Hyped For Games

A new report says PS5 Pro is  indeed launching this year, Insomniac details everything on  Spider-Man New Game Plus update, the saga of Arrowhead trying to fix Helldivers  continues, and all the launch details for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. All that and more  in today's PlayStation News, let's get to them! First up, a quick update on the new PlayStation  Plus catalog games available to download now. On the games catalog, there's Need  for Speed Unbound, The Outer Worlds Spacer's Choice ed
ition, Tales of Arise,  Assassin's Creed Valhalla, LEGO Worlds, LEGO Jurassic World, Roguebook,  Rogue Lords, and Tales of Zestiria. Then the classics catalog adds  Resistance Retribution, Jet Moto 2, Tales of Symphonia, and Tales of Vesperia. Good news for anyone looking to add the  Resistance Retribution platinum to their shelf, as the game only asks you to beat 23 unmissable  story-related objectives, plus try 5 weapons, take down 50 enemies, and die once. So  overall, it is a very easy plati
num. Besides all that, Deluxe and Premium users  also get a new one-hour trial for Balatro, a roguelike deck builder that changes the  rules of poker and has a 92 on Metacritic. We also know 7 games will be leaving the catalog  next month including Tchia, Ghostwire Tokyo, Civilization VI, NEO The World Ends With  You, Code Vein, Outer Wilds, and Haven. As per our poll, you guys think this was a great  update with 62% voting in favor, 21% neutral, and 18% against; and the games you are most  inte
rested in are Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Need for Speed Unbound, The Outer  Worlds, and Resistance Retribution. Which PlayStation Plus games are you playing  this month? Share with us in the comments. Next, there's a new report from CNBC that  supports the release of a PS5 Pro in the second half of the year which previous rumors  have said will feature Sony's own DLSS solution. Analysts think there will be a new model  to boost the interest in PS5 after Sony had to cut their console forecast fro
m 25 to  21 million units, and to provide a beefed-up option for one of the most anticipated  games of next year, Grand Theft Auto 6. Kantan Games analyst Serkan Toto says  “There seems to be a broad consensus in the game industry that Sony is indeed preparing a  launch of a PS5 Pro in the second half of 2024,” “And Sony will want to make sure to have a great  piece of hardware ready when GTA VI hits in 2025, a launch that will be a shot in the  arm for the entire gaming industry.” However, if a
nd when Sony does launch  a new PS5 Pro, don't expect the regular model to go down in price according to George  Jijiashvili, senior principal analyst at Omdia. The reason is what we were talking  about in the previous video that parts for manufacturing PS5 are not going down in price for Sony to earn a profit in the  console, unlike previous generations. The Omdia analyst points out that given that  issue, there's still a scenario "where Sony launches the PS5 Pro but still experiences  declinin
g year-on-year hardware sales". PS5 has been nearly 4 years  in the market and with most games being cross-gen it seems the  hardware is just starting to hit its stride so it remains to be seen if a Pro  version gathers a significant audience. The PS4 Pro keynote in September 2016  fell flat with the media calling it a hard sell and Sony has never disclosed  sales of that version only saying in 2017 that 1 in every 5 PS4 sold was a Pro version. 2016 was a record year for PS4 with 20 million  uni
ts sold but little is related to PS4 Pro, Sony had left the PS3 behind by then  and we had games like Dark Souls III, Uncharted 4, Fallout 4, Persona  5, and promise of 2017 games such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Resident  Evil 7, and Gran Turismo Sport. Grand Theft Auto 6 will sell a lot  but given Take Two's recent results it will likely arrive after March 2025  which means there will be a gap that Sony needs to fill to launch a PS5 Pro with  games that take advantage of the hardware, and they have
said they have no plans for  new entries in major franchises this year. Would you be interested in a PS5  Pro? Let us know in the comments. Moving on, Insomniac has announced  the full details for the Spider-Man 2 new game plus mode adding a bunch  of costumes and new options as well. The update set to launch this March 7 will  let you replay the game with all suits and abilities while unlocking additional content  like Ultimate Levels and Golden Gadget styles. There are also more suits and  cus
tomization options as players can customize Peter's symbiote suits or  change into the new Hellfire Gala costumes with designs from comic book artists  Russell Dauterman and Bernard Chang. Besides that, there are enhancements to photo  mode with action figure mode and stickers, alongside accessibility features like  Audio descriptions and a screen reader. Insomniac has also partnered with Gameheads, an organization that fosters diverse talent and  empowers low-income youth in the gaming industry
, and they will be launching the  Fly N' Fresh suit paid DLC pack. The pack will be available from March 7  to April 5, and for $5 you can get early access to a Fly suit for Peter, a Fresh  suit for Miles, 10 photo mode stickers, and 2 photo mode frames with 100% of  the purchase price going to Gameheads. The costumes will be made available for  free for all players at a later date. Will you be going back to Spider-Man 2 to  replay the game? Share with us in the comments. Now, there is more news
on the saga  of Arrowhead and their quest to keep up with server demand for Helldivers  2's surge in popularity since launch. The Swedish studio has released patch 1.10  as of recording to resolve matchmaking issues and prepare for increased server load  according to game director and CEO Johan Pilestedt. People are still facing login  issues so there's still work to be done. Pilestedt also addressed the server  issues indicating that is not as easy as just adding more servers. While replying
to a deleted tweet he explained they are working on backend code optimization  which is hitting some real limits. The issues with the game have also led the  directive to recommend players to buy the game later in another Twitter reply.  He said that while they have "made a really fun game it’s worth waiting  until the servers can support the capacity" as he'd be heartbroken if they  spent cash to get stuck in server queues. One of the features the developer is hoping to  implement is an auto ki
ck feature for players away from the game given many have admitted to  remaining logged into the game to avoid issues when trying to log in again, resulting  in other users not being able to play. Helldivers 2 keeps reaching new heights  in player count on Steam now surpassing 450K users as of recording, I don't  blame the studio for not being able to forecast this success as the original  game gathered less than 7K players. Have you faced any issues playing  Helldivers 2? Vent in the comments.
Or maybe play something else while  you wait, like the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo which has now been  updated with a new area and features. Players can now go around the Junon region  with Cloud and the rest of the crew, with content unique to the demo plus improvements  in visual fidelity in Performance mode. If you are not playing to avoid spoilers well  maybe go and block anything related to the game on social media or YouTube as physical  copies have leaked one week before launch, and ke
y story details are  starting to appear online. There's not much to wait for as the game comes out  in just a week, and after that, we can then start waiting for Part 3 which game director Naoki  Hamaguchi has said could be out by early 2028. Waiting is just part of the game. How are the hype levels for Final  Fantasy VII Rebirth this close to launch? Have you played the demo?  Voice your opinion in the comments. The wait is not that long now for the new  Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC as
From Software and Bandai Namco have  revealed the first gameplay trailer. The 3-minute video showcases what  From Software has promised as their largest expansion yet which creator Hidetaka  Miyazaki has said was formed of leftover ideas of the original campaign's development, now  transformed into an expansive new adventure. The expansion will introduce a new  area with a new map sharing a similar structure to the original map including  fields and dungeons of different sizes, over 10 challengi
ng boss fights are  included as well as new weapons and skills. In terms of story, the DLC  explores the story of Miquella, and Miyazaki has said the difficulty will match  the endgame of Elden Ring with the same freedom in how to approach different challenges so  players can tackle them at their own pace. Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree  comes out this June 21st for PS4, PS5, XBO, XS, and PC and pre-orders are  available now for both the DLC and the new bundle including the original  game, all
of them digital only. The DLC standalone will be $40,  and a Premium edition costs $50 and includes a Digital art book and soundtrack. Then there's the Elden Ring SOTE edition for  $80 including the base game and expansion, the SOTE Deluxe edition will include all that  plus the Digital Artbook and Soundtrack for $100. The only physical version is the Collector's  Edition which is available through the Bandai Namco store for $250. It comes with a 40-page  digital art book, a digital soundtrack,
a Mesmer the Impaler figure, and a voucher to download  the DLC, it doesn't include the original game. Pre-ordering any of these editions gets you early access to the Ring of Miquella  Gesture when the DLC launches. Well with that we can go back to wondering  if there will be a Bloodborne remake, as creator Hidetaka Miyazaki said in  an interview with Eurogamer that it's a "title they hold very dear and just as  much as their fans" and that "having new hardware is definitely what gives these re
makes  value" given there are "things you weren't able to achieve on previous generations of hardware."  and allows more players to appreciate the games. He also said he was "very happy" to  see fans asking for a remake but he apologized for being unable  to talk about any specifics. It's interesting he mentions new  hardware as the Bloodborne remake has been linked to PS6 but it'd be an  interesting choice for a PS5 Pro as well. Anyway, will you be playing the upcoming  Elden Ring DLC? Are you
still hoping for a Bloodborne remake? Let us know in the comments. Now time for a round of quick-fire gaming news: Sony president Hiroki Totoki suggests Bungie  should improve accountability for development timelines. He acknowledged the creativity  and dedication of everyone at the studio but he sees there's room for improvement given all  the issues they've had over the previous year. This was part of a translation correction  Sony published from its Q3 result where it seemed like profitabilit
y was an issue for  all PlayStation studios but this clarifies it's Bungie right now. The clarification  also showed what Totoki meant to say when talking about taking games multiplatform  and that includes PC, VR, cloud, and mobile. Google engineers have hacked  the PlayStation Portal, enabling it to run PSP games locally  with the PPSSPP emulator. Andy Nguyen posted a photo on Twitter with the device  running Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories, and he worked on it alongside users XYZ and  Zeta
Two. They won't be publishing the hack yet as it still requires some work but Nguyen  confirmed the exploit is all software-based. Indie game Little Devil Inside has reappeared as  developers released a six-minute gameplay video, reassuring fans that the game is not  canceled. The update includes progress on the Kickstarter campaign and the  decision to switch to Unreal Engine 5. They are also seemingly looking  for a new publisher for the game Sega's new Crazy Taxi game is rumored to embrace  l
ive service elements with a '100-person survival mode', inspired by GTA Online and Fortnite. Leaker  Midori suggests the game will launch alongside a remake and offer competitive elements to  compete with modern games. Jet Set Radio is also reportedly receiving a remake and live service  reboot with shooting elements similar to Fortnite. Steel City Interactive has said they are  working on bringing Undisputed Boxing to PS5 and Xbox Series consoles but they  are not yet ready to announce a releas
e date. The game has been in Early Access  on Steam and they are trying to reach that final version by focusing on polish,  bug squashing, and gameplay balancing. Criterion Games has announced another year of  post-launch support for Need for Speed Unbound, marking the franchise's 30th anniversary.  Four drops of new content will be released, inspired by past Need for Speed  titles, each including new modes, events, PvP playlists, cars, quality  of life improvements, and a Speed Pass. Gearbox fo
under Randy Pitchford has hinted at  Borderlands 4 possibly being in development during an interview with IGN to promote the  new movie trailer. He said they are working on something that is "the greatest thing  [they've] ever done" but it's not time to reveal yet. Reddit fans speculate the Twitter  account may also be hinting at a reveal at the upcoming PAX East as they are posting video  recaps for the story of the previous games. In the meantime, coming from Gearbox  publishing is cult-favori
te MOBA Gigantic: Rampage Edition returning after five years with  new characters. The game will be ditching the free-to-play model for a $20 premium access  with free updates including a ranked mode and hero skins. It will be launching this  April 9 with crossplay on consoles and PCs. SloClap celebrates Sifu's second anniversary and  three million sales with two new outfits. One of them is inspired by the previous SloClap title  Absolver, while the other one is a street-style jumpsuit, requeste
d by the community. This says  a lot about the studio's commitment to the game launching a new update after they said they  had finished their work on it last September. Microsoft has finally confirmed the 4 Xbox games  to launch on other platforms. Pentiment is out now on PS4, PS5, and Switch; Hi-Fi Rush launches on  PS5 this March 19; Grounded will be out for PS4, PS5, and Switch on April 16; and Rare delivers  its first PlayStation game in 39 years with Sea of Thieves on PS5 this April 30th.
All  games will be up for wishlist starting today, and both Grounded and Sea of  Thieves will have crossplay. Futurlab has dated the upcoming Warhammer 40K  DLC for Power Wash Simulator allowing players to clean iconic units like Land Raiders and  Dreadnoughts. It launches this February 27 on all platforms for $8 or equivalent. The DLC  joins previous packs inspired by Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, SpongeBob  SquarePants, and Back to the Future. And those are the PlayStation stories for
