January yes indeed because what that was the television that was different wasn't it the TCA I guess it's where you go out there and basically to talk to the press the TV press but like what you're gonna be working on X and we're out there talking about Billy I wasn't it and and we we got like that we got lost documentary each other in a corridor yeah and and you you you gave me some crap about not wearing a tie and not tonight all right no but we started talking and yeah we had to be separated
by our publicist because we had jobs to do yes we did and then you did the nicest thing there was a party that night showtime threw a party yes and i was out there for the cartoon president you were there for billions yes and and you had you went and got me the book that i had said i can't find anymore because it's no longer in print yes that afternoon I did where do you find time to do that I had a lot of time on my hands man I definitely had time I had them build it in for me so I could do thi
ngs like that but do you build that into your day all the time because you we science fiction cause I do build it under my day all the time and when I'm in LA I build in time to go to a bookstore and in an out burger and that's basically it now a used bookstore that's correct abused books to a used book a used bookstore I'm not going any new fancy stuff Novak you want the books that smell a little bit like Goldie yeah I'm old of them definitely well I am sure when they eventually have to put me
down huh I just want them to like before they inject me with whatever it is I just want them to put a 1950s science fiction book over my face to breathe in that's just sniffing yeah yeah absolutely got a death rattle exactly yeah he put light but new you said this to me do you stand by the statement I'm gonna quote you you see if you stand by it what you said people like think that I like I it's great to be an actor uh-huh you said they don't understand I enjoy acting but I really do it cuz I've
got enough down time to read science fiction that's pretty much true yeah III see it as subsidizing my used book career as my book buying yeah I'm lucky that I've done well at acting right so I can do that you got all the time in the trailer to be real all that time in the Train well you got me two books that night you got me robots have no tails by Henry Kutner right and then you got me the Phoenix and the mirror and the mirror from David's ever Davidson well I got believe we're sitting I got

other reason I love taking the subway I do yeah yeah move on to the next subject now okay you play Chuck Rhodes I do a US Attorney yes Chuck Rose in in billions now in this season if I'm not mistaken there's some doubt as to whether you be able to keep your position because there's new administration correct okay did you talk with any of the guys who were let go by Donald Trump when he came into office because he cut a whole bunch of guys off at the mean of all yes and there's still no guys in t
here now most of the most those positions are still empty I think I didn't talk to them now after he did no I talked to those guys before I didn't talk to them subsequently I haven't talked to them since he didn't I talked to prepar I talked to him before when he's still at his job Oh still at his gig and so I know I have not talked to him briefly I've talked to him but not not not not at any great length well would you understand what you're saying when you play the part because you're you're h
aving use both legal terms yes and fairly esoteric Wall Street term yes which I think they make up to confuse us on purpose yes like by default swaps and stuff like that yes no I think that stuff is done it's then it sounds so arcane to keep us confused have you had learned like about Wall Street in order to yeah I mean I have yeah I find that stuff kind of tricky I mean the law stuff everybody sort of familiar with it you know enough that I can do that stuff and I learned the stuff that I have
to learn or anything beyond that point yeah I'm just like that's good I'm done you know credit default crap whatever I'm good I understand that right I'm beyond that I don't but and I understand sort of when they're breaking the law but a lot of the other stuff I I'm not sure if they understand when they're break I think you have a good point I'd i think it's purposefully opaque no absolutely you know Schmucks those the like us yeah the Lawrences so that the the titans of industry can trade thei
r money back and forth and we won't know what they're no we have no idea what they're doing they're just ripping us off you know about wax for Paul do you know about this yes I do they're actually out there who were really upset that there is no madame tussauds wax figure of paul giamatti sure with them I believe they should talk about a constraint so this gets put around a lot its join the campaign take a stand get paul giamatti a wax statue this blew up last year well well we're still out ther
e fighting it I'm still out there fighting for it you may not know this but last year we bought a a wax statue of Zachary Taylor we bought it from a closing wax figurines shop down in Gettysburg Pennsylvania we bought this and so we have converted it in your honor Paul come with me come when they bring it out boys [Music] [Applause] [Music] we are gathered here to right or wrong that has been done to one of America's finest actors they did a hell of a good job with that The Late Show is proud to
