San Diego to crack down on businesses that set up bonfires, picnics, events on beach

San Diego is cracking down on businesses that operate on the sand at our local beaches. The City says the move is necessary following complaints from beachgoers, and people living near the beach, who say the events are loud and take away space meant for everyone to share. @Mlogan11

Problem is too many people have realized that having these events are profitable and over time if not stopped will result in all the best places on the beach always being reserved for business operations and not for the general public.

@bbustin1747

I see people camping all over the city sidewalks and open spaces. Where’s their permit ?

@michaeltabanao8092

How about banning pot holes 🕳 🙆........

@dreamcatcher68-tc4dw

You can dump sewage in the ocean and deficate on the sidewalks but you can't have a picnic or a have bonfire on the beach. No, no, no

@sue-annbray6250

How about cracking down on crime and leaving people alone to enjoy their lives

@Bebtelovimab

No brainer – private beach-event companies just need to purchase private beaches, to use as venues for their business.

@crzcloud

Same people complaining about living near the airport are now trying to own the beaches. Saying it’s for everyone to enjoy at the same time mad at those who take part of that enjoyment. This is a war against catering. Public property used by the public is not a bad thing. Just because you bought a place near a public space doesn’t entitle you to dictate what others can do when it’s convenient for you. California is failing…

@bbustin1747

Don’t tread on my beach 😂

@michaelb3581

Charging the beach clean up business is stupid.

@PitonGarrudo-od4sh

Blue light bon fires charges 2000 per private event on a public beach but we don't let a cornman sell corn.

@raymondchow8722

she saild: i got sand in my schlitz

@user-zh5fn7kx8x

More big Brother.... most people do not use the fire pits at the beach, so why not let an event use them.

@Alwayswrong2

Maybe also clear the boardwalks and parks from swap meet sellers?

@rh380

The lifeguard station and their storage building need to be removed. Violation of harbor frontages. . Blocking access. For cars. Plus, there are more parking signs.. And to really enforce harbor frontages. That hotel must be removed. And the parking lot replaced.
