welcome back it's time for pet of the week where we highlight one special Animal Friend In Search of a forever home and I'm joined with Katrina loit SW a rescue coordinator with the Haven Humane Society here in chass County along with jedia welcome to the show it's so good to hear you have you here um yeah yeah thanks for having us yeah no problem so tell us a little bit about jedia so jedia is about 2 years old um we think he's maybe like a Dutch Shepherd mix we're not quite sure but he has a v
ery unique Look to Him for sure um he is 2 years old so he's young you know he definitely has a lot of energy he wants to play a lot and luckily he is very treat motivated um but he's a very very smart dog and he's also very affectionate which is cool it's a really good mix of a lot of play but he's also one that I think could like cuddle up on the couch with you at the end of the day yeah he's very healthy and seems very vibrant what types of walks does he like to go on does he like to go on lo
ng walks short walks he likes long walks he's definitely one that likes to sniff every thing um and can keep himself pretty occupied that way and he also really likes toys um we were playing ball this morning and he definitely can chase a ball forever yeah no he seems like he would be a really fun dog to play fetch with he's just so adorable he has like some really interesting markings um can you tell me a little bit about like what type of mix he is yeah so we always have to just guess because
unfortunately when they come in as a stray you know they don't get to tell us where they came from or who they are um so we're guessing he might be a Dutch Shepherd mix they are similar to like a German Shepherd but they're more like brindle colored um but definitely a very similar temperament very smart dogs um they definitely do have a lot of energy they're not you know a couch potato um but they're very smart dogs that you can teach a lot of things to yeah know he looks like a German Shepherd
mix a little bit so cute I love muts too because there's also a lot of great benefits of having a mut you get to give them a home but also um I they have reduced risk for a lot of of other diseases that could be in pure bread dogs so that's good no that's a really good point too yeah and there's a lot of shelter animals right now in the shelter so um what are some good words of encouragement to get some people to maybe adopt if they can at the moment um just that you know as much as it's bringi
ng something special to your life you're also really changing an animal's life um that maybe has had a rough go of it so far um and as much as it can be challenging sometimes to bring like a new animal home with you it can be really rewarding and the you're going to have with this dog is going to be like anything else because you know you've taken them out of a hard situation and you've given them another chance um and honestly shelter dogs make fantastic family pets yeah they really do I've had
a few shelter pets and they're the best so um if people want to come visit some animals what are good times that they could come and stop by um so our adoption center is open Monday through Saturday um between 11: and 5: um we do encourage appointments if you're serious about potential adopting an animal but we are open to walk-ins as well if you ever just want to come peruse and learn more about our adoption process okay that's great and then um are there adoption fees for these types of dogs
as well there are and they do range um but typically speaking are it's going to be around $75 and that covers their spay and neuter surgery microchipping vetting all of that stuff oh that's so great that's amazing and then um you know at the shelter do you guys have small dogs big dogs energetic dogs quiet dogs what's the I would say mostly bigger dogs um is who we tend to see and it's typically like younger large dogs um yeah he's so cute we do get smaller dogs sometimes we do get older dogs so
metimes but I would say they're more few and far between yeah no he just loves you he's really happy he knows I have the treats oh my gosh yeah that is so awesome I have to stop by sometime that sounds a really fun place and there's also cats as well and what other animals yeah we have cats um I know as spring starts you know getting going we're going to have a lot more cats we're going to have a lot of kittens soon but we do get other animals in sometimes we get small animals like rabbits somet
