Owner of Jacksonville auto store shoots, injures would-be robber

A gunman entered Galaxy Tire and Auto Repair just before noon Friday and robbed the business. The owner shot him.

Lieutenant Shivers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's office this morning around 11 45 a.m a black male suspect approached the business of Galaxy tires and auto repair located in your 500 Woodruff Avenue once in the business the suspect produced a handgun and robbed the business owner at gunpoint while at the same business the suspect approached a second victim pointed a handgun at them and demanded they exit a vehicle that was there at the business the victim complied suspect entered the vehicle h
owever this being an auto repair shop the vehicle was completely not working suspect then exited the vehicle and began to walk away from the business on foot the business owner followed behind just to Simply ascertain a direction of travel for the suspect at which time the suspect pointed his handgun again at the business owner however this time the business owner drew his own firearm and fired one round striking the suspect in his lower body suspect then fled the area and ran to a local restaur
ant where he collapsed the police were called The Suspect was transported to a local medical facility where he was uh was seen for non-life-threatening injuries we've recovered some property nearby where the robbery happened to include property stolen by the suspect in the robbery as well as the suspect's handgun that we believe he possessed during the armed robbery detectives from the robbery and violent crimes unit are here on scene they're conducting interviews with Witnesses and as well as t
he crime scene unit who's collecting the physical evidence the suspect remains at the medical facility and once he's released he'll be interviewed and we expect to be arrested for for multiple charges
