now to Big Bear here's a live look at the mountain I want to bring in Justin Canton from Big Bear Mountain resort Justin thank you very much for joining us it's and as you heard the resort um I'm sure is expecting a lot of snow this weekend as well how are you guys preparing for it yeah absolutely right I mean today it's a nice bright beautiful sunny day out here on the slopes lots of people enjoying the snow but as David mentioned earlier we are expecting significant snowfall uh potentially com
ing in tonight continuing through tomorrow and Sunday so we could see upwards of two plus feet of snow with uh you know winds uh picking up in 40 50 m hour range at time so with that said should be great conditions on the slopes but if people are coming up they do need to be prepared take every precaution check road conditions have proper traction devices in their vehicle and most importantly know how to use them because the last place you want to figure out how to put on tire chains is on the s
ide of the road yeah you know and and let's talk about that a little bit more because there are people who do head up to the mountain and often times don't hear those recommendations so once again let's talk about what is crucial to bring up to the mountain if they are going to be visiting yeah first and foremost I would say if you're not comfortable or experienced driving extreme weather conditions probably best to just stay home this weekend wait for the system to clear out and then come see u
s next week or the weekend after but if they are coming up few things to keep in mind number one check road conditions to see if there are any closures or delays uh number two have proper traction devic devices for your vehicle that's the tire chains or cables and maybe practice putting those on before you head out uh to come up this weekend just so you know for sure how to put those on besides that you know we do recommend for systems like this you know having an emergency kit in your car with
some water maybe some food rations blankets things like that just in case something happens but other than that we'll have every lift and Trail open that we can have open this weekend conditions permitting so it should be great uh great day up here on the and we know that this isn't the first storm we've had a few already this year how has the resort been impacted by all of this yeah it's been a difficult season in terms of uh you know when the snow first didn't come in in January and then all o
f a sudden it all showed up in February the snow is February we've had on record in almost 25 years and now we're seeing a consistent pattern here in March as well so it's a bit of a later developing season but we've maintained through it all you know the slopes are in great conditions and any snow we get out of this season we'll just add to that all right Justin thank you very much for your time appreciate it
