Nonprofits gear up for Raise the Region

The 30-hour online giving campaign starts Wednesday.

we are less than two days from one of central Pennsylvania's biggest philanthropic events raised the region the 30-hour online giving campaign supports hundreds of nonprofits Newswatch 16's Nikki C caught up with two of them today it's quiet right now at the Oasis Community recovery Club in shimoken but throughout the week there is a wide variety of activities here the center holds meetings for people in recovery but then outside of that we do build on it with free events for families to come in
um that could be any kind of counseling that we get available through our Partnerships with other um not for-profits or County um and medical uh facilities Oasis Community recovery Club is one of more than 300 nonprofits participating in raise the region this week the 2-day online fundraiser collects donations for nonprofits in Colombia luming Montour North umberland Snyder and Union counties it's big for us to keep that Network going and growing and just have that ability for people if they're
not here to be able to give if they can comfortably give to provide something that day it's a big deal for us next door at the shimoken coold Township Public Library employees say donations from raise the region will go far things like salary General operations but then also our programming schedule which we've been building our roster's been growing and growing for programs for kids and adults so to keep that ball rolling it's really important we just you know keep the funds coming in library
director Ben shammer says this is more than just a place to check out books the shimoken Township Public Library is a pillar in this community as far as a community Hub A Center is really what we're trying to grow ourselves into just that way for our sake and everybody else's too a place you can just go nothing's expected of you you don't have to buy anything there's no expectation raise the region starts Wednesday at 6: p.m. Nikki CRI Newswatch 16 North umberland County
