suggest staying overnight to experience the unique Goat Market, a lively event held
every Friday that showcases local life. Nizwa is renowned for its magnificent Nizwa
Fort, a 16th-century marvel, and the bustling Nizwa Souq, where shoppers can find exquisite
Omani handicrafts. Despite its attractions, Nizwa remains pleasantly uncrowded,
providing a serene atmosphere f

historic fort. Built in the 8th century and later renovated, Nizwa Fort features a grand
circular tower, the largest in Oman, constructed to protect the city from invaders. With its 17
wells and ingenious defense mechanisms, the fort offers a fascinating glimpse into Oman's past. For
those interested in a more in-depth experience, audio guides are available, sharing tales of the
fort's history and its importance to the region. The Imam
Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Yahmadi
had built this castle in 8th century. The castle was further built and renovated over time. Inside the castle, you'll discover rooms that
paint a picture of life hundreds of years ago, from family living quarters to date
storage rooms and even a traditional sugarcane press. The fort also houses a museum
filled with artifacts that highlight the daily lives of its inhabitants. Curiously,
the fort was equipped with a prison, complete with chains and shackles, a
sobering
reminder of the fort's role in maintaining order. A unique feature of Nizwa Fort is a section where
local Omani women sell handmade goods. Visitors can also receive traditional henna designs,
adding a personal touch to their journey. The fort's terrace is particularly impressive,
offering panoramic views of Nizwa city and its surrounding countryside. The architecture
here is a testament to Oman's rich heritage, presenting a wonderful opportunity
for photography enthusiasts. The vi

but at the same time, it's very calming. This is a perfect location
to soak into the Oman air. You can easily spend several hours here. Just make sure that you cover
your head if it's too sunny! One of the reasons we love Nizwa is its tranquil
setting. Unlike more tourist-heavy destinations, Nizwa allows for an authentic exploration of
Omani culture and history without the crowds. After marveling at the fort, we ventured to
the Nizwa Souq. This marketplac

habits of Nizwa's residents. No visit to Nizwa is complete
without tasting Omani Halwa, a delectable sweet treat made from dates and
nuts. The souq offers various halwa varieties, perfect for gifts or a personal indulgence.
Oman's dates are also a must-try, with numerous vendors offering
samples of this delicious fruit. After a round of shopping local
