St. Mary's helps launch documentary on Dr. Martin Luther King's activism

The film highlight's the faith community's role in helping to calm tensions after the civil rights hero's death in 1968.

tomorrow will mark 54 years since dr martin luther king jr was killed but in the bluff city we live his legacy all day every day and that's why filmmakers and activists are spending some extra time around the bluff city ahead of mlk memorial day this afternoon st mary's episcopal cathedral helped launch a documentary about memphis both now and at the height of dr king's activism we think that young people especially need to know not only how things were but who stood up and and gave their lives
for justice like dr king and many others and we we also want to rekindle the sense that the interfaith nature of the different kinds of faith communities and their leaders coming together when times are in crisis as they were in 68. the film highlights the faith community's role in quieting tensions after king's death and allows viewers to relive the massive mlk 50th celebration held in 2018.
