ALL IN SOCIETY

hello hello hello happy holidays to everybody this  is another episode of Allin society and friends I am cp2 and today we have a special special guest  we have Bailey Jackson and her Instagram is Bailey Jackson Sports I know Bailey I've also seen your  content on I think you have a Tik Tok you have a Twitter you have you're across the board all over  the place threads right yes yes yes yes okay and Bailey the reason or reason why I invited her on  the show what really caught my attention is that
I saw her on I believe uh it was on threads and  she had the opportunity to go the NBA End season inaugural Championship which I was I told her pre  uh pregame that I was super jealous she had the opportunity to go to this game I definitely  won a chance to go to Las Vegas but she had the opportunity to go so I reached out to her I  wanted to pick her brain and her experience there and also she does an absolutely excellent job at  breaking down our favorite players not necessarily their stats a
nd everything that's going on on  the court or on the field but she's taking us behind the scenes and some of the things that go  on off the court and really changing the narrative and really Enga uh creating conversations that  are very engaging on social media uh you have thousands of views I see a lot of the videos  that you're making a lot of uh individuals are engaging back and forth I saw something on  threads where you uh I can't remember what the topic was but you said respond with an em
oji  and I just went through that and it was awesome it had me laughing out loud some of the uh uh the  gifts and some of the Emojis and things like that that some of the some of your follows were using  uh but I want you to take it from here tell us a little bit more about yourself and tell us about  Bailey Jackson Sports yes so one I appreciate the introduction and thank you for having me on um  bayy Jackson in sports is only about a year old so I graduated from Indiana University last year  u
m with a marketing degree and I had a little bit of Sports Experience uh or just like experience  working in the sports industry um while I was at IU um but not enough to the point where I was  like okay I can find a full-time job you know with my background um and a full-time job that I  I really wanted you know in more of a reporting hosting role right um so I ultimately took um the  corporate route and said you know well if I'm not going to do Sports full-time I'm at least going to  you know
figure out how to do it part-time and I had an existing Instagram account and an existing  Tik Tok account and I was like okay this is you know I'm gonna convert this to my sports platform  right came up with the name Bailey Jackson Sports super simple super easy just you know my first  last name in sports you know like just just make it as you know easy as possible for people to  understand like what I'm talking about um and just started posting videos and it wasn't super  consistent at first u
m you know it's like maybe one every couple days and then you know started  to see a little bit more traffic from it and I think around like this time last year maybe a  little bit earlier around like November October November 2022 I had a story really blow up  and I was like okay it's like I think I can make something of this and I really put time and  effort into being consistent and really crafting how I you know talked about certain topics and  also pinpointing you know what matter to me and
What mattered to my audience too um and from there  it's grown into what it is and I'm fortunate to have you know almost 20,000 followers on Instagram  a little over 30k on Tik Tok um you know growing platform on Facebook on threads uh you Twitter  as well so um you know just seeing where the the you know opportunities go from here working with  Brands like you said and was out in Vegas had the opportunity to you know travel a little bit do  some brand trips so um yeah Ian it's really just the
start like I said just you know a little over  a year into bayy Jackson Sports so I'm excited to see where you know things can head in the next  you know in 2024 you know years to come so do you remember what uh social media platform it was  on and do you remember what the first video or the topic was yeah so uh the I posted the same video  on Instagram and Tik Tok and I believe it was about like nil deals um there was a conversation  I I love um uninterrupted the shop with you know LeBron and M
averick and you know they bring in you  know the the various individuals to the show and there was an episode it was an older one maybe  like season one season two and mo bomba said something about um in his pre-draft process the  teams were saying that he had too many eclectic interests right and I thought that was interesting  especially last year you know as we kind of got deeper into nil was still you know kind of in  maybe like phase one phase two right and and you start seeing these athlet
es like I think the  one I talked about was um bejn Robinson and His mustard deal okay um I was like you can categorize  that as an Eclectic interest right and I think nil just in general allows a athletes to capitalize  on their you know their various interests so in my head I was like okay well you know how did  these two topics correlate is like will we see um you know this the conversation change at a  professional level because you know things are changing at a Collegiate level it my video
was not  worded that well it was worded a lot differently I was like I said very new like not really full you  know formulating my thoughts into um you know the video like I wanted to but it was basically along  those lines um and that was the the conversation so I think it like that that first video got  more views than I expected it was like maybe 8,000 which was like really good for where I was  at um I was like had maybe like 100 followers at that point probably even less so I was like oh my
gosh like he 8,000 followers for you know a page with a 100 you know or 8,000 views with a page  for 100 followers I was like okay yeah like I like let's see where this can go right so that was  I'm glad that it got that type of exposure because I think if it would have like just failed off a B  I probably wouldn't have like been as inclined to be like okay like let's see you know let's put  some more time into this but yeah that was the initial topic so so I everyone always says this  do you
do it catch you off guard what videos blow up and the videos where you feels like like you  vote all of this you write everything down you have everything perfect in your vision and it's  like well why is this one getting so much traction right like where are the views yeah um there are  some that I like know I'm like man this story is absolutely wild like this is gonna go crazy like  there's one that I did recently at um posted it two days ago was about uh chance Comanche the  NBA g-league um p
layer for the Stockton kings that ultimately um confessed to a murder case was  like I knew when I was recording I was like yeah this is going to go crazy like this is such a wild  story um but then there are some where I'm like oh my God like this is such a good take like I have  such a you know like a good take on you know this this story it's like I think people are really  going to resonate with it and then it's like no one no one comments no engagement like like views  are kind of on the lo
wer end I'm like all right so I was like was it a bad take or was it just like  was it something else was it the delivery was it the time I posted it was it like the visuals like  what wasn't so yeah there there's times where it's like okay like yeah like I can expect something to  go crazy and then there are times where it's like that should have gone like that should have done  way better like oh and then there are times was like man I didn't expect this to blow up like I'm  glad people are re
ally resonating with this too so it it kind of varies right so without spilling  your secrets how do you how are you because it's I haven't heard any of these stories I'm going  to your pages to to learn new information that haven't seen on so how are you pulling where  are you getting the information from yeah so I Source from a a variety of different places  um and platforms so I mean I try to talk about things that you wouldn't see on traditional you  know media um Network or Sports media net
works so like you trying to hit on stories that ESPN  may not cover or um you know you're not going to see it on a bleacher report or you know whatever  it may be right um with that being said sometimes I do you know get inspiration from Pages like  bleacher repor or complex or overtime or whoever it's like sometimes it's looking at Twitter um um  or X you know threads or you know threads itself and you know seeing what people are talking  about on there it's it's a lot of just kind of little so
cial listening here and there staying  up to dat you know with what's on TV as well um sometimes I'll have people send me stuff that's  been like a um a helpful you know tool recently is you know people will DM me it's like hey did  you see this or like they'll text me and be like hey I saw this story like you should talk about  it um so it's a combination of a lot of different lot of different resources that's awesome and so  you you juggle a full-time job and you do this as well so is it you w
ork your full-time job  and then you come home and you're just diving right deep into sports pretty much so I do have  the flexibility to work work from home part of the week and then I go into our headquarters um  two days out of the week so when I'm home I will I me fully committed to my job being know nin to5  I'll have ESPN on the background so I can kind of hear some of the conversations that are going on  and get the inspiration throughout the day so by the time it's like five o'clock I lo
g off and you  know switch over to sports mode and it's like I have an idea of what I want to talk about um but  yeah it's a it's a really fine balance between you making sure that um you know my full-time  job all the responsibilities and you know um deliverables that are are needed from me on that  end are knocked out you know during working hours and then you know I come home and just you know  kind of grind it out on the sports side of things okay all right so I want to just in case anyone
didn't hasn't seen your page yet one thing I did want to point out was the Zach Wilson story so can  you elaborate a little bit on that yeah so Zach Wilson it was Sunday's I think they played Sunday  yeah Sunday's game against um now I'm spacing on who they played though um I'm trying say yeah  Sunday's game who did I don't even remember who hit him Sunday's game we'll just leave it at  Sunday's game um and he took a few nasty hits um they ultimately pulled him out the game um and he  was on the
sideline reportedly telling coaches and you know team medical staff hey I'm fine even  though he was displaying concussion symptoms um that wasn't revealed till after the game when  his mom went on Instagram and gave everybody an update on his condition saying hey like Zach's  doing better um thank you for your concern um you know he really wanted to you know fight and  stay in for you know his guys um he even you know exactly what I said a second ago like he even was  displaying these concussi
on symptoms but didn't reveal it to his coaches and he he really just  wanted to go in and play but you know at the end of the day he realized you know it may be more  detrimental to the team so you know I'm going to you know kind of come out the game right um so  you know eventually made the right decision but you know also didn't make the right decision  you know had some had some important details from his team um so anyways his mom coming on  social media and sharing that information was I t
hink more of a shock than anything is like okay  Mom you're kind of snitching right now right you know was like you're you're getting me in trouble  and I don't know if I don't think much has really come from her video you know like I don't think  the NFL has launched an investigation but it was initially thought it's like okay well you know  she's revealing some details that are you know pretty important it's like could this result and  Zach Wilson being fed could this result in the Jets being
fined how much did the you know Jets  organization know about Zach display concussion symptoms did they do anything about it did they  you know just go you know along with it you know what was the situation right so that was pretty  much story line surrounding that like I said I haven't seen any update updates to confirm  that the NFL is investigating or not I don't think there there's any issue between Zach's mom  and the team or Zach and his mom but um but yeah that's the story right that was
I thought it was  interesting story I showed my father your uh your clip and his take was more so that that he thinks  the team is liable regardless of what Zach did the team they have doctors there they're that is their  job to make sure he does not go back on the field so right you I think you hit on this a little bit  so were they were they aware of this and they just kind of look past it because he said he was fine  or in the grand scheme of things I don't even think they're even in playoff
contention so Aaron  Rogers isn't coming well he's you hear reports he might potentially come back so maybe he's scared  that know if I hang up the you know if I if I sit out I'm not going to play again if Aaron comes  back in so I guess there's a lot ofes and Dynamics uh that he's dealing with but most importantly  that if you're concuss you should not be back on the field no absolutely not and I think that's  the the important part of the conversation too is you know players Health especially
when it comes  to head injuries is is and should be prioritized I think the league is doing a better job at that you  know nowadays so it's like in you know in those events it's like you want to make sure that you're  not only doing what's best for the team but it's doing you know what's best for you at the end of  the day you see too many players nowadays that are you know retired or you know entering into that  retirement phase that are you know coming out with you CTE or just you know other t
ype of you know  head injuries head trauma um it say you know it's nothing to play about your brain is a a precious  you know organ and you don't want to mess that up right it's a very dangerous sport they get paid  very well but it is a a dangerous sport I know they've been talking about those new helmets  where they have the different design and they might potentially use those they've been using  them in practice and I think I saw a report that they are significantly uh reducing you know head
injuries or concussions uh during training camps and things like that so something to look forward  to I guess as far as players right right all right well we are we were talking about football but  I want to dive into Bailey a little bit more so let's go back to high school and you mentioned  golf so can you tell us about your golf experience yeah yeah so I played just about everything that  you could ever think of growing up as a kid but ultimately landed on golf um and started taking  it se
riously when I was about like 12 13 years old um took lessons was playing competitively in  the Indianapolis area just in kind of like Junior leagues right um by the time I entered high school  I had gotten to the point where I was good enough to you know be on our varsity team play the number  one spot um and I I held that number one spot and played on Varsity for all four years in high High  School um loved the sport um you know was doing well and had the opportunity to play collegiately  ulti
mately decided that you know wanted to really focus on the academic side of uh you know college  and you let that be my main focus but um you know still still play to this day golf has been a huge  part of my life for about you know 10 years now um and I you know love talking about it too it's  also you know part of my content that I hope to um incorporate more in you know the future going  into 2024 is you know really hitting on golf hitting on um you know the benefits of the sport  um you know
the diversity in the sport which I feel like we don't see too much of um and also  you know at the end of the day also making you know the people that talk about the sport more  diverse too that's a mission of mine is you know there there are people that look like you know us  out there that are playing and that are good and um you know that can talk about it that know you  know know what they're what they're doing um when it comes to talking about the sports so yeah golf  is golf is a huge hug
e part of my life I love it love talking about it love playing it so um yeah  I'm glad I I had the opportunity to start from a young age what's your take on the live golf in  the PGA I'm not sure if they're merging or what's going on right now what's your take on that yeah  so it was announced um like over the summer that they would be merging I know that the details of  it are still can being figured out right now but um I think that I I let me take a step back I had  the opportunity to go to a
live golf tournament U back in September there was one in Chicago um so  I wanted to see you know what it was about right because you know initially I was like you know I  love the tradition of the PGA you know I love the players that are in the league and um you know  I think that that that shouldn't be disruptive but then I saw was like but what you know Liv  was doing and you know had the opportunity to really experience that and also see from you  know a golfers perspective kind of talking
to them a little bit more about what they liked  about the the league and what they didn't and um it's def it's the future of golf we'll just  put it that way and I think for a sport that has such a older audience this is a way for younger  people to get involved with it being kind of more of a fun kind of partyish culture right but at  the same time you're still carrying out out the tradition of golf you're still carrying out the  you know this respectfulness of the sport too um so it's a healt
hy combination of both and it I  think it definitely is intriguing new you know fans to come in and enjoy um and the sport that  people have loved for you know hundreds of years now right right is that uh you hit on it it's  it's almost like a culture change because I you think of you know golf you think it's very ritzy  and to have a lot of young people and having more you know that's a very big difference so uh it'll  be interesting to see how uh the game evolves but at the end of the day they
end of the day they  want more viewers and I think this is the the right approach to go that way definitely yeah I  I think it's G to take some time for PGA guys to kind of adapt to the the new environment and you  know fully get on board and buy into it I I don't see it being an easy merger you know by any means  but um you in the next maybe 10 to 20 years I I definitely see it being a thriving uh you know  combination of live PGA you know whatever the new name is or if you know there is a new
name  so yeah I'm excited to see it do you still have an opportunity to go out and hit the course yeah  every once in a while I I mean I live in Chicago so it's cold here about I don't know a quarter if  not more of the year so um you know it's kind of hard to play in certain months but uh anytime it's  warm out and I have some free time I I try to get out on the course okay was your your short game  or your long game your uh the best part of your game um you know I can hold my own around the
green but I definitely was better you know off the tea in the Fairway so short game I feel like  is never anybody's strength I think you can ask ask any golfer if they're saying short games their  strength they're probably lion te okay all right I don't know short games short game that's where  the majority of your point or your Strokes come in right it's I think 60% of your scores putts or  short game I don't know the statistic exactly but um you most most people struggle around the green  so l
ike I said if anyone's telling you oh I'm amaz I'm amazing chipper I'm amazing putter I was like  are you really like that are that's the only thing they concentrate on and they can't hit the ball  50 yards off the T right here yeah maybe maybe who who knows but yeah I definitely definitely  better um better off a team better better in the fair way so okay and so I guess pivot a little  bit you're clearly passionate about sports um so what are your what are your ultimate goals with  with biley s
ports and then you mention can you hit on you work with whistle Sports as well can you  talk about that as well yeah so ultimate goals for my platform I think it right now it's it's  growth and monetization um I'm at the point now where it's like okay I'm hitting metrics that  I've hitting metrics and goals that I set for myself you know at the um beginning of 2023 now  I'm you know having the opportunity to get paid for my content via Partnerships like whistle or  NFL and zone or FanDuel um or
you know via brand trips you know stuff like that or you know just  various camp pains here and there um so you know continuing to like set Higher Goals for myself  you know hit higher metrics um and then you know at the end of the day the goal for me is as much  as I love my full-time job um and working you know in social media on a corporate Side sports is my  passion and I know one day I'll be able to cross over and you know take this um the my my sports  you know work seriously in a fulltime
um so you know that's that's the ultimate goal for me is  like in what way or you know form or fashion does that look I don't know it could be you know still  on social media it could be in a more traditional role like you see you know Malik Andrews or Maria  Taylor or Taylor Rooks doing um and I know I think that's definitely in the future for me um what  that looks like I don't know you know with the right opportunity comes it comes and you know I'll  be uh exploring my options you know when
when it makes the most sense for me but um yeah that's  that's kind of the the future right now that's you know what I have in store so it's just a matter  of uh of time know honestly right so as far as the the Partnerships with FanDuel did they reach out  to you or did you reach out to them yeah so they reached out to me which was a blessing because  I had them on the list of brands that I really wanted to work with um and it was a conversation  it started over email they found my content um an
d they thought that they I'd be a good fit  for um you know what they're doing with their other creators and you know what they're doing on  their platforms um so yeah it was a a conversation of about a month of exchanging emails back and  forth and you got the contract signed and um I've entered a year deal with them to do sports betting  content but also um you know do the story lines that you see on my platform for their platform  as well so and for the sports betting are do you dabble yourse
lf every once in a while or are you  just going to be doing the reporting um so I'm uh by no means am I great Sports better um I and I I  think I messed up like when I initially started I entered the like sports betting world around March  Madness which everybody says is like the absolute worst time to like bet on sports um I just because  of like all the like there's no certainty with March Madness games obviously but like on top  of that I think I don't I don't know there just it's not like a
I don't know like the like real  statistical reasoning behind it but like it just doesn't I guess make sense too but anyways that's  what I was told um so yeah I was like oh let me put like a parlay on like multiple games you know  like like sweet 16 like Elite 8 of course like lost money um all right not going to do this again  and then that was pre FanDuel though and it's like once FanDuel came around I was like okay like if  I'm working with FanDuel I should use FanDuel and I should like unde
rstand how sports betting works  so I've like got into it more and more have I hit big absolutely not do I really know what I'm  doing probably not but I have a better idea of like how everything works but I'm I'm not like  a a Sports better but um I can you know explain a few things here and there you know what I mean so  yeah that's always good you don't have to partake in betting Sports in order to to work alongside  them in that partnership almost right encourage you not to bet Sports to be
quite honest yeah yeah  I mean I I as long as you know what you're doing and you're confident in decisions you're making  then I say go for it but if you're just you know if you're a newbie and you're throwing crazy  money out there then I'd probably advise you to do your research before you you know get on  a platform like FanDuel and and start you know betting but right right now we all have you know  your fantasy football leagues and things like that where you draft with your friends and fami
ly and  things like and you know no scenarios but other than that this is me speaking from experience  you it is so difficult to beat these guys on a consistent basis but I do think that you mentioned  the March Madness I think that's kind of the The Bookies that's when they set the lines they don't  have a lot of information a lot of these college players because they haven't been playing for  that long they haven't been watching them that long opposed if you bet on an NFL NBA game they  have s
o much data on these players so it's so difficult to beat them in those lines um but I  don't want to get into that conversation this is not that conversation lead anybody down that  that dark alley of sports betting uh but let's uh go back to what is your favorite sport to watch  and your favorite sport to cover favorite sport to watch is definitely basketball and favorite  sport to cover is football okay and why and why um I think with the amount of people in on a  football team or you know in
the league or even at a Collegiate level you have so many opportunities  to cover unique and diverse storylines whereas um you know basketball is just smaller teams smaller  league right so it's just the opportunity to which I mean there are stories there don't get me wrong  like there are definitely stories out there that you know are uncovered Untold um but you have  there's just greater opportunity to you know really know find a story within um within football  um to why like why I like watc
hing basketball um one I just think it's it's like the entertaining  in person yes um that's like the biggest thing for me is like the entertainment factor in person  and that experience of going into Arena and uh you know watching the game that's always been a  little bit more exciting to me than like going and you know watching any other sporting person  um I think the atmosphere of you know a basketball game day is you know unlike you know any other  you could say the same for football like I
don't think there's a right or wrong answer to this but  just personally you know what I like the best um and even watching it on TV like I feel like I'm  more locked in watching a basketball game I am watching a football game on TV you know at home so  um that's you know that's my reason like I said I don't think there's any right or wrong answer  don't get me wrong I do love watching football and going to football games too I just prefer  basketball a little bit more when it comes to you know
that yeah as far as reporting wise I  think the football stories resonate more with me because they always have their helmet on and  so when you're reporting and telling about their story I'm getting to know them a little bit more  I just feel like the basketball players are number one there's 82 games plus the playoffs and so we  see them so often and we get to kind of know who they are as far as football we're really limited  amount of time we get to know who they are off the field during the
field why they make the decisions  or you know do the things they do on the field so just for me personally I love the your football  content because I I get to know the players a little bit more yeah that's true I mean when you  uh you know bring up the length of the season and their schedule and you know how frequently you  see them and it's like there's names that you probably never hear throughout a season but  they're you know making a huge impact off the field or you know they're doing so
me crazy stuff  you know outside of their team or you outside of the sport or whatever and it's like oh man like  I didn't even know so and so you know existed and it's like because you only see them for a certain  portion of the year it's like or you know maybe they don't get a whole lot of playing time or  you know they're like you know fourth string whatever and so um yeah there's there's a lot of  opportunity to You Know cover the NFL and I think just the uniqueness of the stories is just gr
eater  because of the reasons that you know we mentioned so yeah and any sport your favorite team oh um  favorite team um well being from Indianapolis have to say Pacers for you know NBA um and the  Colts for the NFL uh for college football though it's Ohio State I grew up a huge Ohio State  fan I'm not from Ohio but my dad and his side of the family are so um I was instilled the uh the  Buckeye Pride from a young age so uh I I also have to give some credit to my hooers I went to Indiana  Univer
sity so so you know go go hooers on the you know the basketball side of things football not  so much I will never be rooting for IU when it comes to football but uh but yeah IU basketball I  love following them so yeah well don't tell your father I'm from Michigan as you can see I got the  Detroit Lions hat on yeah we don't talk about the team up north well you don't care about these guys  you don't that's that's yeah I don't have any beef with the Lions yeah it's it's just even Michigan  state
they're cool like I don't have any problem with any other Michigan like school or team the  team up north we don't talk about him that's a no no all right well I'll make you talk about him a  little bit so tell me about the the last game what was your take from the last game with Ohio State  in Michigan um I mean if I'm GNA be completely honest Michigan is a better team this year um and  I didn't expect Ohio State to win um I think that Ohio State needed to do a better job at passing  the ball w
hich is just hasn't been their strength like at all this season I don't think Kyle cord  really fit well into Ohio State scheme and as you saw he you know they would run the ball majority  of the time um you when there were those moments where he would P you know there would be pass  plays Marvin Harrison Jr did his you know thing and um I think he was great for OSU I think he'll  be great in the league you know next year if I think he declar it if he hasn't already declared  I'm sure he you kno
w was likely to um but yeah I I mean like I said that the expectations for that  specific game were kind of low just given where OSI was at this season um and just you know the  various pieces that they were working with um on the team um and yeah and Michigan Michigan was  just a stronger program unfortunately um this season but you know maybe next year we'll get  them so you know there there's always hope but do you think the coach is going to be there next  season yes I I don't I don't think
Ohio state has any intentions of firing Ryan day before the start  of the 2024 2025 season okay um will his job be up in the air like you will will next season depend  on if we see him you know in the future absolutely I think like this is definitely going to be a  test of if they keep him or not yeah um but I don't I don't expect him to get fired you know  before the start of by any means okay yeah all right so let's move on to a little bit of a it's  a deep deep topic uh kind of uncomfortable
topic can be at sometimes uh but can you talk about  your experience not only as a woman in sports but a black woman in sports and some of the things  you might have to deal with as far as people in your DMs or the comments that might uh hit your  hit your feed or hit your thread yeah um I mean people will de with me some crazy stuff sometimes  it could be just like I mean it couldn't some some of the stuff I get in my DMs isn't even about  my work necessarily it's like sometimes it will be just
about like who I am or like what people  think of me or whatever which I don't even really pay attention to stuff half the time it was like  things are going to my requests and I'm not seeing them so it's like if you're dming me something  crazy just know I'm like not even really probably gonna see it in the first place um but I do pay  attention to the comment section sometimes and I think that um more than anything it's not so much  about being a black woman in sports I haven't you know fortu
nately experience anything you know  race related um but more you know less more or less me being a woman in sports you know it's the  the sexist side of things that um I've encountered I've gotten comments on my post saying you know  this is why men should be talking about sports women have no business you know speaking on the  subject people have gone as far to say as like just go back and you know go back to the kitchen  like get in the kitchen and like just do your job and you know shut up b
asically yeah um and I mean  it's kind of like to be expected honestly I this is nothing new women that before me that are you  know in hosting roles or sine reporting roles or you know um you know doing sports content as well  or getting some of the same comments I don't think it's a matter of you know what you look like it's  more or less like just being being a woman in the industry um and it sucks but at the same time  it's like there there was a point where I had to determin if I was going
to let those comments  affect me or if I was going to brush it off and move on and I grew confident in myself and my work  and I know after a while is like seeing stuff like that doesn't affect me as much I'm not going  to say I'm not like phased by it like yeah some things that people say are like just vile and  evil and nasty and like it gets to me at times but um the frequency at which it does like it is  significantly less now that you know I'm where I'm at um and like I said as confident as
I am in  my work so um you know like I said unfortunately it's just something that's a part of being in  the industry and um you know I think for you know women to come that you know want to enter  the the industry as well and report on Sports it's just something that is going to be a part  of the job unfortunately and it's just you know a matter of how you kind of battle through that  adversity right right unfortunately it's a cruel world we live in but I guess the bright side of  things at le
ast they're saying something because if they just ignore you that's even more like well  I'm putting out great content no one cares one way or the other and be quite honest with those  negative comments negativity usually spreads better than positivity so it might be helping you  in the long run you just kind of have to you know internalize it unfortunately and just deal with it  right well and that's what I've said before too is like I I very rarely do I respond to comments but  you there have
been times where I'm like you know I don't know there's one specific person and this  is such a weird situation to me because I follow my page but it's like I have them restricted so  like their their comments can't be seen by anyone else besides me and I like I have to review it in  order for it to be posted and every single time I do any type of like take that they don't like  they'll comment like just something about like you talk about blah blah blah blah blah blah and  they'll like try to D
M me and all of a I'm like you follow me just to be so negative right but  it's like little do you know that your engagement on my page and you following me is helping me yes  it's like it's it's like you hate me so much but yet you're helping me it's like do you understand  like how that's just like a like just it doesn't make sense you know it's like make it make sense  yeah it's like if you really wanted to hurt Me by any means like hurt my content or my performance  and like stop following m
e and stop commenting yes yes it's kind of like it's probably like  these guys in the poker room they don't know how to talk to women and maybe that's the way for  you he doesn't think that you will ever give him the time of day so this is the only way well if  I do this that she'll get my attention or she'll respond back to me or something like that I don't  know maybe I don't know that's a twisted way of thinking like if that's their mindset that's a  twisted way of going about it but I don't
know like at the end of the day too it's like I look  at those comments and in my head immediately go to like these people have nothing better to do  than be negative behind his screen to a person that they don't even know like that's just their  problem that they have to deal with too like it's that that's not my business you know what I mean  so um yeah just there's always going to be those internet trolls and those internet haters and  like it's just it is what it is situation you know it's l
ike there's not much you can do about  it aside from control you can control and be you know positive and Contin pushing through it right  that's great you are you said you're only 23 but you sometime I meet uh I'm 35 so sometimes I'll  meet people that are younger than myself and it's like that's some things that you say it's like  you've been here before or number one I asked you before you must you you have a really strong  support group and you have a family that's really raised a great youn
g woman and so I think that  that's awesome this is It's refreshing to see because I do run to a lot of younger folks and  it's just like oh boy yeah yeah I appreciate that and I definitely give credit to my parents  they did you know a great job of raising me and um you know they're they're great people my  mom and you know my daad um I feel like the reason who I am you know who I am today is and  um you know I definitely credit them for how I go about caring myself and you know just living  my
life and um yeah so Props to them on that one yeah that's great do you have any are you only  child I am okay yeah I am an only child do I come off as an only child no no no no I was  I was curious because you didn't me mention a brother or sister so I was like well let me  ask her because I was thinking well maybe you have an older sister who's maybe been through all  this or older brother's been through all this and so you kind of seen it shown you how to deal  with it but you're just a stron
g strong woman yeah it's just me yep it's it's always been  me so uh yeah I like to ask because I feel like people sometimes guess I have siblings some  people automatically assume I'm an only child so I was curious I'm only child myself and I'm just  very selfish person so hopefully you don't have that yeah hey sometimes it comes out and that's  okay all right well let's bring it to something a little bit more lighthearted well not it's  lighthearted for you not for me because I'm still jealous
thinking about this that you had the  opportunity to go the NBA n Season championship game so tell us about that yeah so this was such  a cool opportunity um I mean it was a first for a lot of reasons it was the first NBA and season  tournament um it was my first time in Vegas um it was my first brand trip and it was my first time  working with meta um so it was a like a crazy basically like two weeks like a week of planning  and then like the week of the trip right and um they' re there was a
rep that found my content  organically he reached out to me and he was like Hey like let's figure out some ways to get you to  some events and I was like okay cool like let's set up some time to chat um and he had mentioned  that you know they're really trying to promote threads um and later that day it was either like  that day or like the day after he said you know hey I see you work with whistle uh because it's  in my bio on my Instagram he's like I see you work with whistle um you know conve
niently like meta  and whistle are partnering for you know the the tournament uh again push threads um would you  want to come out to Vegas would you be able to come out to Vegas next week I'm like okay you know  like let me make sure everything you know in the full-time job like everything is covered on that  end you know it's like do I need to take time off like is everything I need to do like done for the  week I was like once all those boxes were checked and I was like got the green light I
was like all  right it looks like we're going to Vegas um and it was such a dope experience there was about like  20 or more creators that they brought out there they had us in two separate Suites so we were  um able to like get to know each other like all the people and there's like I said two separate  sweets all the people in my Suite like I got to know like really really closely um but still got  to interact with some of the other creators in um their other suite and they had us in there  fo
r um the semi-final so we got to watch the Pacers bucks and then the Pelicans Lakers on  Thursday and then we also got to watch Lakers and Pacers on Saturday um and then there was some  really cool events on Friday as well so there was a lunch with um boardroom and threads that took  place on Friday so it was like some really cool networking opportunities um had the chance to  make meet AEL Wilson Miles Turner was there um some of the other Aces were there um Shams from  the athletic he he was t
here Rich Paul showed up um had a chance to talk with um Adam um misseri  who's the head of Instagram so it's like really cool networking opportunities and like really  cool like dope people in the room um talking with agents other creators it's like just people  like it's like a true industry event um and it's like experience like that is so invaluable and  especially being young and new to the sports industry is like having those moments to just  like connect with people I was like that that w
as honestly my favorite part of the trip like  yeah like the basketball part was cool but it was like the networking part was my favorite  part yeah awesome hitting on networking and I don't want take away from this uh have you  heard or have you been to invest Fest I have not no okay uh so you know anything about it no  not this is the first time hearing of it okay so the past two years I think they done it three  years total but I went the past two years it's in Atlanta the last week of August
I believe it  was I'm not sure you've heard of Troy and Rashad from earn your leisure it's so they're it's all  about financial literacy uh but Prett much it's specifically trying to get black and brown people  into you know investing themselves in uh stocks bonds crypto uh real estate just really helping  our community in financial literacy and because we don't talk about money or at least in my  family it is not something we grew up talking about a consistent basis as I've gotten older we  ha
ving these conversations which is which is great but just in our community and and not just our  community we don't talk about things like this but we need to talk about about them especially  like wills and trust and things like that that other communities are doing in order to pass their  wealth On to the Next Generation well we're not doing these things and so they do a great job of  that U but this year specifically they had like Cam Newton was there um McCollum was there a lot  of the ball
football players basketball players were there as panels and it's a great place to  network there was 20,000 people that looked like you and I for for a whole weekend so it it's it's  amazing uh but as it gets bigger I I prefer the smaller intimate environments because you can  really Network you know have more impactful conversations opposed to being some place where  there's 20,000 people there it's very hard um because every for that person uh but something  think about next year if they if t
hey do do it next year for sure yeah know that sounds like I  a great opportunity and I know if you're familiar with black sports business Symposium that's  another good one I went to that back in April it's in Atlanta um and this will be I think their  third year the I don't think they've released a date for it for 2024 but um very similar setup  from what it sounds like you know you're telling me where it's like you know they have people on  panels they like Maria Taylor Rich Paul spoke at it
Don Staley Brandon Marshall came um and they  just had various like panels throughout the day you can kind of pick and choose what you wanted to  go to which was also cool is like you're tailoring your you know your experience to you know what's  going on and it was hosted at the Falcons arena so okay um huge um huge setup it was free too  you just had to you know apply yeah just apply to um you know be invited basically um and you  mean you have to cover airfare hotel all of that but there's no
cost to attend but um yeah another  great one so I'll look I'll look into that one you you look into black sports business both sound  yeah like really awesome events okay yeah yep absolutely thank you I appreciate it yeah for sure  all right so to close out we're gonna get into my world a little bit yeah what is your experience  in poker uh zero okay all right so not on the uh I'm not trying to get you to to play poker or  anything like that but uh are you familiar with princess love I saw I k
now what you're talking  about yes yes yeah I saw what you're talking what you mentioned yeah yeah so I just want to kind of  put your on your radar because I I truly believe that there's going to be another poker boom and  I think the next poker boom that will take place it will be women uh they'll hit the felt and then  they start taking money from men uh right now the reason why women don't feel comfortable is because  men are just nasty and disgusting people and they cannot their psyche cann
ot take what coming  in and taking their money um it's very Macho um environment but I think as time goes on the  organizers and the casinos are getting better at protecting women Um poker Community is it's pretty  gross um and I'm not trying this is terrible stories to tell to try to get you to get into the  poker community and cover the poker Community but like you hear stories in California dealers used  to get spit on the dealers were peed on yes so that's say poker players are the nastiest
people  in the world but there's also some great people in the poker Community as well because when you  think about it poker is a worldwide game and it's very easy to learn the game it just takes a  lifetime to master the game and like I said I'm not trying to get anybody to necessarily play  poker but just learning the game and there's a casino all over the place you will be so surprised  the conversations and the networking opportunities you can have at a poker table and also most  importantl
y was for the content so uh two uh organizers it's World Poker Tour where princess  love she played there at the win and then the World Series of Poker in the summer they'll have  a in uh at Caesar's property I don't know if you had a chance to go to Caesar's Horseshoe Casino  no I didn't okay um but they have it it's on the Strip used to be at the Reel Off the Strip now  it's on the Strip so now it's a little bit more mainstream uh more people are just kind of walk  off the street well what is
this going on here I don't know anything about poker but I would love  to try just because the it's an awesome experience um so just something it's we kind of talked poker  is a sport they don't want to label it as a sport but it's definitely a sport but just something to  consider if you want to do some content that's not necessarily what most uh Sports reporters would  cover I think you'll definitely poker Community is Niche and small but if you uh if you can find some  some stories and maybe
interview a person or two think you'll be surprised with the uh the response  that you get from the poker Community yeah no I mean I'm definitely interested in learning more  talk about princess love it's like you're seeing stories pop up and you know and your you know  time line and on mainstream platforms right I know like I think I don't remember who I saw cover  it but I'm pretty sure it's you know it's heading on pretty you know major pages right so um you  know people are definitely intere
sted and know people are wanting to talk about it too so I'm  one of those that are my interest so you know I'll definitely be looking up for you know more topics  um you know related to the poker world and just you know what that looks like how it feels you  know and what the you know the potential could be too it's like it's everything everything will see  I'm not gonna say everything it will likely see you know some more growth and some more attention  in the future so um you know the coverag
e will come with it for sure right and I'm sure you  heard that pickle ball is a huge thing right now too oh yeah ah yeah that it's funny because  when I got to Vegas I was like in my Uber on the way to the hotel and my Uber driver is like yeah  I'm in a pickle ball league he's like it's huge out here in Vegas I'm like I didn't know that like  that's cool and I know pickle ball is growing for sure it's like everybody's investing in it you  have so many athletes that are like getting into pickle
ball leagues um you know right now and  I I know in Chicago like you know when it gets warmer people are you know out playing I know it's  been to the point where like on the news they're complaining about the pickle ball noise and the  courts and like it's yeah it seems crazy like the the way that it's just skyrocketed and like  kind of become a viral sensation so I'm excited to see where that go too absolutely absolutely  uh but yeah I I truly appreciate this I you're definitely a very very ve
ry busy person so I  appreciate you taking the time to to sit with me and do this interview hopefully we'll be able  to do it again in the future I would love to have you on the the live show on Tuesdays if you can  ever uh find time to that just jump in rather jump in in the chat just come in say hi for a  second and then and then dip out I would love to have you on the show so again I appreciate you  taking time yeah well thank you for having me I appreciate it as well absolutely I will defini
tely  be pumping your content telling everybody to check it out I've told my my parents I'll be telling  my uh my family and um once we go you know spend each other spend time with everybody in the  for the holidays we'll definitely be looking at your content we'll be fans we'll be watching  be in the comments so uh I appreciate it we'll be here to support you keep doing what you're  doing I enjoy it thank you I really appreciate that absolutely enjoy the rest of your day and I  truly appreciate
