please read this description i spent so much time writing this lmao
this entire project was no out of nowhere. i did not plan on making this at all, nor did i plan on making anything for ultec4. i did not even like the song until very recently.
you know what motivated me to make this? a geometry dash layout made by @voltz.- . you can watch it right here https://youtu.be/92wZcxoq5So . it reminded me that this song existed, and the rest is history. this is the strangest way ive gotten motivation for working on a personal project but i think it turned out well.
when it comes to project scale and vision, i think this one is way smaller than some of my previous works. I did try some new things like character animation and experimenting with different framerates on different layers, but overall i did not do anything TOO new. I spent around 30 days on this. to me, most of the scenes look really cool at first glance, but if you stare for more than 5 seconds you start noticing mistakes all over. this could have used some more polishing, but I didnt really have time due to my ongoing exams.
oh yes, my ongoing exams. so in India we have this really important exam called a board exam, and you gotta give 2 of them, one when youre 16 and another when youre 18. my first board exams are ongoing as I type this, I have my science test on friday. during this exam period, people are known to just give up all technology and study all day, but well, looks like i have neglected my studies quite a bit just by being able to make something like this. so i risked quite a bit by going for this project lol.
now as for what the animation means. yes its not just a random assortment of clips, it actually has a meaning that is pretty personal to me. simply, 2023 was a shit year for me mentally and this project is me letting the past go. the book is titled 2023 and the character throws it away, you get the point. its not too deep or anything. this might also be a really cliche or common plot but hey, as long as I get to express myself who really gives a shit.
lastly, i dont even know what to call this. its not an edit because it doesnt have any gameplay clips. i dont want to call it just an animation because thats too plain and boring. I dont want to call this a short film because thats corny af. looks like ive gotta invent my own words at this point.
OK YOU KNOW WHAT, im calling it a blender cinematic for now, i just renamed it. its just because I want better engagement and a wider audience. to a new viewer, I feel seeing the phase "blender cinematic" would make it very clear what it is. it is unfortunate having to stray away from the edgy one word titles.

this scene right here crashed so many times this was even worse. sincec its a night scene it had tons of noise and the denoiser had to work like an ox pretty pink so slay I made these parts because I was trying to experiment with a new technique/style basically, the camera movement doesnt change but the entire scene changes. instead of camera cuts, i used scene cuts if that makes any sense AS I WATCHED THE WATER UNFOLD i could barely play this scene in the viewport becuase of all the foliage ins
