welcome back everyone the missing college student found in the Cumberland River in Nashville will be laid to rest today 22-year-old Riley strains funeral will be in his hometown of Springfield Missouri he went missing on March 8th after being kicked out of Luke Bryan's bar his body was found two weeks later preliminary autopsy results rule his death an accident and Nashville police say there were no signs of Foul Play however Riley's family had a second autopsy performed and toxicology reports Y

et to Come Back The Coroner says there was little to no water in his lungs and when police pulled R Riley's body out of the water he wasn't wearing pants or his cowboy boots let's bring in news Nation Law And Justice contributor Jennifer coffindaffer Jennifer good morning good morning to you so Riley's family told news nation and I understand this they're confused there wasn't any water in Riley's lungs can you elaborate on that how does that happen does it mean he didn't drown like police are t

hinking well some Drowning victims as they struggle uh they actually have a spasm that occurs in their linix area and it closes off the ability for that water to enter their lungs or very little water to get through in their struggle this happens in about 10 to 15% of drowning of drownings and so they call it some call it dry drowning where you actually still suffocate I did not know that thank you for that we mentioned there's no toxicology report it hasn't been released yet so is it too early

for police to close this investigation well they can't close it on the books in other words administratively it's going to be open to contain those toxicology Rec reports when they return but as far as boots on the ground or working this there's no further investigation that can be done because they have determined what happened which was an accident he talked about boots on the ground ticktockers as you know not police found Riley's bank card on the bank of the Cumberland River it was the famil

y not police who called in the Cajun Navy to help organize a ground search which until then had not happened so looking back at how police conducted this investigation Jennifer is there anything you would have done differently do you think some mistakes were possibly made you know you bring up such good points you never in in in a police investigation want a tick tocker to find uh possible evidence if if I could you know I hate to armchair quarterback if you will these investigations but there a

re two improvements certainly I think they could have made first of all I wish they would have done a grid search of the area where he disappeared uh that could have been easily organized with volunteers and done uh so that that card and anything else would have been found by police and not by ticktockers secondarily it seems like the information from their W witness Vic victim coordinator which all large departments have wasn't done very well in other words communicating with the family about w

hat was happening in the search and the family like I mentioned before rightfully so has so many unanswered questions when it comes to Riley's death the bar kicked him out saying he was over served but should someone be held accountable when it comes to this 22y old's death well I don't think anyone will be held accountable at least based on the uh law that I've seen only you can only hold a bar accountable if a thirdparty person is damaged so in other words if Riley strain would have been intox
