(bright music) - [Jonathan] Oh my God, there is Benjamin Franklin's house. - [Group] Ooh! - Don't you realize that literally, Alexander Hamilton probably invented the economy in that very building? - He did? - Yeah. - Ah. - Ugh, gorgeous Philly. Yes, we're here, we're ready, yay! Our hero this week is William Holmes, AKA, which I don't know if you knew this, but that stands for as known as- - Holmes. - Holmes? - Yeah, like Sherlock Holmes, honey. - Ooh. - I'm a man with a plan. I'm preparing for
the future, and the sooner you prepare yourself, the better. - He's 26. He's born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. - Brooklyn boy! - Yes. (group laughs) A year and a half ago, Holmes relocated to Philly from Brooklyn to take a job as a lead supply attendant for Delta Air Lines at the Philadelphia International Airport. - Wow. - Love a strong title. - He has been working for Delta for the last seven years, and he's been promoted four times. Que official! (group laughs) (upbeat music) His nomina
tor is Judy, the station manager for Delta. - Holmes is young, but he has such an old soul. He has a lot going on for him. I see potential in him. - And don't forget, Rose, gorgeous name, which is his girlfriend of 7+ years. - That's a long time to grow as an individual, and I know a lot about him, inside and out, and every day, I love him more. - Wow, he's got like commitment all over the place. (upbeat music) Holmes and Rose are in a long-distance relationship, otherwise known as an LDR. - The
transition from him living in Brooklyn to Philadelphia has been a little bit difficult. We switch off weekends from time to time. Sometimes, we'll meet in the middle. - Holmes lives with four roommates in his first-ever apartment. Congrats! But stays to himself in his room. When Rose visits, they tend to stay in to keep costs low. - He's heavily burdened with the student loans that he had that debt, and he felt, until he can pay it off, he's not living for today. - As most millennials know, stu
dent loan debt, or just debt in general is what's really slowing our generation down. - He lives such a minimalist lifestyle. - Sometimes, having a bag of chips on a weekend is my cheat day. - Because he puts all of his effort toward paying off his debt. - One thing that I will take the grave with me that my grandma taught me is to look out after yourself. - His grandmother recently passed away, but because he was raised by his grandparents, he's really grounded and he thinks that he should be s
omewhere different in life right now and his debt is kind of holding him back. - The fun will come later. That's the way I see it. (upbeat music) - We are 26 years old. You're only young once, and he calls his grandfather Pops. So sometimes, I'll be like, okay, Pops, we're going out, like we're going out. We're too young for this. Let's go. (upbeat music) - Beyond picking lint out of his hair in the morning, he doesn't touch much. When he's not wearing his work uniform, Holmes is all about comfo

(group laughs) - Rose is coming this weekend, and he needs the Fab 5 to help him show Rose that he's still the spontaneous man she loves. - Aww. - I want the world to actually get a good vision of who Will actually is, and not just his budgeting that has created this new version of himself. (upbeat music) - He's 26 years old. He really needs work/life bala

Hello all it is me William Holmes...I am now free of student loans and now am a home owner...a couple of years can really change a person's life! I am truly grateful for the opportunity to share my story and actually making something out of it! Happy Holidays everyone!

@bru_lz

Surprise episode of QE is the kind of thing you didn’t know you missed so much

@JeremyMYG

Poverty really breaks a person down. We don’t get to talk about it much, but the trauma of poverty can be insane. Being able to get this moment of joy and perspective hopefully works wonders. I relate to Will’s story. I’m 31 now and in a significantly better place than when I was 26. Rooting for Will!

@BrentonParry

That poor man is so focused on getting out of debt that he feels like a failure and has forgotten how to find joy. His face making that pie was so happy!

@Caitlin_

I didn’t realise how much I needed queer eye again until I watched this. Whenever I see the fab 5, and their empowerment truly gives me new life. I think I’ve got a rewatch on the horizon

@tovahjohnson8550

Kinda shitty for Delta to not at least partially pay off student loan debt for such a loyal employee (7+ years) that they are using for content/marketing. You would think that a company as large as Delta would have a program to assist long term employees with student debt.

@michellebush4556

The Fab 5 restored my faith in humanity, no joke.

@mromero37

Can we talk about Sci-Fi? She is gorgeous and so talented.

@freyjabrigid

The way I cried when Holmes was stirring the pie filling 🥺

@eily_b

Paying for education should be forbidden. This ist totally unimaginable for me over here in Western Europe We all pay for our students to have a proper education and I am proud of that. Young people should not start their lives in debt.

@leleprtk

He’s an absolute sweetheart and he is GORGEOUS, his smile is just beautiful 🥺💝 he deserves all the best always!!!

@maunbraun2904

I cried four times watching this episode. I relate to Will’s story so much; debt crushes the spirit, which can be especially hard for ldr because work and bills are already so tiresome. But he is such a beautiful person, and you can see his radiance and joy for life when the pressure is eased. He and Rose deserve the best!

@lolitabubbles26

Not to be a thirsty girl on the internet, but that barber can get it. Also, Will, you're doing fine my dude. I'm 34 and still in school and we're all in this debt boat together. Hopefully we'll have enough people in the government someday who actually care about us enough to reform student loans and healthcare because they are VERY intertwined.

@karabohlen619

Loved the episode but was SOO disappointed they didn’t erase his student loan debt. It would have been zero burden to Netflix to take that awful burden off of his shoulders. It’s clearly the main stresser in his life 😓

@MR-wz9zw

We need student loan forgiveness. Millennials are the hardest working and most educated generation, but we're bogged down by stagnating incomes and higher cost of living. It's like we've done everything right, but we've been dealt the worst hand.

@TheVelvetLoungeLife

He's such a gift. His Grandma would be so incredibly proud of him. I'd be happy to have him as a son or son-in-law.

@k0ney

it's upsetting seeing someone so much more competent and hardworking than most people struggling because of education debt ;/

@misslizalot

Delta and QE should have paid off a portion (or even all) of this guys debt 💯💯

@sci_fictional

It was an honor being apart of this transformation! Thanks Jonathan Van Ness! My skills are still "Unparalleled" as you mentioned a year ago! ❤😊

@noon5447

i am not a tv watcher by any means but this genuinely fills my heart with such joy?? this is such a wholesome and amazing show??????? like this is a slice of happiness and feel good that makes life a little better i ADORE this
