exclusively in Japan (?????) go figure after all the ps2
is full of mysteries......... not many mysteries
about Master Rallye though its just like a regular rally game sorta mediocre tbh music is good tho! that’s all i have on
Master Rallye guess i’ll talk about my process for
making this mix then after all, it’s been
FIVE MONTHS OF WORK was i working only on this? nope! i also started
making an
original game soundtrack! won’t be out for a while but i
promise it will be VERY SICK i also have an original EP that
should be coming out soon so pls look forward to that so here’s how
it went down i watched a video called The PlayStation 2 Project -
All 4218 PS2 Games (US/EU/JP) by the Video Game Library - VGL
youtube channel (god bless their souls) from start to finish the video is 11 hours
and 40 minutes long it contains 10 seconds of
gameplay from every ps2 game while i was
going
through it if i felt a WHIFF of a breakbeat or a
techno beat or whatever or if the game looked interesting and
i FELT it had good music i went and downloaded that ost last track is so beautiful
but so short it’s so sad :((( and here’s more menu appreciation rotating cars on video game menus
are an INSTITUTION man (transition time) (GRAPHIC DESIGN LETS FUCKING GO) here’s one of Namco’s
greatest masterpieces at least in the OST department
(cause i never played it) Alpine Racer 3!!! easily on the
top 10 ps2 soundtracks dang transitions are coming in fast! well i did fit like 50 tracks
in this mix tho I/O

Dark Summit really had a lot of fun with
the mashups in this mix best is yet to come tho! but it’s cool you take an ambient track and
add some dnb drums to it boom you have a new atmospheric dnb
track no one’s heard before! EASY MONEY anyway thanks to my
super deep research i found all these OSTs to games
that i either know nothing about or that are just not so interesting (filter acti
on!) like good old I/O here you know is it the best sci-fi
visual novel ever? probably not does it have some creepy
perverted stuff in it? probably so i think i’m good just knowing that
it has good music and that it has this
sick opening video! pls support me on patreon so i can afford

was pretty mediocre until i found about its storyline so there’s this whole class war going
between skiers and snowboarders and they’re f
ighting for the mountain but in reality there’s a
CONSPIRACY going on and the skiers want to get rid of the
boarders so they can excavate the mountains
to find some ALIEN ARTIFACTS but in the meantime you (the protag)
are not just a boarder you are an
INFILTRATED FBI AGENT who has to investigate
the skier/alien conspiracy and it’s important that
you look cool doing it midnight club lfggggggg anyway here’s where i
donwloaded all those osts: (take out your notepads) did the game have
an official
release? (first check on VGMDB if it did) if yes then the first place
to look is soulseek if it’s not there go
on squid-board there’s no official release? then try KH insider they only have mp3 128kbps there? then head on to vgm.hcs64.com and download the rip there they don’t have it? welp then you gotta rip it yourself! thankfully my good buddy

e story about the
process for making this mix after i downloaded everything
i ended up with 75 GIGABYTES OF MUSIC that was almost 400 SOUNDTRACKS most of them in very weird audio
formats that i had to convert myself after i did that i picked out the trash and
selected what i wanted to save so it went down to 50gb (terrified of the next transition) PERFECT LETS GO now this is a
hardcore CLASSIC and one of my
favorite tracks EVER Hurt You So, by Jonny L when i found out this track was in a game
i
was so happy lmao it is from 92
and honestly if it was released yesterday
it’d still blow my mind every single sound
in it sounds so fresh and the way the layers are built on top of
one another is just masterful also Jonny L, Adam F, Mark J, J-Laze, Anth M, J Majik,
Baby D, Atmost T, Danny C, Lemon D, Bizzy B, Special K..... do you see a pattern there? there’s obviously
a conspiracy happening when it comes to great
DnB producers’ aliases the little marimba and
the acid line mannnn dddd((-____-))
bbbb (not as terrified of the next
transition as i should be) (realized i fucked up) NOT PERFECT oh well this is
Megaman X: Command Mission which is a turn-based combat
rpg spin-off of Megaman X (i don’t think any of those
words are in the bible) it received average reviews! much like almost
every game in this mix but always remember: a man’s 7/10 is another man’s 11/10 now HERE’S

S2 game there are SO MANY
great tracks in this game you’ll be seeing it
a lot in the future 3:D super smooth transition incoming: Musashi Samurai Legend!! another super
over-achieving OST! man i feel like i’m shitting
too much on these games lmao i’m not trying to hate! and too be fair i’d much rather
play any game featured here than most of the stuff
that comes out nowadays (except for Master Rallye that
one specifically is so ugly and boring!!!!) and it’s not cause new games
are worse or anyth

on a huge rant so when i was separating
the tracks i downloaded (sneakily) i realized that the ps2
library had a lot of dnb in contrast do the ps1’s library
that has a lot of jungle that i found while
doing my first ps1 mix so i tweeted: PS1 = jungle console
PS2 = dnb console for some reason people vibed
VERY HARD with this tweet and it got like
5k likes (?) (hang on i’ll be pausing during
transitions during this rant) (that IS my main job after all) but all that interaction brought
a lot of ex
posure to that tweet and with that exposure i reached
a very weird corner of twitter that felt extremely hurt by it so it was actually very ironic cause you know i AM a pro lgbtqia+,
pro China, pro USSR, pro North Korea (yes lol we can
talk more about that if you want) billionaire hating bona fide communist hehe and if you follow me on twitter that
shouldn’t be a secret (follow me on twitter pls) (man the footage i got for
this game is so freaky lol) (its probably some emulator shenanigans
but i
like it) so you know after
starting this project i always thought the Gamers™ would be the
first to tell me to **** myself online you know lol but instead it was... jungle fans??? weird!!! (btw the video game fans community
i fostered online is SO SWEET AND NICE ILY ALL) but you know i know it is twitter
so i don’t take it to heart but there is in fact a good
discussion to be had here so lets go through it! the actual point the jungle fans were making
was actually pretty valid as they felt as i
f the whole
video game jungle mix phenomena that’s been going on youtube was white-washing
and gentrifying jungle and i see where
they're coming from! you know as a Brazilian it KINDA irks me a bit whenever i see
foreigners making Brazilian Funk d(-_-)b (also please dont call it
brazilian PHONK for christs sake) (almost fucked it up but
had a nice save there!) but i think there's a point
that is being missed there and that point is pretty much what
i've always been talking about which is the fac
t that the
history of club/rave music and the history video games
is intimately connected that was THE big point
i made in my WipEout mix (pls check it out later it is cool) cause you know,
just like many other games WipEout actually became
a big platform for british producers (so yeah video games actually got a
bunch of dnb producer PAYED) (so i guess you won’t
find the actual musicians) (complaining about
VGM mixes on twitter lol) (Soichi time! but not only that WipEout itself and the playst
ation became
an actual part of the club scene back in the day like man you got freaking Dizzee Rascal making
his first beats on a playstation you know???? and really you can take it alllll
the way back to Yellow Magic Orchestra who used ARCADE SOUNDS on the
FIRST track of their FIRST album that album would then become
highly influential in the breakbeat, techno and
house scenes in the US and let me tell you something without those US influences
mixed in a melting pot together with
Jamaican influ
ences you wouldn't have
Acid House and you wouldn't have
Oldskool Hardcore and you wouldn't have
Jungle and you wouldn't have
Drum and Bass and then THOSE genres became
highly influential in Japan and started to appear in games and then those games were played by
kids who were too young for clubs so they fell in love with those genres and started
digging them deeper from that starting point really i've had so many comments from
actual people telling stories like that and then the next think you
know you have Burial who is IMO the most important
UK act from the last decade SAMPLING THE
METAL GEAR SOLID 2 SOUNTRACK ON THE FIRST TRACK OF HIS
MOST SEMINAL RECORD you know THE mgs2 the soundtrack of which
i played just now man i’ll get to the
final point in a second but before it
can i just say that Gungrave GORE which is the sequel to the game
you’re watchin/listening to right now that came out last year WAS DONE SO DIRTY BY REVIEWERS REALLY IT IS SO GOOD watch the Electric Underground

(not only music history!) as not a simple,
2d, straight line but as a deeply complex
and interconnected you know weird shape (didn't know what
word to use) so while dnb is not
ONLY ps2 music (obviously) you just can’t say it isn’t
ALSO ps2 music that being said! i also don't think its cool to consume DnB
ONLY in the form of video game music! so if you wanna dig a bit deep
