back new tonight the teachers of Pickerington have no confidence in their school board on March 20th the union nearly unanimously voted no confidence in the Board of Education tonight that group took their concerns directly to the board during their regularly scheduled school board meeting tin TV's Carly Deion shares what they hope to see change Pickering tin Education Association president Brad Harris came before the Pickerington Board of Education tonight to share why the association feels the
board is acting in ways detrimental to the students and Community we've tried to be patient we've tried to have dialogue and conversations Harris says tonight was the appropriate Next Step as the association continues to work for changes within its School Board less than two weeks ago 99% of the association's more than 700 members made up of teachers and School staff voted no confidence in the board members there's concerns that go across the board but essentially I think what it comes down to
is just we need more Staffing Harris says large class sizes and behavioral issues among students brought on since the pandemic are problems that could seee some relief if more staff were hired within their schools if the teachers do not feel supported and the teachers don't feel like the district is going in the right direction I think that that's that's a very big problem in order to to have a strong school system while the board did not directly respond to these comments one of its members Mar
k Henson didn't disagree right now I have uh a lot of of concerns about the board that's why I ran for the election in the first place uh because I thought there significant change was needed Hensen has been a board member since January but the board also addressed a resolution of censure tonight for Henson claiming he has repeatedly gone against their code of ethics and conduct mainly directly communicating with school staff I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one that communicates with peopl
e in the district but he says he's willing to hear them out and make changes accordingly I'm going to as I said reflect on it uh seriously and try to figure out where I need to change as necessary Henson says the bottom line is changes are needed across the board Harris says for now their biggest hope is for this vote to serve as a wake-up call to the board to start making decisions to better serve the school community in Pickerington Cari Dion 10TV news

That's funny because my friends in Prickerington took their kids out of public schools 5 years ago in a vote of no confidence to the entire system.
