Racing for ALS 2024 Update "Back in Black" Hendrick Track Attack Camaro ZL1

Hey everybody Scott Lloyd with Racing for  ALS we're here today to tell you about the 2024 season the awesome new wrap that Red  Eye Designs did on our car Dale our new partner MongoDB and all that we're going  to be doing with them and they're Racing for Kendrick effort and we're just excited to  show you around the car so let's get to it [Music] [Airplane Jet Engine] Hey everybody Scott Lloyd, President of Racing  for ALS, glad to be with you today it's a big day for us it's a day honestly tha

t I was hoping  would never come because I never wanted to run this paint scheme but it's something that I'd  had in my head for a while that if we lost Dave that this would be the thing that we would do to  honor him and so you can see that our car which has been blue for all these years we now I have  put it in black for this year and you can see on the back our kind of memorial for Dave and just  remembering Dave and the person that he was and how he inspired all of us and you know the fact 

that we're out Racing for Dave but for us the 2024 season brings about new hope we're seeing a lot  of big things coming out of research for ALS we're seeing a lot of new gene variants discovered a lot  of new drugs coming out three you know 300% more drugs than we've ever had you know coming out you  know for ALS treatment and we have a new partner this year that we really excited about it and  you can kind of see here starting with this new fire suit that we have for 2024 but also like to brin

g  you around uh to show you our sponsors panel and obviously MongoDB who is going to be our primary  sponsor this year and we are so appreciative to MongoDB they have given funding for us to be  able to do our races this year to make sure that 100% of anything that you donate or fund  raise goes to where it should ALS TDI ,the Duke ALS clinic and their research with Dr. Bedlack,  or our Patient Assistance funds and so we're so grateful to the MongoDB team but I've also got to  tell you have a l

t challenge Peder Ulander I'm here to support Kendrick Cummings  for the ALS uh ice bucket challenge and our dear friend and colleague Kendrick Cummings our  great friend Kendrick let's do this yeah [Music] oh Aww! sh woo I mean I don't know that the fuss was about Did they all get three buckets? No just  you. [Laughing] but that's who MongoDB is Racing for is  Kendrick and I've got to tell you that through the years you know the doctors told me in 2019 that my brother would be gone by the end

of that  Year my brother made it until July of of last year 2023 and he talked about all the time how the  Racing for ALS team kept him going and pushed him forward and being there with his kids and being  able to watch them swim and having that hope and having that drive and that's what you're doing  for Kendrick for for our folks there at MongoDB you're giving him that support you're giving him  that drive and that's an amazing thing that you're doing and we're going to take that money we're 

going to keep fighting and keep racing and try to help #ENDALS all right, especially for our  folks at MongoDB that might be new to Racing for ALS and who we are, obviously it's more than just this car it's more than me and my brother it's a big group of racers that go around the  country and help raise money every year and do high performance driving events that we know  you're going to get to come out with us and we're going to get you on track and hopefully get  to have some fun with you but

our primary vehicle that I I'm the lucky one that gets to drive is  Dale and Dale is our Hendrick Track Attack Stock Car this car was formerly raised first by Kasey  Kahne, then by Chase Elliott and then William Byron all of them raced it at Watkins Glen that  was what the car was built for up in New York this car was last raced or race trim in 2019 and at the end of that season right after that race they pulled the seat out and put a bigger  one in for me uh and changed the motor and you did th

e things that they did uh so this is a  again as raced in NASCAR and if you come around and look I mean you can see running all the  the safety gear you know the this The netting, you know the the carbon fiber seat this is  actually a Dale Jr. seat with a poured seat for me that fits me and everything that's in  here you know you can see you know all of the roof flaps I mean literally you know everything  that you would see in a regular NASCAR to make sure that we have all the Safety and Securit

y that  we need to go out and race and raise money for ALS and do it safely all right so we said that they  changed the motor and they did you can see this is where all the fun stuff happens this is an  LSX 454 motor it's been rebuilt by Ilmor Racing They put a FAST intake on there. We're putting out about 700 horse power. and this car weighs only 3,150 pounds I'm not going to tell you how much it weighs when I get in it. It's kind of embarrassing. Still, it's a really light car. Really fast. Yo

u can see the tubular chassis. The suspension. Everything was custom built to do road course racing. So, unlike other cars that were former circle track cars, this car does amazing at the places we go, like Watkins Glen, Daytona, VIR, Road Atlanta We've gotten to run this car as far as Big Willow in California We've been able to cover a lot of ground and Lord willing we'll keep doing that until we can find an end to this disease. so obviously, the 2024 season is something different for us. Now,

what's the same? We want to help as many people as we can. And we want to do as much as we can to positively impact the ALS community, but obviously, it's going to be about Dave this year and for us it's going to be about remembering Dave. see you know where my name should be it says  Racing for Dave and on the car and you know other other Racers out there have been been  doing tributes because Dave was a special guy and uh Dave did a lot to help people a lot  of things that people didn't know a

bout until he was gone and all the stories that came out  about everything he was doing under the radar to support people and you know and pour  himself into their lives and help people and so you know we've got David saying on here  don't waste a moment go drive and that's what we're going to do in 2024 we're going to go  drive as hard as we can and do everything we can to #ENDALS in honor of Dave and to our folks  at MongoDB we're grateful to be a part of your journey with Kendrick going throu

gh ALS and  fighting this disease with everything he has and everything we have uh we're seeing a lot of  positive things coming out you know through the work that's being done so thank you for  being our partner in that let's go END ALS. [Music] [Jet Engine]
