all right I want to show you something this sticker right here on a Kia could keep thieves away it's the sticker that Ancira dealerships are placing on Windows of Kia vehicles that have gone through the anti-theft software updates the night team's Patty Santos tells us how in less than an hour older model Kia owners could have more peace of mind a stolen Kia found in this condition this is the same story being played out for Kia owners across the city it's a Tick-Tock Trend going on right now in
the phone we started reporting about the online challenge that sparked a rise in thefts of older model Kia and Hyundai cars made easy to steal due to a faulty ignition switch now some good news so we're doing the update now yeah in Hyundai software updates are now available for millions of vehicles saying this and switch off for 10 seconds Sean Madison software Tech at in Sierra Kia shows us how in less than 15 minutes he's able to update the vehicle's software so whenever you go to start the c
ar it reads the key now and if it doesn't see a key in the vehicle it won't start the vehicle just trying to get it out there and VP general manager of Ancira Kia Brian Rodriguez says the upgrades are available for Kia models older than 2022. this update is a dealer only specific update has to be done with the Kia computer owners will start getting letters in the mail notifying them about the updates fonts they can also just call local dealership to schedule one immediately it has been successfu
lly updated this sticker is placed on the side windows a warning to theme yeah so I said let the people know that it actually has a immobilizer system in it now but Rodriguez reminds drivers no vehicle can be made theft proof whether it's a Kia whether it's any other maker model if they want to steal it they're going to steal it they're not going to stop them Patty Santos case sad 12 News

I got the update. As long as you lock with the fob, if they open the door the horn goes off. And if they do manage to get in, jam something in the key hole and turn it, the horn goes off and the car will not start, just now verified that. But you MUST lock it with the fob. There's already one video posted showin this works.

@lucilleleftridge3987

I had the update done. But in November 2023 my car was broken into( they didn't notice the sticker on the window).Car wouldn't start, so they found out, but is was badly vandalized

@gs9mafia441

A sticker won’t keep them away they break windows and still tear a steering column and even if u take a battery out lol they can’t take the car but can cause a pocket

@michaelzeisler2257

Hyundai did this 6 months ago with the anti-theft protection

@streamer_services

Bro that dealer just lied to you guys....unless they actually put a chip in your key and put a receiver in the steering column there is no immobilizer....dont trust a sticker to keep your car safe guys

@andrewjimenez9609

Just add a kill switch to your cars lady’s and gentlemen your welcome

@rm8671

My car was stolen less than a week after the upgrade

@nataliahernandez5246

@leea3531

So is it Theft proof ? Or nah bruh . Also they couldn’t do this when they build the car 🤔 something is off about this

@alexmarroquin4631

It doesn't work I locked with the fob 10 mins later I came back and opened with the extra key and I was able to started it

@temle7489

Kia? LOL Don't buy it and spare yourself a big headache.

@alant8553

And it DOESN’T work. My mothers 2017 had the upgrade and it was still stolen. What a joke. I would NEVER buy these cars.
