This boy was born into a life of starvation,  extreme poverty, and probably long hours of work on farms for little pay in Malawi,  one of Africa's poorest countries. However, his life changed dramatically 17 years ago when  Madonna, One of the wealthiest and most well-known singers globally, adopted him. Overnight, he went  from living in the poorest country in Africa to residing in a luxurious property in London.  How's he doing now? And what does he look like? But before we begin, don’t forget
to click subscribe if you want more stories  in the future. Let's get started. Being born in Malawi can be very tough because  a lot of people there are extremely poor. Almost two-thirds of the population live on less than  $1.9 per day. Some families are so poor that they have to send their children to orphanages.  This happened to David Banda when his mother and three siblings died from AIDS shortly  after he was born. His father had no choice but to place him in an orphanage. The man was a
struggling farmer who grew cabbages and onions, but his family still didn't have enough food to  eat. He had children from a previous marriage and a new wife. He rarely brought David home and  never visited him at the orphanage. As a result, David has been living in the orphanage  since he was two weeks old. His first 13 months were difficult, but he managed  to avoid malaria and other diseases. None of his extended family has visited  him since he arrived at the orphanage. This young child rece
ived a miraculous  opportunity when the famous Madonna visited him in 2006. At the time, the 48-year-old  singer had two children, Rocco and Lourdes, from her marriage to movie director Guy Ritchie.  Madonna is extremely wealthy and has been involved in charitable activities for a long time. In 2018,  Forbes estimated her net worth to be $590 million, making her the 26th richest self-made woman in  America. In 2006, Madonna traveled to Malawi, a developing country in Africa, and  established the
nonprofit organization Raising Malawi. During one of her visits to  the Home of Hope orphanage, she met David, a 13-month-old boy, and decided to adopt him.  Liz Rosenberg, a spokesperson for Madonna, described the moment as "love at  first sight." Witnesses also added: “The look of pure joy on her face was beyond  words, not unlike when her children were born.” Madonna was acquainted with the biological  father of the boy and understood the legal complexities of adopting a child in Malawi  as
a foreigner. While experts recommended adopting from countries with simpler  adoption processes like Kenya or Ethiopia, Madonna was deeply attached to little David and  determined to overcome any obstacles for his sake. She personally spoke with the boy's biological  father, Yohane Banda, discussing his history and thoughts on David's adoption. Convinced  that it would be in the child's best interest, Yohane agreed to the adoption. Speaking to the  Associated Press, he said, "I am David's father
, and he has been adopted. I am very,  very happy because, as you can see, there is poverty in this village, and I know  he will be well looked after in America." At first, it looked like Madonna had  fixed the issue and could enjoy life with her adopted son in her fancy house.  But things weren't that simple. In Malawi, the law says foreign adopters must live  there for 18 months. Madonna didn't do this, causing a big scandal. The press accused her of  using her celebrity status to ignore Malaw
ian rules and rush the adoption process. Following  that, human rights groups in Malawi warned that they might take legal action against the  singer and her husband for breaking local adoption regulations. Madonna feared she  might lose David. She openly shared her feelings on the Oprah Winfrey show, saying, "I  understand that gossip and negative stories sell newspapers. But it's disheartening because  it might discourage others from adopting." The problem got worse when David's  biological dad
said he didn't want his son to leave the country forever.  Madonna thought the media had made him say that. "They made up a story," Madonna  said. Later, David's dad, Yohane Banda, admitted he was being bothered by activists  every day. They wanted him to help their case against Madonna, but he couldn't because  he agreed with her. Finally, in 2008, the adoption was finished. David went from Africa  to a fancy house in London. He now has a great life with Madonna and her family. Even though he
lost his real mom, he found a new one in Madonna. David met his biological father in Malawi when  he was four years old. Madonna, who had adopted David, was open with him about his biological  father. However, David had already become attached to his new family, so he probably didn't want to  go back to his hometown. Yohane, his biological father, didn't try to take him back and thanked  Madonna for saving his life. Even though Madonna had a busy schedule, she still loved and admired  David ver
y much. One day, she wrote on Instagram: 'David Banda!! I cannot believe you have grown  into This Young Man! This Artist. This Athlete. This Articulate and Charismatic Human. Who  knew when I met you at Home of Hope Orphanage in Malawi, drinking coke out of a baby bottle and  wearing no diaper that you would become this force of nature?’ David grew up a lot like his famous  mom. He loves singing and performing on stage, and he's not shy about wearing bold outfits,  even women's dresses sometime
s. If he did this in Malawi, people might be surprised, but  when your mom is Madonna, you can do anything. David's performances leave the audience stunned,  and he couldn't be happier about it. Madonna, his adoptive mother, takes pride in his  talents and often showcases his performances on her Instagram. Despite being only 18  years old, David shares a close bond with Madonna and enjoys singing and dancing with her.  They've shared the stage on multiple occasions, including at the Rebel Heart
Tour in 2015 where  they performed "Like a Prayer" together. They've also graced the red carpet together at events  like the 2014 Grammy Awards. David frequently accompanies Madonna to social gatherings  and doesn't shy away from interacting with the press. But it's unlikely that David wants  to become a famous singer. He prefers playing soccer much more and is focused on building  a career in sports. Madonna admitted in an interview with Vogue magazine that she  feels a strong connection with D
avid, whom she adopted from Malawi. She even said that  he understands her better than her biological children. The love between them is clear  as they often hug and spend time together. Do you agree that the true parent is  the one who gives love to the child, rather than just giving birth? and That's all for this video,  and please don't forget to click on 'subscribe' if you want more stories  in the future.
