Star Wars The Acolyte Trailer 2024: Rise Of The Sith Breakdown and Easter Eggs

Star Wars just released the new acolyte trailer This is actually the same trailer that they showed off a Star Wars celebration a long time ago. I remember doin

g a video about this, but it was like super janky potato quality footage. Now we have a nice, shiny HD version. There's a whole bunch of Easter eggs here. We already know a lot about the series, so we'll break it all down. I'll be doing videos for all the episodes, so be sure to subscribe to get them all. It drops on June 4th, so we'll have episodes of these and House of the Dragon Season two and the Boys Season four all at the same time. It is going to be a great summer, just starting at the be

ginning of the footage to work our way through, shot by shot, talking about Easter eggs and WTF moments. This is meant to be set in the final days of the High Republic era right before the events of the Phantom Menace. I think it's meant to be about 50 years before Phantom Menace. They keep changing the time period like this. Seems like it's getting closer and closer to being a Palpatine prequel, but I don't think that's actually what's happening on the series. I think the closest we'll see to a

young version of Palpatine on this series is like the very last episode in like a post-credits scene kind of tagged moment. Maybe. Like the way we saw. Quite gone in in the very final episode. Like the very final moment of the final episode of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Maybe some rise of Palpatine kind of moment in that way. But I think we're actually closer to seeing a version of Darth Plagueis during this series. So if you see people posting the Darth Plagueis memes when this is happening, t

hat's why. Have ever told you the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise just because of his age and when this series is meant to take place. Darth players should either be becoming or already be the current active Sith lord during this era. But the whole premise is, during the High Republic, the Jedi Order is at the height of its power, and it's just getting ready to begin the fall, so to speak, as the Sith begin to rise. so it's sort of a rise of the Sith kind of show. But remember, rule up to the

whole idea is that you have this sect, like this group of people with Amandla Stenberg getting ready to join them. She joins as the acolyte, quote unquote, like she is the acolyte. this is the official poster they released. The reason why it's a bloody lightsaber to imply red for Sith. Obviously. But. At the beginning of the series and some sort of flashback explaining her backstory, she started out as a Jedi Padawan, like she was force sensitive. She was going to become a Jedi Padawan. Somethi

ng really bad happened to her. She has a sister. I think that is meant to die at some point. And she winds up blaming the Jedi order for her sister's death. And that drives her dark. And she joins this sect of dark side practitioners that are trying to join the Sith. there was a rumored synopsis. I think part of the idea is that because there's the rule of two and they want to maintain that whole premise, you have this group here that you see in the trailer that are dark side practitioners and t

hey're actually vying for a spot to become the next Sith Apprentice. As to this Sith lord at the time, which might be Darth Plagueis But this person she goes to me definitely seems like a human. This could be a version of Palpatine, like young Palpatine. You can let me know who you think this is in the trailer. this could also be completely misleading too, just based on the way they're framing the shot. there's going to be a lot of talk about how the timeline works out during the series. Hopeful

ly, they'll come out and officially say when this takes place so we can actually start guessing on when certain characters will start showing up. in throughout the trio the Jedi. Find out that someone has been going around killing different Jedi. Like, who is this person that's going around assassinating everyone? she's that person. And it's all part of her initiation into the Sith. one of the jokes or one of the twists you talk about when you talk about Sith is that there's only ever two. So th

e whole idea is that you can't become the next Sith Lord or the next Sith Apprentice unless you kill the previous one. Palpatine was only able to make Mannequin Skywalker his apprentice, Darth Vader, because they'd gotten rid of Darth Maul, even though he wasn't dead. Like, he didn't have to die. They just had to get rid of him. so. I wouldn't be surprised if we see some of that going on during the series too. like this character Amandla Stenberg is playing wants to become the next The Apprentic

Does she have to kill the previous apprentice it if Palpatine is going to become the apprentice to Darth Plagueis at some point before the Phantom Menace, after the events of this series, does he wind up killing her? but it seems like in the footage there are two different time periods they're implying here because you see the actor from Squid game with long hair at the beginning of the trailer, but later in the trailer when they're investigating all these Jedi murders you see in was short ha

ir. so I'm guessing him with the long hair at the beginning of the trailer is in the past when something bad happens to this new main character they kind of do something similar with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series with they start with a flashback that they did AI Temple to Order 66. And you see what happened to young Reeva in why she became a Sith inquisitor later. it looks like his Jedi master's name is Saul. They also paint around the room to show you a bunch of non-human Jedi while this is going o

They juxtaposed the footage of a Mando Sandberg's character going after Carrie-Anne Moss, Jedi character it seems like that's happening later in the timeline you just cutting this footage together to make it seem like it's happening at the same time? I'm not sure which planet this is on that she goes to to kill her at. this girl that sees fire, quote unquote, in her vision might be the young version of Amanda Sandberg's character, the one who's trying to kill Carrie-Anne Moss in the future. H

ere We get a little fight scene with them just to show you some of the fight choreography. It actually looks pretty solid. She's using a couple of knives to try and take her down And remember, she's not Sith yet. She's just part of this sect of dark side worshipers that are trying to join the Sith Order, become the next Sith Apprentice. like I said, my assumption is that her going around killing all these former Jedi that she holds responsible for whatever tragedy happened to her in the past is

part of her initiation to become the next Sith Apprentice. I think that they actually use some of the same fight choreographers from the Matrix movies, too. That's why it looks a little bit similar. Also, you have Carrie-Anne Moss from the Matrix movies doing some of Star Wars version of kung Fu, which is a little bit more like Terra Terracotta. maybe that's what they're actually supposed to be doing here, like a version of actual terracotta. we get a bunch more of the other New Jedi characters

later in the timeline? this person with the makeup effects is the alien character Might look familiar because it's Daphne Keane from the Logan movie as Jackie, one of the Jedi characters. She actually came to Star Wars celebration last year to talk about her character, but couldn't actually talk about her character. I wasn't sure who she was going to play because the footage that we saw was so janky and potato quality, you couldn't actually make it out. But now it looks like she's playing this n

on-human Jedi, this is the person with her is named Lord. He seems like a fellow trainee or just a fellow Jedi who's a friend of hers. one of the exceptions that you probably noticed during this is that any time you see Jedi walking around, there's so many more during this era, during the High Republic that they're all running around together in the trailer with a few exceptions, when Amanda Sandberg's character goes after them, she usually targets them while they're alone. one of the reasons fo

r this is that later in the timeline, like during the events of the prequels and then obviously after that after order 66 is that there's so few Jedi. It'd be weird if you saw a bunch of them just running around together. Like what? Where did you come from then during this part of the trailer, they sort of get into the whole murder mystery investigation aspect of it, like hardboiled Detective Jedi story they start learning about Amandla Stenberg character going around killing all these different

Jedi characters. And it seems like at least when this is picking up, they start to learn about this sect of dark side worshipers and what's going on with the Sith, because they don't actually see the red Sith light saber until the end of the trailer so theoretically, if you see people running around with red light sabers, you'd only ever see potentially two at any one time to red light sabers. I cannot wait for all the memes to post. Will we actually start getting those episodes like we actuall

y are seeing the red light sabers? actually might. Digging a little bit deeper into how you create a Sith lightsaber to during this, because part of the idea is that you don't actually find a red light saber crystal. You actually take a regular kyber crystal like a regular Jedi lightsaber crystal, and you bleed it red with your hate. Like you pour all of your anger and all of your hate into it and it bleeds red. And that's what makes the lightsaber. Red actually got into this and some of the Dar

th Vader comic books that take place after order 66 were Palpatine sends him on a mission to kill this lone Jedi like he's going around the galaxy, killing Jedi after Order 66 with the inquisitors he finds one Jedi, he kills them, takes his lightsaber, bleeds it's red, and then makes his red light saber that you see Darth Vader wielding during that era and later during the events of the original trilogy part of the reason for that is that he couldn't just bleed his old lightsaber crystal from hi

s original lightsaber or the original replacement to his lightsaber because remember, he lost his lightsaber during Attack of the Clones. So he got a new one because after the battle on Mustafar, Obi-Wan Kenobi took his lightsaber and then kept it with him and gave it to Luke. That's why Darth Vader had to go out and kill another Jedi and find another lightsaber crystal. I'm not sure what planet this is. They're looking at this forest, But we also see a new Wookie Jedi who I also believe they fe

ature during the High Republic comics. There are a couple characters, I think, during this series that are featured during those comics, like very long lived characters one of the best examples of that is Master Yoda. It wouldn't be young Yoda, it'd be younger Yoda. He'd still be hundreds of years old, though. So wouldn't be like the Grogu version of Yoda. It'd be like the slightly more spry version of Yoda. wee little more of Soul's character investigating these murders. Notice that he still ha

s long hair. You can kind of chart the timeline of when all these scenes are taking place based on his hair length. if you remember my Game of Thrones videos from way back in season five and Game of Thrones season six, we had Kit Harington hair watch to try and chart whether or not he would come back after the big cliffhanger in the end of Game of Thrones Season five. that was where the fandom coined the term hair watch. So here watch during this trailer, you can actually sort of chart when it's

happening in the past and when it's happening in the future. not totally clear what planet this is. Although any time you see Cliffside with the sea like this, it looks a little bit like Naboo, But this temple actually looks very rundown. we see the main character, Amanda Stenberg, come to try and kill souls. Character. He still has the long hair. this is probably when he finally learns what's really going on with all the Jedi murders. this person also might seem familiar here, poking his head

around the corner here. This is Manny Jacinto. I do not think that he's playing a Jedi character. this shot looks like them in the future with Carrie-Anne Moss, Saul's character. A couple other Jedi Like this Wookie Jedi in the background here, surrounded by that sect of Sith acolytes. it just seems like they've found them. They're confronting them about what's going on. all the text about age of light, darkness rising is about the rise of the Sith Order, basically that the beginning of the end

of the age of Light, so to speak, the beginning of the end of the height of the Jedi as they begin to fall. this seems like the leader of that dark side acolyte group. it looks like her name is on it. Say, I'm not sure if I'm pronouncing that correctly. What the wait for them to actually speak it during that first couple of episodes. this scene of the fire in the background of the force seems like what the little girl was talking about in the Jedi Temple. Like when you close your eyes, what do y

ou see? I see fire, I think this is meant to be the actual tragic event that drives her to the dark side, to this group of acolytes. And I think what's going on here is that she has a twin sister who does not join the Jedi order, but she's forced to leave her by the Jedi like she's trying to join the Jedi, becoming a Padawan. And they force her to leave her sister. Her sister dies and and she blames the Jedi order for their dogmatic ways. maybe there's something she can do to actually save her s

ister the Jedi. Prevent her from doing that either way, the series is trying to present you with the oppose the viewpoint of why the Jedi Order is too dogmatic and why they're stuck in their ways and why that's a bad thing. the vibe of the series is meant to be the person you hate says something that you agree with, only the Sith. Like, the Jedi isn't as great as everybody says it is not sure what's going on with the ship crashing here, but this is High Republic era design. one of the cool thing

s about this being set during the High Republic era is they can have a vastly different design language, especially for all the ships. expect things to look a little bit more like the design language of the prequels. when the Sith acolytes talk about this being about power and who's allowed to wield it, you see Amanda Sandberg's main character meeting with this sect of Dark Side acolytes Then we see Daphne Keene's, Judy character, the other Jedi, assaulted by the Sith with the Sith Lightsaber. j

ust because the hand that's catching it is African-American. I'm guessing this is Amanda Sternberg's character. She does become the next Sith Apprentice somewhere. And this is just happening a little bit later in the series. When that does happen, they could have some sort of Palpatine post-credits scene where he becomes the next. They're like, you see a very young version of him getting ready to become the next Sith Apprentice at the very end of this. it's either going to wind up being like 50

years before The Phantom Menace or like 100 years before if it's 100 years before, than the timeline for Palpatine wouldn't quite work out. If it's 50 years before then you can definitely do a very, very young version of Palpatine. this will be an interesting addition to the canon, though, because wouldn't that mean that Palpatine has to kill her to become the next Sith Apprentice to Darth Plagueis or theoretically, wouldn't Darth Plagueis have to kill her to become the next Sith Apprentice in t

he next Sith? Lord one of the beauties of the Sith, you cannot become the next apprentice or the next Sith Lord unless you kill the previous one. really important to remember that going into the series because there is no written law about this character here, means that the minute that she becomes the next Sith Apprentice, her life span just got way, way shorter. one of the really important reminders, too, is that they're rereleasing Phantom Menace in the theaters in May, and they're supposed t

o attach some special new footage of this to that, like another new trailer. legacy. And I think that's because a lot of the series will be referencing the events of The Phantom Menace and the prequels like it's meant to be a prequel to the prequels. In fact, that's why you keep hearing people talking about the rise of Palpatine, the rise of the Sith, when the series is going on. but everyone posts all your theories and all your reactions in the comments below. So far it actually looks pretty so

Like it'd be interesting to see basically the Fall of the Jedi R.I.P. to most of these Jedi, we might get a little more footage or a little more teasers before they release that next big trailer in May, though. But the series isn't actually coming out until June, so it'll probably be May before they really start dropping a bunch of footage. We got The Mandalorian and Grogu a movie that they're going to be filming really soon. I think that's meant to temporarily take the place of when season

four would have happened, like some of the plot that would have happened during season four and they might do a slightly different version of season four at some point later. We know they're doing Ahsoka season two. That's Dave Filoni. Next big thing that he's working on, that'll probably be released next year at some point. and they did confirm that Andor Season two will release in early 2025, like around this time probably in 2025. we're also supposed to get the Star Wars Skeleton Crew series

that's meant to be a Mandalorian spinoff during that part of the timeline Just in a different part of the Galaxy I'm not expecting a trailer for that until after this series actually airs Like acolyte is meant to be like the new main series for Star Wars this year Star Wars Skeleton Crew might come out at the very end of this year, Whatever they wind up releasing, whatever footage we see, of course, I will do videos about it.
