Hi everyone, I am back! In my previous video, when I did a  vlog showing my experiences entering the cinema and actually watching it, and  showing you guys my first-time reaction, I was very adrenaline-driven.  There was a lot of emotion. So, this is a bit of a spoiler, but I love the  movie, and I think you will too. Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan resumes his comeback with the  movie Jawan. And to really simplify the plot in a way that's in no way accurate to the rest  of the movie, it's about a
really handsome, well-meaning terrorist and his crack team  of hostage-taking, gun-wielding women. So, back in January this year, Paathan stormed  cinemas and was SRK's comeback movie. Now, if you loved that movie as much as I did, then this movie will definitely delight you,  and you will definitely enjoy your time. But before I go into that, I need to talk  about a term: Mass. I'm not talking about mass as in the physics Mass - E equals m  c squared, P equals MV, all of that. I've seen this w
ord come up so many times, and I  didn't really understand what it meant. I got a gist of it based on what movies it was used to  describe, but what is mass? What is a Massy movie? To put it simply, when it comes to movies, Mass  means adrenaline-pumping, over-the-top action, big, larger-than-life heroes. I'm sure there are  more definitions, and that term is very broad, but that's the impression I get, and these movies  are designed to resonate with the wider audience; it has a mass appeal. Lik
e if I  had to put a Western comparison, things like Avatar, Avengers End Game.  Those sorts of movies would be Mass. So now we know what Mass means. Now,  this movie is mass! And I mean that in the best way possible. Like any time  an exciting action scene plays out, the audience just erupts with excitement,  and that atmosphere is contagious. Well, I don't know about you, but when  it comes to Western movies, I want to find a quiet Cinema. I wait until the initial  hype has died down so I can
enjoy the movie, but when it comes to Indian movies...  When it comes to movies like Jawan, I want to be there on opening day. I want  there to be a packed theatre so that we can all celebrate this movie. When it comes to  these sorts of movies, you want to have fun! This movie really weaves together a bunch of  different genres in a way that Hollywood movies don't really. Like if Hollywood had a bunch of  rules about what you could do, Jawan just throws them out the window. Like it is a combina
tion of,  let's see, high-octane action, musical sequences, drama, politics, comedy, romance. What else have  I missed? Everything. It's got so many things. So, Jawan, it doesn't really hold back. It  breaks those Hollywood norms. But it is so sincere and intentional in what it does that to  a foreigner like me, it is just so refreshing. I was genuinely surprised at the emotional depth of  this field. There was not a dry eye in the month; I swear everyone was tearing up, including  me, despite i
ts over-the-top Massy nature. It still remains self-reflective in its themes and  messages; it's introspective, and it was actually encouraging viewers to question certain things  in life and to recognize the flaws in the country that it so dearly loves. That Jawan theme is  simply fantastic. I think besides Chaleya, the other ones weren't as memorable.  Zinda was pretty good, you know. It got people pumping in the cinema, but I  just think I'm just comparing it to war. Vijay, terrific villain,
scary villain. He is so  good at playing an evil character. Like he was so irredeemably evil that you love to hate him.  He, despite how evil he was, there was this sense that he cared about his family. A minor thing  to complain about, his daughter shows up really early in the movie, and I thought she was going  to play a really important part in his story, but she just disappears, like she just, they just kind of forget about her. I thought  the daughter should have been used more. The animals
and I think some of the vehicle VFX  weren't as good as I've seen in other movies. But now this is, I think this is a  spoiler, alright, big spoiler warning, don't listen to me if you skip to this  time if you don't want to listen to this, alright, you're gone, okay. In the second half,  when SRK's Dad is revealed and it's in his SRK, of course, as Vikram, anytime they're both on  screen together, I could not tell it was two separate people. Oh, spoiler over. But yes,  the VFX are social effect
s overall amazing because of what I just said. I don't know how  much money they had, but I obviously used up a lot of money to blow things up and create  these places. The only thing I would say here is some of the hand-to-hand combat fight scenes  slow down the cuts. There were a lot of cuts, and I just wanted to see SRK fight. Oh, SRK.  Yeah, I was actually speaking to a colleague. I told him I watched Jawan, and he revealed  that when he was around six or seven years old, he actually met the
legend himself. He met  the Superstar. Apparently, his dad was working in the area where SRK was filming, and he got  the privilege to meet SRK. And what he said was to this day, he still vividly remembers how  charismatic it was, how kind and genuine of a man SRK was, and I'm so glad to hear that. And  he has a photo with him too, which is amazing. So, in a lot of the reviews that I saw, I didn't  really see people commenting about how good the style The Styling team behind SRK is. He's got a
lot of looks, and you'll see that in the trailer. He's got a lot of looks, and there's a reason for  that. But every look is pretty natural looking, and it is amazing how they can transform  him in so many different ways. So, Jawan does cover pretty heavy topics like the  politics, the corruption, the farmer situation, the oxygen supply in India, doesn't shy away  from tackling those issues, but it also has this uplifting message in saying how these  things can change in a very short span of ti
me. Nayanthara is an amazing actress as well, and  she's really cool, badass in a bunch of slo-mo action scenes, and her loving relationship with  her daughter is really nice to see, but again, I feel like they just underutilized her. She  could have been developed more in the second half. Deepika really surprised me in this role. I didn't  think she'd have as much of a significance in the movie as she did because it was just a special  appearance, a special guest appearance, but no, she was rea
lly good in this. I liked it.  She I did tear up in some of the scenes. So during the movie, actually, I jotted down a few  things on my phone, but they're coming off as like really crazy ramblings. So this part is probably  spoilers, um, skip to this time mark if you don't want to hear this, but for those who haven't  watched the movies, this might be fun to you. So what I wrote down here, actually teared  up on the opening scene with Village, and then I wrapped that SRK is  funny, he's very ho
t, what, uh, romance was kind of rushed into a song though  the song was very romantic, a lot of children's stuff, very intense children's stuff, Kalee is  terrifying, is the younger version of him the same actor because that is amazing, of course, SRK and  Deepika make SRK, oh my God, they killed the dog Mufasa, I can't believe SRK outcooled himself, SRK  tag team, I've never seen this before in a movie. So in a nutshell, Jawan is a wild emotional,  dramatic, intense ride. I loved it. I loved i
t. This is definitely gonna break records.  I haven't read the news about it, but please, in the comments, tell me how it's going. I'm  not gonna be surprised if this beats Paathan. It'll be close. It'll be close. This movie, if  you want to watch a movie which makes you cheer, whistle, cry, then this is for you. This move  is definitely for me and Dean, and I think more and more people are gonna get into India cinema.  I'm so excited for the future of it. By the way, feel free to check out our
Pathan video and  our RRR video. As always, thank you so much for watching. Please like, comment, and subscribe,  and I'll see you in the next one. See ya! [Music] I know it's in the blinds on so bright  outside, oh that's bright, oh that's bright.

@DevKulkarni

Massy movie generally means something that tries to appeal to the last person standing in every segment of the audience. Thereby creating the widest base of audience that like/love the movie you put out. It’s said as if it’s easy to do and some makers believe that there is a formula to it.. but it’s honestly extremely difficult to perfect. You’ll see the idea of delivering goodness for last person standing in many other Indian industries too like Business and Politics. It’s called “Antyodaya” in Hindi/Sanskrit. Closest concept to that in English would be to reach the lowest common denominator in the audience or trying to create the widest “tent” in western politics.. but it’s still not the same. Thanks for the video :)

@Ozukovsky

Mass comes from the word for the masses. Massy films are for the masses irrespective of class hierarchy. They are not meant to be high art only accessible to the educated or upper class elites. For the common people. Therefore while reviewing a massy movie you dont consider the intricacies of the craft as much as the entertainment value it provides. Another thing to note mass films in India are meant to be maximalist in every sense. This is maximalist cinema you wont find space for minimalism or nuance, therefore people who make conparisons between mass film and say a realist film often tend to look at it in a downgraded manner. This is specially in the case of film academia in India
