Hello I'm Paul and welcome to One Minute English with Spevacek Language School. And today it's another Czenglish lesson! I've got just 60 seconds to teach you about one of the most common mistakes that Czech people make when speaking English. Let's do this! The czech word 'akce' does mean 'action' in English but we don't use it for organised events. For organised events, we use the word 'event'. For example, one of my favourite events every year is the United Islands music festival in Prague. Or
, Brno has become such a lively city, there seem to be events happening almost every weekend. Or, I had a fantastic weekend in Ostrava. I went to a great music event, it was the Colours of Ostrava festival. So remember, in this context always event, never action. What a lovely bit of Czenglish! What's the best event you've been to this year? Please let me know in the comments below. Thanks for watching and I'll see you next time.
