Once the personal guard of an ancient line of kings, the Sandlancers evolved into a wealthy and independent military order hired by prosperous merchants and nobles to protect lucrative trade routes, pilgrims, shrines, and other assets. Operating under regional names and bearing various banners, Sandlancers collectively represent a brigade-level force of well-trained desert cavalry, fighters, and scouts. Unlike the Nichorocani, or Sons of Dust, who worship and fight for remote desert gods, or the Unsaken, who murder at the whim of the Warlocks of Eoln, the Sandlancers are mercenaries.
