In this Star Wars Battlefront update video I  will be looking at issues with the graphics of the classic collection. We'll be comparing  the new graphics and the original games. But before we do take a look at the  comparison though, make sure you do subscribe to this channel so you won't miss  any future battlefront classic videos. So one of the big talking points within the  community about this classic collection are the graphics. For starters, when i revealed the file  size, people were in d
isbelief. You're talking more than a five times increase in storage  required for these games. That's what happens when you upscale textures with AI and maybe  not so great compression? Seriously, the Xbox versions of the game have gone from a combined  seven gig to over 56. The PC version is to be around 50gig And even the switch version is over  25 which is quite substantial for a switch game. I've also read a lot of comments  on my videos and across social media with contrasting points of  vi
ew regarding how the game looks. We've seen people love how it looks like,  others say it's not improved enough, and even people say nothing has changed. Also  there have been questions raised whether it's using AI upscaling or not. I would say the general  consensus has been it looks better due to the high resolution As you'll see when we take a close  look it does look worse in quite a few cases. With all of the contrasting views, I thought let's  do the graphics comparison between the origina
l games and this classic collection based on the  gameplay footage we've gotten from the trailer. For context, I'm using the 4K trailer  of the classic collection vs the PC version of Battlefront 2 on Max settings and in some cases the backwards compatible  Xbox version of Battlefront 2004. Let's start with this shot on Geonosis. The AI  upscaling ruins the bubble turret textures for me. You can clearly see artifacting caused by  AI upscaling. It's creating colours that aren't present on the ori
ginal texture. The bolts  should be identical but the AI has them as different shapes. Sure, it's sharper but it  loses how it actually supposed to look like. Onto mos eisley for hero assault. As you  can see there isn't too much of a difference in this particular scene. I say the biggest  difference is the ground texture and The clouds in the sky box. Some other buildings do  look better with the high resolution. Just for fun, I thought it'd be  interesting to compare both the PC, Xbox, backwar
ds compatible version and the new  trailer together. You can see That the classic collection is much closer to the original PC  version rather than the current Xbox version. Let's take a look at this shot on the  tantive vi. If you look at this grey box, you can clearly see the AI upscaling in  play. Yes it looks sharper but there Is artifacting going on. Those three circles  look like drawings rather than manufactured perfect circles. There is definitely an  improvement to the floor texture tho
ugh. The door frame on the left looks a bit strange.  At first I thought it was just reflections like in the original game. The console versions  didn't have that but the PC version does although the reflections seem to be far more  prominent in this trailer. But at the same time they don't entirely make sense I'm not sure  if this is an issue with the texture or due to the improved reflections It's reflecting more  of the corridor which is why it looks strange. Here's a look at the snowspeeder
front  on. The problem with AI upscaling is that you lose some of the finer shapes in  the original low resolution texture. From the circles to the rectangles,  even the grill you lose lot of the lines. They're just not as accurate  as the original But are high resolution. The lights in the scene are  brighter. And it does appear they've actually added real lights  to the stand in front of the falcon. This is also interesting to compare the  original PC version, the Xbox backwards compatible ver
sion and the new trailer. The PC  version just has better textures compared to the console version. There is a really good  amount of detail despite it being so old. On the naboo planes you can clearly tell the sky box is much better. The downside of  the AAT having low resolution textures though and being upscaled is that it  does lose some of the detail accuracy. Let's go to Kamino now and The clones do look  sharper. But I'm not so keen on the walls, There's a bit too much purple  rather than
grey in the colour. I think at first, I do prefer that tie  fighter in this shot over the dune sea. My only concern is that on the wings there  is a lot of finer detail. There is a pattern on the wings and the original game whereas in  the trailer the fine lines are gone. Due to the angle and ever so slight of detail, This might  be down to YouTube compression. If so it should be fine in the final game. Due to YouTube  compression on my video you might even see less detail and the comparison di
fference is less  noticeable if you were playing the game yourself. Here's another geonosis shot. The  background train is definitely far sharper and looks better. I would say  that AT-TE has a more pleasing colour in the original because no lighting  is affecting it. I think there might be new lighting in the classic collection  so it's looks more accurate in that shot. I don't have a comparison for this one but  just look at the UI elements in particular the text. It features typical AI upscal
ing  behaviour where letters blur into each other. If these were typed out there would be sharp they  wouldn't be banding but this is all AI upscaled. Something you've probably noticed is a difference  in colour between The trailer and the original games. It's particularly noticeable on tons  of four and Camino. Hopefully this is just a trailer colour decision and the actual  collection is more like the original games. This isn't to say AI upscaling is always bad. It  can be done well. Even in r
egards to this game, I think in some cases It does look fine  And even an improvement in some areas. I'd say the biggest difference and  improvement is looking at things from distance. It doesn't look as blurry because  the high resolution. If you're not up close looking at these sort of things you're probably  won't notice and that's fine if you don't care. Personally, I love detail and seeing some  of that detail ruined by the upscaling is a shame. That's just one of the downsides to  the sour
ce texture being so low resolution. Other textures that are larger in size and those  that don't have small details will look better. There is also the chance that the game looks  better than in the trailer. Be it due to improvements made to upscaling before release, or  even YouTube compression as I mentioned for one of the examples. Collection does release in just  a couple of weeks but this trailer may have been made a while back. We don't know when it was  made but it's just something to thi
nk about. That's why when you just look at the sharpness  yeah it looks better and more pleasing to the eye for most that may have not seen  the older games for quite some time. Especially back then most people played on an  old CRT monitor and may not have checked out the backwards compatible Xbox version  or PC version which still looks fine. Based on what we've seen in the trailer, I think  it does maintain the lock of the original games which I think is what they set out to achieve. I  know
some people want a full on remake so it looks 10 times better But there are plenty of people  that like how it is basically the original game. Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad we're getting  a re-release and it'll help preserve the game for the most part. I'm just disappointed in  some of the upscaling found in the trailer. I would love to hear your thoughts on what I've shared in this video so let me know  down in the comments section below. If you enjoyed this video, don't forget to  like it

@kevintravers3988

I don’t care about the graphics. I just want the game to play good. And enjoy it with people online.

@SuperStarWarsFan1138

With my vision, it really won't matter how it looks. What matters to me is how it plays.

@fabiof.8152

Big problems, huh? We really are nitpicking for views now, aren't we?

@rkisf90

I gotta say, I don’t think you’re going to notice any of this stuff during gameplay.

@XxMandoManxX

This is very nitpicky my man. 99.9% of people won't notice any of this during gameplay.

@Gooey_Mess

These are non issues. If you have a preference for the older look that's fine, but most won't care or notice changes like the grill lines or slight color differences.

@JustAJesusLover-rs8ep

The bolts on the Republic gunship aren’t all the same size? Nah, forget it. How do I cancel my preorder!

@asilduin4594

These are BIG problems? 😂 These barely even matter.

@hendrytennisin4

Well it can't be any worse than what rockstar did

@SpaceCowboyXCII

Oh wow…too soon to nitpick like this….

@Webhead259

I wish they had Capcoms man power cuz dude this game deserves a true Remake

@charmxreuploads5997

As good as these games are, using A.I upscaling textures is just pure laziness.

@DJP1194

Man, the game ain’t even out yet.

@zachbernstein3804

Ppl thinking AI upscaling downgrades the monetary worth of this game are crazy

@smittywerbenjagermanjenson1095

In the end, we can just mod them back lol also it seems they upscaled the console version textures rather than upscale the PC textures which causes that purple hue sometimes.

@AlwaysVotingMAGA

We all wanted them to fully remaster/remake it with brand new textures but it's still great what we got. I'm a little less excited knowing it's more of a port than a remaster though...😢

@battledroid3497

I’m more worried that it looks like ventress reuses aayla secura’s animation instead of the lightsaber nunchucks from the Xbox dlc

@G8oo8N8

I really want this. But I'm waiting for release date and see how it goes from a safe distance just in case.

@Zealot2024

I think they out to just bring HarrisonFog in on it if he's willing and just use his remastered maps/sides, with optional default sides. It would make the game look so much better and garner a lot of support from the playerbase who are itching for graphical improvements.

@texanchiss4875

Hope there's 64 bots for us offline players and a mod workshop on steam.
