It’s not as simple as it seems when looking at the latest 2.1 banners and this is the best time to understand the whole situation. So, it’s no secret that the most popular opinion right now is that the 2.1 banners are kind of easy to decide on. Acheron is expected to be this unique unit that will introduce a new type of team Archetype, while Aventurine might just powercreep older Preservation units due to how his shielding works. And while there is some truth to this, there’s actually quite a fe
w things people might have missed and this could change your viewpoint on the whole situation. So, first of all, let’s talk about the new 5-star Lightning Nihility unit Acheron – why is everyone so hyped about her? Well, aside from the fact that she has a really cool alter ego, Star Rail team really went overboard with her gameplay mechanics because one of the most unique things about her is the Ultimate. You see, her Ultimate does not use energy and after playing Genshin and Star Rail for so lo
ng – this made me question my sanity if this is actually happening. Blasphemy, I tell you. If that’s not enough – her technique literally allows her to execute weaker enemies, which completely skips the fight and if you’re in a place like Simulated Universe, you still receive the upgrade rewards. Essentially, this technique is like that Skip Ticket currency in other gacha games, where you can just bypass the fights and reap the rewards. But anyway, how do you activate her Ultimate? Basically, sh
e will need to obtain these special stacks called Slashed Dream. Once you have 9 of these stacks, you can now activate her Ultimate and do a total of 4 hits – the first 3 hits allow you to select any target in a sequence, so she could hit the same enemy 3 times or instead hit different enemies. However, the 4th final hit will deal AoE damage. Now, the big question is – how do you obtain the stacks? Well, her skill can provide 1 Slashed Dream and it looks like it deals either Blast or AoE damage,
probably Blast because of how conveniently the enemies are placed in this livestream footage, however – just 1 stack after each skill activation would be pure insanity. Well, how about obtaining 1 Stack after anybody applies a debuff to enemy? That’s right, if someone in your team can apply a debuff – Acheron gains 1 stack of Slashed Dream. The caveat, however, is that we can see from the footage Pela using her Ultimate which applies DEF Shred on all enemies but Acheron ends up getting only 1 s
tack, so this means – it will be important to utilize team members who can apply debuffs as often as possible, instead of applying them with AoE. But, here’s the best part – enemies who apply debuffs to themselves, can also provide Slashed Dream Stacks. Like we can see here this Bubble Hound after he dying spreads that Bleed debuff, which easily provides Acheron with stacks and even if there’s a chain reaction of them dying, each one gives a stack. On top of that – even when you cause Weakness B
reak on enemies, the debuffs they receive will also count for Acheron’s Ultimate. In a nutshell – any kind of debuff that’s applied to enemy, whether done by friendly or hostile units, will count towards Acheron’s Ultimate charge. And that’s pretty cool in my opinion but at the same time – this also raises a couple of questions and concerns. But before we delve into this, a quick word from today’s sponsor. of Tanks NOW. Ok, so back to the big question – how easy will it be to trigger Acheron’s Ultimate? Well, it will mostly has to do with other Nihility units or at least units who can consistently apply debuffs. You see, Acheron’s teams are going to be pretty similar to DoT comps like the ones with Kafka – you want to build as many debuffs as possible on the enemy and some units like Pela can be great for Acheron – especially if she’s using Pearls of Sweat light cone which can help Pela with incre
asing the frequency of her debuffs. Luka could also use this Light Cone whenever he is not using his skill to apply Bleed or you could also resort to one of the DoT units like Kafka or Sampo but in reality – they are probably better utilized in a DoT comp, although I will be interested to test them out. However, one unit that’s looking to be very promising is Guinaifen since she can apply Burn with her basic attacks and her Firekiss special debuff will also count towards Acheron’s stacks. And wh
en looking at 5-stars, I think it’s safe to say that Silver Wolf is going to be pretty insane with Acheron since she applies so many debuffs so effortlessly it’s not even funny, not to mention she will also be able to utilize Lightning Weakness on enemies. Basically, there’s quite a few Nihility options, including some units like Welt – but what about other paths? Well, you could go for a janky combo of utilizing Trend of the Universal Market with someone like Fire Trailblazer or any other good
threat generating preservation unit since the more this unit gets attacked, the more often Burns would be applied to enemies and I hope this turns out to work for charging up Acheron’s Ultimate. It’s about time Fire Trailblazer made a comeback thanks to their niche Taunt mechanic. And if you’re thinking about Harmony, cause we gotta have those damage increasing buffs – well Sparkle is looking pretty nice, since not only can she help with skill point generation, her skill will also work really we
ll on Acheron since her Ultimate could become available any time before her turn begins, so Sparkle’s damage buff remains until the turn starts, so Acheron could still use her Ultimate with all the damage buff benefits. And of course, Ruan Mei’s ultimate that allows your team to debuff, should also count towards increasing Acheron’s Ultimate stacks, among the other buffs she offers. So, in a nutshell – Acheron will heavily favor Nihility units but there are some ways to get those debuffs going w
ith other character paths, however, this is shaping up to be the new archetype in the meta. But, let’s talk about critical values. Thing is – besides Incessant Rain, it’s kinda hard to build a decent critical ratio for a Nihility unit and while Acheron will be able to utilize Good Night and Sleep Well cone quite efficiently, she will want to look out for future options that provide critical rate or damage. But of course, all of this is just pre-release considerations and her true potential will
be revealed when the update arrives and as of now – if you have invested into several Nihility units that are just sitting there gathering dust, Acheron could be a great pull to build a team around her with these units. Oh, and one last thing I’ve learned as I am editing this video – Acheron’s Ultimate will also ignore enemy Weakness Types, drain their toughness and most important of all – reduce their Type Resistance. So yeah, pretty bonkers ability you want to activate as often as possible. If
you thought gambling for characters and digging for Jade Tiles with Qingque wasn’t enough… Aventurine, the new 5-star Imaginary Preservation unit would like to have a word with you. First of all – his Technique is a literal slot machine, depending on the outcome, the team’s DEF will be boosted by varying amounts. But, that’s kinda innocent compared to the rest of his kit. You see, when Aventurine uses his skill, he will apply a stackable shield for his whole team and on top of that, everyone’s
Effect RES will increase, so hopefully this will help with avoiding some of those annoying enemy debuffs. But here’s the biggest catch – whenever anyone is attacked while they are protected by Aventurine’s shield, this guy will gain 1 stack of Blind Bet – obtain 7 of them and he will unleash a follow-up attack, which also applies a shield for the whole team. We can also see if an enemy AoE attack would overcap the 7-stack limit, the 2 remaining stacks will carryover after Aventurine triggers his
Follow-Up attack, which is really nice. Now, here’s why he is a degenerate gambler – when using the Ultimate, he will attack a single enemy and then Aventurine will gain a random amount of Blind Bets – from the livestream footage, he got 4 stacks but I also wonder if he can just straight up gain 7 stacks which would be funny, like hitting a jackpot, you know, cause of lucky number 7. But more importantly, the attacked enemy also gains a special debuff which will provide Critical DMG bonus to yo
ur team mates whenever they attack this enemy. Sounds like Acheron might like him. Still, there is the concern of him powercreeping units like Gepard or March 7th – but I honestly think we shouldn’t judge so early because the thing is – Aventurine needs to spend skill points to provide shielding, so by default that puts him into either negative or neutral SP economy, while someone like Gepard for the most part is a positive skill point generator. Even March 7th has some uses like providing big t
aunt buff and applying AoE Ice Weakness. Although a 5-star powercreeping 4-star isn’t the end of the world, to be honest. And obviously, regarding his skill point usage, it’s clear that developers wanted him to provide shielding even without his skill, so that’s why the follow-up attack exists when you reach 7 Blind Bets – it’s so that he doesn’t have to spend SP to re-apply the shield for his team. Overall, I think he is shaping up to be one of the more interesting Preservation units in the gam
e and I am excited to get beat up by his boss form and by terrible gambling luck. So, if you haven’t seen the banners yet – Phase 1 will feature Acheron and Luocha along with their signature weapons, while the 4-stars are going to be Gallagher, Pela and Dan Heng. Now it is pretty funny to see that 4-star light cones will include Good Night & Sleep Well which is conveniently going to be one of the best 4-star options for Acheron, so it’s almost like the game tempts you to pull for her signature b
ecause – hey, worst case scenario you could obtain some copies of the 4-star cone. Well, no matter how you look at it, it’s still a gacha system at the end of the day, so don’t expect it to be fair. But when looking at the phase 1 featured 4-stars – Pela is most likely going to be an excellent support for Acheron while Gallagher seems to be a Fire healer who can also apply ATK reduction debuff on enemies and even increase the amount of Break DMG they will take, so again, might be a decent conten
der for Acheron teams. On the other hand – phase 2 will feature Aventurine and Jingliu along with their signature cones, while 4-stars are going to be Serval, Lynx and Luka. Honestly, I am more interested to learn more about this new 4-star Preservation cone called Concert for Two because because it will be featured along the signature cones. But I mean look – there’s a lot of cool characters you can pull for in 2.1 update, however, I would say if you care about obtaining all rewards from Pure F
iction and Memory of Chaos, then just pull for a character that can help you achieve this, otherwise if you don’t care about it – I would say Acheron right now offers an unfair Quality of Life upgrade that allows you to quickly farm enemies and I know for a fact she will be in all of my Simulated Universe runs because of how convenient this technique feels. Anyway, don’t take this video too seriously – it’s best to wait until the official update and then decide if the characters are worth pullin
g for. And while we wait, make sure to hit the like button on this video and subscribe to my channel. Thanks for watching and see you next time.

@Truck-kun11

Man, if in the first year of the game they are already creating characters that completely ignore the basic mechanics of the game (No Energy Recharge, Universal Weakness Break and Insta-Kill mobs) I worry that things will go off the rails very quickly in the near future.

@AlexN0704

Acheron is the reason that preservation lighcone (with topaz) "burn enemies when attacked" exists XD

@felipematheuss

As someone who loves doing the SU but hates dealing with the fodder enemies, I'll pull Acheron

@viniXrk

Actually, Aventurine renews a fraction of allies's shield whenever he does his Follow Up attacks. So he's skill point positive indeed.

@waterdog737

Mei is about to breaks sales again

@aceentertainment8082

My account doesn’t need another DPS. It really doesn’t need anything cuz I have Jingliu, Huohuo, and Ruan Mei though, but I really want Aventurine. As a resident of Las Vegas, it’s now my obligation to get gambler characters.

@aliceholmes4952

I’m gonna pull for Luocha because I need a second healer and I’m collecting the imaginary daddies.

@vamw

These next two banner cycles are so stacked. This is so hard 😭

@NemoRackkz

Reject meta? Mf Acheron will be Meta what the heck

@mrwannabe00

She looks cool but I already have Kafka and will save up for Sam

@SPrime345

Acheron will actually make me play simulated universe as I find doing it every week repetitive as I have to go through so many fights in order to have enough abilities to kill the bosses in a decent pace

@Heheeps

Blue archive mentioned 🗣️🗣️💯

@rullieaa2399

Based on story database of topaz it seems like every stonehearts have their own “boss form” or delusion if you recognize certain harbinger from genshin, i hope i see topaz’s boss form soon too

@Sigma993

Archeron looks pretty cool but I'm honestly more excited for Jinglius rerun. I'm definitely going to get her this time for sure!

@valkeeree

After the staleness of genshin combat for so long (pre fontaine) where dendro was the most interesting thing to happen, im happy that the SR team is going nuts. I WANT out of the box creative characters, theyve shown they think hard about balance and fun in equal measure, and i wouldnt put it past them one day creating situations where "power crept" characters again have space to shine I dunno i don't mind characters iterating and being better than older ones, you can always make older ones great, even if they arent the best anymore

@KudaGeatsune3821

Both IPC members are great on a clara team wonder if Svarog is keeping them in line

@karsonkammerzell6955

My problem with Star Rail is that with every new 'OMG!' character they've altered the end game activities to specifically favor those characters. Unlike Genshin's Abyss where the mechanic is more of a QoL, Star Rail's end game relies exclusively on playing to the mechanics due to the action economy and this very much creates a world where people feel not only compelled to pull, but feel an almost mandatory need just to stay on top of whatever change they make. In Genshin I have crafted several team compositions that can either outright ignore the mechanic and at least get all but one of the rewards OR end up playing to the mechanic and easily take the whole thing. And it has been this way since 2.0 for me when I started actually bothering with Abyss, lol.

@fuyuk1r1ft8

It's really awesome to see the creation of meta characters( here as beyond not the gamer term for most effective tactic available) which ignore the basic elements of the game, like energy, skill point limits, universal weakness break and even combat. However, i wonder if it is too early to be superceding these systems in only the game's first year since launch.

@acleanpairofsocks

I’m going for Aventurine and Gallagher. My man harem needs new members. (But also bc I could use another preservation character and a fire healer would be awesome)
