Road to Rajd Beskidy by Team NonStop Adventure - Episode 2

THE ROAD TO RAJD BESKIDY – EPISODE TWO. Winter, bike, run, water and more vital experience ahead of the most important competition of the season with 142 days to go. On 13 January we took part in the Soła Valley Winter Race, organised by the Rajd Beskidy team. The four of us covered the whole route together, but the official results are in pairs: Marzka with Marek - 1st place MIX, Stasiu with Artur - 2nd place MM. The race was played in the rogaining formula, i.e. who collects more points over 12 hours. At first glance, it may seem that such winter racing has little to do with our main goal - the multi-day Rajd Beskidy planned for June, but there is a consensus in the team that taking part in competitions is one of the best training measures. So, without wasting the opportunity, we went for 12 hours of fun in the forest. We practised working together with a map [because two navigators are, in our opinion, a necessity during long races], we tested ourselves in crossing ditches, streams, small rivers. We looked at the different types of maps that Jurek always serves at his competitions and, at the end, we faced a bike breakdown. It wasn't boring! #arworldseries #adventure #adventureracing #worldstoughestteamsport

In a few moments starts the Winter Soła Valley Race This is how the maps look like we had to add some CPs using the coordinates but there are no paths on the maps 3 minutes before the start. Stas, can we help you somehow? just go away! are you going to take this whole bag of food with you? and so we're crossing the Soła River Marzka, Artur, Stasiu got the first CP, a good start quite a nice place, let's move on the best way to train for races is to race can't think of a better way to get ready f
or long races but to race short distances stage one is nearly over the running went quite well something over three hours instead of six one more check point and then we get on our bikes So how is it going, Marzka? It's pretty good, my cough hasn't killed me I'm still alive and hope for a good biking stage finally some fun during a winter race my camelbag has frozen frozen, in winter? That can't be They're all ponds 3 centimeters now 12 kilometers took us 1hour not a very fast pace coke flavour,
my goodness! so on this map there are plenty of ponds and dykes and there are six CPs to be found four of which we had to mark by ourselves and there we are- 20 minutes before the time limit a rear derailleur broke so I'm being pulled and pushed towards the finish line so what was the most interesting part of the race? I think it was estimating the distance and time left and as usual we did get a problem to solve at the very end 4 kilometers before the finish line my rear derailleur hanger brok
e we had to quickly rearrange our tow system fasten what was left of the derailleur to the frame and working together, towing and pushing, we reached the finish line the running went well biking was not bad either, but it was a tough stage and we managed to prove being a good team
