A new report says PS5 Pro isÂ
indeed launching this year, Insomniac details everything onÂ
Spider-Man New Game Plus update, the saga of Arrowhead trying to fix HelldiversÂ
continues, and all the launch details for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. All that and moreÂ
in today's PlayStation News, let's get to them! First up, a quick update on the new PlayStationÂ
Plus catalog games available to download now. On the games catalog, there's NeedÂ
for Speed Unbound, The Outer Worlds Spacer's Choice ed
ition, Tales of Arise,Â
Assassin's Creed Valhalla, LEGO Worlds, LEGO Jurassic World, Roguebook,Â
Rogue Lords, and Tales of Zestiria. Then the classics catalog addsÂ
Resistance Retribution, Jet Moto 2, Tales of Symphonia, and Tales of Vesperia. Good news for anyone looking to add theÂ
Resistance Retribution platinum to their shelf, as the game only asks you to beat 23 unmissableÂ
story-related objectives, plus try 5 weapons, take down 50 enemies, and die once. SoÂ
overall, it is a very easy plati
num. Besides all that, Deluxe and Premium usersÂ
also get a new one-hour trial for Balatro, a roguelike deck builder that changes theÂ
rules of poker and has a 92 on Metacritic. We also know 7 games will be leaving the catalogÂ
next month including Tchia, Ghostwire Tokyo, Civilization VI, NEO The World Ends WithÂ
You, Code Vein, Outer Wilds, and Haven. As per our poll, you guys think this was a greatÂ
update with 62% voting in favor, 21% neutral, and 18% against; and the games you are mostÂ
inte
rested in are Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Need for Speed Unbound, The OuterÂ
Worlds, and Resistance Retribution. Which PlayStation Plus games are you playingÂ
this month? Share with us in the comments. Next, there's a new report from CNBC thatÂ
supports the release of a PS5 Pro in the second half of the year which previous rumorsÂ
have said will feature Sony's own DLSS solution. Analysts think there will be a new modelÂ
to boost the interest in PS5 after Sony had to cut their console forecast fro
m 25 toÂ
21 million units, and to provide a beefed-up option for one of the most anticipatedÂ
games of next year, Grand Theft Auto 6. Kantan Games analyst Serkan Toto saysÂ
âThere seems to be a broad consensus in the game industry that Sony is indeed preparing aÂ
launch of a PS5 Pro in the second half of 2024,â âAnd Sony will want to make sure to have a greatÂ
piece of hardware ready when GTA VI hits in 2025, a launch that will be a shot in theÂ
arm for the entire gaming industry.â However, if a
nd when Sony does launchÂ
a new PS5 Pro, don't expect the regular model to go down in price according to GeorgeÂ
Jijiashvili, senior principal analyst at Omdia. The reason is what we were talkingÂ
about in the previous video that parts for manufacturing PS5 are not going down in price for Sony to earn a profit in theÂ
console, unlike previous generations. The Omdia analyst points out that given thatÂ
issue, there's still a scenario "where Sony launches the PS5 Pro but still experiencesÂ
declinin
g year-on-year hardware sales". PS5 has been nearly 4 yearsÂ
in the market and with most games being cross-gen it seems theÂ
hardware is just starting to hit its stride so it remains to be seen if a ProÂ
version gathers a significant audience. The PS4 Pro keynote in September 2016Â
fell flat with the media calling it a hard sell and Sony has never disclosedÂ
sales of that version only saying in 2017 that 1 in every 5 PS4 sold was a Pro version. 2016 was a record year for PS4 with 20 millionÂ
uni
ts sold but little is related to PS4 Pro, Sony had left the PS3 behind by thenÂ
and we had games like Dark Souls III, Uncharted 4, Fallout 4, PersonaÂ
5, and promise of 2017 games such as Horizon Zero Dawn, ResidentÂ
Evil 7, and Gran Turismo Sport. Grand Theft Auto 6 will sell a lotÂ
but given Take Two's recent results it will likely arrive after March 2025Â
which means there will be a gap that Sony needs to fill to launch a PS5 Pro withÂ
games that take advantage of the hardware, and they have
said they have no plans forÂ
new entries in major franchises this year. Would you be interested in a PS5Â
Pro? Let us know in the comments. Moving on, Insomniac has announcedÂ
the full details for the Spider-Man 2 new game plus mode adding a bunchÂ
of costumes and new options as well. The update set to launch this March 7 willÂ
let you replay the game with all suits and abilities while unlocking additional contentÂ
like Ultimate Levels and Golden Gadget styles. There are also more suits andÂ
cus
tomization options as players can customize Peter's symbiote suits orÂ
change into the new Hellfire Gala costumes with designs from comic book artistsÂ
Russell Dauterman and Bernard Chang. Besides that, there are enhancements to photoÂ
mode with action figure mode and stickers, alongside accessibility features likeÂ
Audio descriptions and a screen reader. Insomniac has also partnered with Gameheads, an organization that fosters diverse talent andÂ
empowers low-income youth in the gaming industry
, and they will be launching theÂ
Fly N' Fresh suit paid DLC pack. The pack will be available from March 7Â
to April 5, and for $5 you can get early access to a Fly suit for Peter, a FreshÂ
suit for Miles, 10 photo mode stickers, and 2 photo mode frames with 100% ofÂ
the purchase price going to Gameheads. The costumes will be made available forÂ
free for all players at a later date. Will you be going back to Spider-Man 2 toÂ
replay the game? Share with us in the comments. Now, there is more news
on the sagaÂ
of Arrowhead and their quest to keep up with server demand for HelldiversÂ
2's surge in popularity since launch. The Swedish studio has released patch 1.10Â
as of recording to resolve matchmaking issues and prepare for increased server loadÂ
according to game director and CEO Johan Pilestedt. People are still facing loginÂ
issues so there's still work to be done. Pilestedt also addressed the serverÂ
issues indicating that is not as easy as just adding more servers. While replyingÂ
to a deleted tweet he explained they are working on backend code optimizationÂ
which is hitting some real limits. The issues with the game have also led theÂ
directive to recommend players to buy the game later in another Twitter reply.Â
He said that while they have "made a really fun game itâs worth waitingÂ
until the servers can support the capacity" as he'd be heartbroken if theyÂ
spent cash to get stuck in server queues. One of the features the developer is hoping toÂ
implement is an auto ki
ck feature for players away from the game given many have admitted toÂ
remaining logged into the game to avoid issues when trying to log in again, resultingÂ
in other users not being able to play. Helldivers 2 keeps reaching new heightsÂ
in player count on Steam now surpassing 450K users as of recording, I don'tÂ
blame the studio for not being able to forecast this success as the originalÂ
game gathered less than 7K players. Have you faced any issues playingÂ
Helldivers 2? Vent in the comments.
Or maybe play something else whileÂ
you wait, like the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo which has now beenÂ
updated with a new area and features. Players can now go around the Junon regionÂ
with Cloud and the rest of the crew, with content unique to the demo plus improvementsÂ
in visual fidelity in Performance mode. If you are not playing to avoid spoilers wellÂ
maybe go and block anything related to the game on social media or YouTube as physicalÂ
copies have leaked one week before launch, and ke
y story details areÂ
starting to appear online. There's not much to wait for as the game comes outÂ
in just a week, and after that, we can then start waiting for Part 3 which game director NaokiÂ
Hamaguchi has said could be out by early 2028. Waiting is just part of the game. How are the hype levels for FinalÂ
Fantasy VII Rebirth this close to launch? Have you played the demo?Â
Voice your opinion in the comments. The wait is not that long now for the newÂ
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC as
From Software and Bandai Namco haveÂ
revealed the first gameplay trailer. The 3-minute video showcases whatÂ
From Software has promised as their largest expansion yet which creator HidetakaÂ
Miyazaki has said was formed of leftover ideas of the original campaign's development, nowÂ
transformed into an expansive new adventure. The expansion will introduce a newÂ
area with a new map sharing a similar structure to the original map includingÂ
fields and dungeons of different sizes, over 10 challengi
ng boss fights areÂ
included as well as new weapons and skills. In terms of story, the DLCÂ
explores the story of Miquella, and Miyazaki has said the difficulty will matchÂ
the endgame of Elden Ring with the same freedom in how to approach different challenges soÂ
players can tackle them at their own pace. Elden Ring Shadow of the ErdtreeÂ
comes out this June 21st for PS4, PS5, XBO, XS, and PC and pre-orders areÂ
available now for both the DLC and the new bundle including the originalÂ
game, all
of them digital only. The DLC standalone will be $40,Â
and a Premium edition costs $50 and includes a Digital art book and soundtrack. Then there's the Elden Ring SOTE edition forÂ
$80 including the base game and expansion, the SOTE Deluxe edition will include all thatÂ
plus the Digital Artbook and Soundtrack for $100. The only physical version is the Collector'sÂ
Edition which is available through the Bandai Namco store for $250. It comes with a 40-pageÂ
digital art book, a digital soundtrack,
a Mesmer the Impaler figure, and a voucher to downloadÂ
the DLC, it doesn't include the original game. Pre-ordering any of these editions gets you early access to the Ring of MiquellaÂ
Gesture when the DLC launches. Well with that we can go back to wonderingÂ
if there will be a Bloodborne remake, as creator Hidetaka Miyazaki said inÂ
an interview with Eurogamer that it's a "title they hold very dear and just asÂ
much as their fans" and that "having new hardware is definitely what gives these re
makesÂ
value" given there are "things you weren't able to achieve on previous generations of hardware."Â
and allows more players to appreciate the games. He also said he was "very happy" toÂ
see fans asking for a remake but he apologized for being unableÂ
to talk about any specifics. It's interesting he mentions newÂ
hardware as the Bloodborne remake has been linked to PS6 but it'd be anÂ
interesting choice for a PS5 Pro as well. Anyway, will you be playing the upcomingÂ
Elden Ring DLC? Are you
still hoping for a Bloodborne remake? Let us know in the comments. Now time for a round of quick-fire gaming news: Sony president Hiroki Totoki suggests BungieÂ
should improve accountability for development timelines. He acknowledged the creativityÂ
and dedication of everyone at the studio but he sees there's room for improvement given allÂ
the issues they've had over the previous year. This was part of a translation correctionÂ
Sony published from its Q3 result where it seemed like profitabilit
y was an issue forÂ
all PlayStation studios but this clarifies it's Bungie right now. The clarificationÂ
also showed what Totoki meant to say when talking about taking games multiplatformÂ
and that includes PC, VR, cloud, and mobile. Google engineers have hackedÂ
the PlayStation Portal, enabling it to run PSP games locallyÂ
with the PPSSPP emulator. Andy Nguyen posted a photo on Twitter with the deviceÂ
running Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories, and he worked on it alongside users XYZ andÂ
Zeta
Two. They won't be publishing the hack yet as it still requires some work but NguyenÂ
confirmed the exploit is all software-based. Indie game Little Devil Inside has reappeared asÂ
developers released a six-minute gameplay video, reassuring fans that the game is notÂ
canceled. The update includes progress on the Kickstarter campaign and theÂ
decision to switch to Unreal Engine 5. They are also seemingly lookingÂ
for a new publisher for the game Sega's new Crazy Taxi game is rumored to embraceÂ
l
ive service elements with a '100-person survival mode', inspired by GTA Online and Fortnite. LeakerÂ
Midori suggests the game will launch alongside a remake and offer competitive elements toÂ
compete with modern games. Jet Set Radio is also reportedly receiving a remake and live serviceÂ
reboot with shooting elements similar to Fortnite. Steel City Interactive has said they areÂ
working on bringing Undisputed Boxing to PS5 and Xbox Series consoles but theyÂ
are not yet ready to announce a releas
e date. The game has been in Early AccessÂ
on Steam and they are trying to reach that final version by focusing on polish,Â
bug squashing, and gameplay balancing. Criterion Games has announced another year ofÂ
post-launch support for Need for Speed Unbound, marking the franchise's 30th anniversary.Â
Four drops of new content will be released, inspired by past Need for SpeedÂ
titles, each including new modes, events, PvP playlists, cars, qualityÂ
of life improvements, and a Speed Pass. Gearbox fo
under Randy Pitchford has hinted atÂ
Borderlands 4 possibly being in development during an interview with IGN to promote theÂ
new movie trailer. He said they are working on something that is "the greatest thingÂ
[they've] ever done" but it's not time to reveal yet. Reddit fans speculate the TwitterÂ
account may also be hinting at a reveal at the upcoming PAX East as they are posting videoÂ
recaps for the story of the previous games. In the meantime, coming from GearboxÂ
publishing is cult-favori
te MOBA Gigantic: Rampage Edition returning after five years withÂ
new characters. The game will be ditching the free-to-play model for a $20 premium accessÂ
with free updates including a ranked mode and hero skins. It will be launching thisÂ
April 9 with crossplay on consoles and PCs. SloClap celebrates Sifu's second anniversary andÂ
three million sales with two new outfits. One of them is inspired by the previous SloClap titleÂ
Absolver, while the other one is a street-style jumpsuit, requeste
d by the community. This saysÂ
a lot about the studio's commitment to the game launching a new update after they said theyÂ
had finished their work on it last September. Microsoft has finally confirmed the 4 Xbox gamesÂ
to launch on other platforms. Pentiment is out now on PS4, PS5, and Switch; Hi-Fi Rush launches onÂ
PS5 this March 19; Grounded will be out for PS4, PS5, and Switch on April 16; and Rare deliversÂ
its first PlayStation game in 39 years with Sea of Thieves on PS5 this April 30th.
AllÂ
games will be up for wishlist starting today, and both Grounded and Sea ofÂ
Thieves will have crossplay. Futurlab has dated the upcoming Warhammer 40KÂ
DLC for Power Wash Simulator allowing players to clean iconic units like Land Raiders andÂ
Dreadnoughts. It launches this February 27 on all platforms for $8 or equivalent. The DLCÂ
joins previous packs inspired by Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, SpongeBobÂ
SquarePants, and Back to the Future. And those are the PlayStation stories forÂ
today, come back on Friday for a new video but remember to share your thoughts on any of thisÂ
news in the comments below, like or dislike to let me know your feedback, check out other videosÂ
