in Casa del Toro in the Spanish countryside, while the rest of his species engages in strength
feuds like adult bulls. Ferdinand is completely calm and refuses to fight, preferring to spend his
time sniffing flowers and conversing with plants. Ferdinand is watering a single flower
that has grown in t
he middle of the Arena. One day when the Winner's truck arrives, leaving
the other calves extremely excited . When Ferdinand asks what this truck is, Valiente
explains that it is the vehicle that transports the strongest bulls to become stars, with the
hope that one day they will become great bulls. The Cavs begin to argue over who will be the
champion of Casa del Toro. While they argue, Valiante knocks down Bones, who nearly steps
on the arena flower, making Ferdinand nervous. When Valient
e realises the little bull
is concerned about protecting the flower, he threatens to crush it to force him to
fight, but the calf refuses to fight and begins protecting the object with his body.
At this point, the bullfighter arrives at the observatory, and the adult bulls enter the
arena to determine who will be taken inside. After some wrangling, the bullfighter decides
to take Ferdinand's father before fleeing. The calf approaches his father and begins
to question whether there is somet
hing wrong with him not wanting to fight in the
arena, but his father tries to reassure him by telling him that when he grows up, he will
be the biggest bull the arena has ever seen. Ferdinand bids farewell and begins walking back
to the stable, but about halfway there, he notices Valiante crushing his flower and exiting the
stable.Ferdinand waits for his father to return as Arena champion for several days until one night,
while an employee is cleaning the place, he hears the Winner's truck
and goes to the entrance to see
his father but finds the vehicle completely empty, believing his father has been defeated. When
the employee who is cleaning the stable notices Ferdinand, he tries to take him back to his zone.
While being pursued by the employees, Ferdinand rushes out the door and out of Casa Del Toro,
but knowing that this is his only chance to live a different life, he dashes across the tracks and
climbs into the carriage of a running train, after hours of walking on the
tracks, the train finally
comes to a halt, and Ferdinand exits the waggon. The tiny calf becomes disoriented and continues
to roam around the forest until he hears the barking of a dog. He tries to flee, but
becomes stuck and falls into the Ravine. Ferdinand eventually faints, and the next morning
he wakes up in the barn with a small girl who has come to see him. The small calf is initially
terrified of Nina, but when he sees that she, too, enjoys flowers, he feels safer and decides
to tru
st her. Ferdinand and Nina leave the barn and tour the farm fields, sniffing all
the flowers he discovers along the way. Ferdinand spends his days playing with Nina and
assisting Juan with agricultural tasks until he grows into a giant bull but continues to live
with his family. Ferdinand continues to assist the farm in the production of flowers for the
spring festival, but when the big day arrives, Juan informs Nina that Ferdinand will be
unable to attend the Festival due to his size, and
she is disappointed that her father does not
wish to take the bull. Nina refuses to attend the celebration but is eventually persuaded by Juan,
who recommends they take Paco, the family dog, with them. Ferdinand climbs to the top of the
hill, debating whether he should disobey or stay, and after some deliberation, he decides to
attend the flower festival. When he comes, the bull begins sniffing the flowers and searches
for Nina, frightening everyone who sees him. Ferdinand eventually sees N
ina and begins
walking towards her, but halfway there, his head becomes entangled in some clothes on
the clothesline. When he struggles to get free, the bull falls with his buttocks right on the
sting of a bee, in excruciating pain and unable to see due to the vest covering his eyes. Ferdinand
dashes through the area, terrifying everyone. In the midst of the chaos, he passes a balloon
stand, and a baby becomes entangled in his horn. The baby, who finds it all extremely entertaining,
rips t
he handkerchief out of Ferdinand's eyes. Ferdinand understands he is running
towards a car and attempts to stop, but the bull is too fast and
hits the vehicle, causing the baby to fly away and become entangled
in the string of flowers to save him. The bull chases after the infant,
preventing him from falling to the ground. Ferdinand eventually calms down and stops running,
but due of the mayhem he has caused, everyone around him believes he is hostile and contacts
Animal Control. They arri
ve to apprehend him, but when Paco sees the guys, he urges Ferdinand
to run to the farm while he distracts them. However, the humans ignore the dog and continue
sprinting after the bull. Ferdinand flees through the alleys till he reaches a house and tries
to hide. Unfortunately for him, the property he visits is essentially a museum of plates including
porcelain and glass kitchenware. Despite his enormous size, Ferdinand walks carefully about
the area so as not to grab anyone's notice. Howe
ver, when he tries to stack the falling
ceramics, the owner of the establishment shakes his tail for a feather duster and starts pulling
him about the home while cleaning the dishes. To the Bull's dismay, the old lady ends up wagging
his nose while cleaning the premises, leading Ferdinand to sneeze so loudly that the tiny lady
flies out the window, revealing his location. With Ferdinand surrounded,
police officers arrest him, and animal control personnel place him in
a transport cabin boun
d for Casa del Toro. When Nina sees Ferdinand being hauled away, she
rushes to him and begs the officers to let him go. However, the officers clearly disregard
her and allow him to be carried away. When he finally arrives at Casa del Toro.
Ferdinand recognises where he is as soon as he sees the statue, panics, and ends up getting
his horns hooked in the railing. Mr Moreno, owner of Casa del Toro, notices the animal's uneasiness
and instructs his servants to bring the goat to try to calm him
down. Suddenly, a very mad goat
named Lupe is tossed and begins talking to him, but because she never stops talking, she
ends up making Ferdinand even more agitated. Ferdinand finally succeeds in removing his horn
and rolls out of the truck, landing directly on top of the goat. Ferdinand helps Lupe stand up and
begs her to help him, but the goat thinks the bull is requesting to be trained and begins to analyse
him excitedly in preparation for instruction. Lupe enters the ring to show her n
ew student
to the other bulls, but everyone immediately recognises Ferdinand. While the other bulls are
awed by Ferdinand's size, Valiente arrives out of nowhere and begins to frighten him in the same
way they did when they were younger. Ferdinand, on the other hand, ignores the provocation and
refuses to fight. Lupe brings Ferdinand to the barn after meeting his old colleagues again,
where they spend the night sleeping. Until, in the middle of the night, three hedgehogs break in
and take
their belongings. Lupe notices the three hedgehogs in the middle of the robbery and begins
to offend them, resulting in a true species war. Ferdinand holds Lupe and lets the hedgehogs to
bring his food, allowing them to reach the window and sleep peacefully. When it is almost finished,
Ferdinand resolves to come home no matter what. To accomplish this, he exits the
stable and walks to the fence. When he tries to go around the obstruction, he
receives a shock that almost burns his brain. Thr
ee horses appear and begin laughing at
Ferdinand's face the minute he falls to the ground. Ferdinand thinks they can help as soon as
he sees them and asks how to get past the gate. But the horses start to irritate him and threaten
to summon the humans if he tries to cross again. The next morning, Lupe wakes up before everyone
else, and as she walks out of the barn, she overhears the humans discussing
El Primero's visit to Casa del Toro. the Goat returns to the stable and awakens all
the bu
lls to inform them of the news, but in her exuberance, she steps on Ferdinand's tail and is
kicked so hard that she smashes against the wall. At this time, Mr. Moreno goes outside to greet the
visitor, while his employees let out the bulls. When El Primo Marrow arrives at Casa del Toro,
he informs Mr Moreno that he has come to select the greatest bull for his final fight before
retiring. El Primero heads to the stands, and the men open the gate for the animals
to go. Ferdinand, on the other
hand, refuses to enter the arena, and because he is in
front of the others, he ends up blocking the way. Valiente kicks Ferdinand's backside to clear the
way, causing him to enter the arena. With the path clear, the other bulls enter and begin fighting
among themselves. However, one of the employees is unable to escape in time and is pursued by Makina,
a strange bull developed in a laboratory. Valiente headbutts Ferdinand and challenges him to a
fight while Makina charges the man with his
horn. But just then, Guapo appears, knocking Valiente
out with a horn. Valiente stands up and challenges Guapo to demonstrate El Primero his full
ability, knowing that he lacks self-confidence. Guapo, on the other hand, becomes overly
stressed and collapses in the midst of the arena. Ferdinand rushes over to his pal, concerned
about his well-being. But when he does, he lands up in front of Bones, who swerves and
hits Makina, hurling the employee far away. Seeing the chaos in the arena,
El
Primero calls a halt to the bullfight and declares that those
animals are unfit for the occasion. However, after some persuasion by Mr Moreno, El
Primero decides to give the bulls another chance, but warns that if he does not obtain the champion
animal, he will damage Casa del Toro's image throughout the country, effectively bankrupting
the establishment. On their way out of the ring, the other bulls begin to argue with Ferdinand for
humiliating them all. But, in the middle of their disagre
ement, they hear Guapo shouting outside
and go to investigate. The bull enters the truck while celebrating his selection by El Primero,
but after it departs, Bones realises that this is not the winner's truck, but the vehicle
that will transport him to the abattoir.
