The best Netflix series to watch! The Fall of The House of Usher Series Recap and Review

m I wanted to dress  up for this review and this is my this is my dress up anyways last week I watched all eight  episodes of The Fall of the House of Usher which is a drama horror miniseries available on Netflix  each episode is an hour long the last episode is like an hour and 15 minutes the series was created  by Mike Flanigan and a premiere on October 12 on Netflix so it's been on the platform for close  to 2 weeks already I really enjoy the series I watch the whole thing and in a week I wat

ch  two episodes in like four days cuz I watch two episodes per day and I got to say the show  grabbed me on the first episode I have a rule that I I give shows about three to four episodes  to grab my attention if you're if it's the fourth episode and I'm bored I don't want to see it I'm  not going to finish this series serious but this series grabbed my attention on the first episode  it was that good they set up the show where you want to know who these people are what they do why  is this ha

ppening to them like immediately on the first episode the storyline description on IMDb  reads as follows the Usher family is never far from controversy The Fortunes of siblings rodri  and meline Usher were made through fortunado Pharmaceuticals a company whose products are often  under scrutiny due to health concerns assistant district attorney C August dupin is determined to  L A conviction in his case against fortunado and the ushers have gone to trial now right in the  middle of the trial ro

dri's children are dying under mysterious circumstances this miniseries is  Loosely based on the short story by Edgar aleno of the same name which was published in 1839 and  throughout the series there are knots to other short stories by Edgar Alan po so if you are a fan  of Edgar Alan Po and his writing you're probably going to really love this series I actually didn't  know anything about this show I've never read the short story by Edgar Almo and to be completely  honest please don't laugh at

me but to be honest I when I saw the title of this uh series online  I thought this was a documentary about Usher and I just thought the Fall of the House of Usher I  thought he was uh doing the Super Bowl I thought he was doing good what do you mean The Fall of  the House of Usher uh but Usher has nothing to do with this okay this is not about the singer Usher  anyway so last week I was looking for something to watch and this show popped up on the home on  the homepage of Netflix and the artwo

rk caught my eye it looked interesting and I decided to press  play play and I was immediately hooked this show at the end I was a little depressed but it was  a really good watch the show explores a lot of themes like greed ambition family Legacy lust  it was really enjoyable so in a nutshell this show is about Rodrick Usher he is the matriarch  of this very wealthy family the Usher family he and his sister meline when they were younger back  in the 70s when they were trying to take over the fo

rtunado pharmaceutical company um they met this  lady named Verma who she kind of represents the devil but she's not the devil she never says she's  the devil but she sees all she knows all she can tell the future your past she can tell what you  could have been in another life she can alter your future reality so her name is Verma and she met  well they met met her at this bar and they made an agreement with her that uh they would never be  convicted of any crime and they will have all the rich

es in the world and all they had to do at the  end of rodri's life in the last couple of weeks of his life his whole bloodline had to end and  then he would die with his sister so they agreed to this deal with Verma but they think they made  this all up like they imag did because this all happened right after they killed the guy on New  Year's Eve and they were drinking and they were trying to like get an alibi um so they thought  they made up the whole thing but then immediately after they made

the deal like a few days later uh  rodri became the CEO of fortunado and his sister started working with him and they grew into  this billion dooll family rodri also fathers six children two of them from his marriage and  and then four bastards as they call them that's what they call them in the show he also has a  granddaughter who's a teenager and unfortunately for the granddaughter she dies because she's part  of the bloodline U but she had a nice death she died in her sleep unlike his other

six children  anyways I'm about to spoil the whole show so if you haven't seen the show and you don't like  spoilers I suggest that you step out and go watch the show come back here and tell me what  you think and watch the video um and share your thoughts so in the first episode we meet meline  and rodri as children they were the product of an affair their father was the owner of the fortunado  pharmaceutical company back in the 70s or 60s uh but he never acknowledged them as his own children 

which is why when rodri has his own bastard children he says that he will always acknowledge  them and he will always love them uh even if they were from different women because of his own dad  that never loved him in the first episode we see of rodri buried all his six children they've all  died a horrible death and it goes back and forth from the past to the present and we learn little  by little we learn more about the Usher family and their evil empire which was built on the opioid  epidemi

c which they kind of started we also meet Verma who is this woman who kind of represents  the devil I guess but she's not the devil but she uh goes to each of his children as a different  person and the lady that plays um Verma is really good what's her name Carla gu gjino Carla gjino  I'm sorry Carla if I messed up your last name but she's so good in this role because in each uh each  of his children they meet like a different version of her and she kind of plays with her head and  makes them g

o insane to the point that when they die their horrible death it looks like an accident  or like suicide someone else that's really good in this show is Mark Hamill he plays the family's  lawyer and I guess cleaner he cleans up after their messes he's so good in this I didn't even  recognize him at first anyway so Verma goes to each of his kids as a different person and drives  them in saying and they all die and at first you don't know who this lady is it's not explained  everything's not expla

ined until like the very last episode so throughout the episode she shows  up in different forums and you're like who is this lady at one point they think she's like a bastard  child of um of rodri's cuz they remember seeing her her remember her from like that bar and they  were like oh that's probably her daughter but it was her so rodri he realizes what's happening  after all his children are dead he's like oh this that was a real deal so he decides to confess  his sins to the district attorne

y so they meet up in this abandoned house and he's like all right  I'm going to tell you everything and he shares through each episode he's explaining how each of  his children died and what happened and who this lady is what he did and at the end he confesses  to the murder of the guy that was running the pharmaceutical company before he took over but  throughout the episode he's like narrating what's going what's happening to his kids and uh his his  life story he's also like losing his mind b

ecause he he keeps seeing all his dead children and  they sometimes will pop up out of nowhere those are like the jump scares that we have there to be  honest this is not a horror show I wasn't scared of it there's like a couple of jump scares and  it's mostly like him seeing his children they one is burned the other one's all like I'll get into  it but they all look really messed up and they just keep following him around wherever he goes so  at one point the district attorney is like so how do

you know that they die like this and he's like  well they told me after they die because he keeps seeing them and I have to say this whole family  is crazy they all the kids hate each other like they were raised to pretty much comp compete with  each other they're all extra horny and they're all very greedy so the first one that died the first  of his children that die is his younger son uh Perry Usher he was the only one who didn't have a  career out of the six he was the youngest and he was t

rying to prove himself to his dad so he found  out about this abandoned house that the family owns not a house but an abandoned uh Factory that  the family owns so he decides that he's going to throw a party just for like the wealthy just for  a VIP list that he's going to make and he's going to charge people and then there was going to be  all these drugs and then the plan was for them to once the they're going to sprinkle uh turn the  sprinklers on and that was the queue for everyone to like s

tart having sex it's going to be this big  orj party that he was going to have it was like uh a very private no one knew about it not even his  family knew about it he did it behind their backs except one of one of his brothers cuz he help  him get all the drugs so when he they turned the sprinklers on inside the building instead of  water acid came raining down on them and burned all of them alive everyone at that party burned  alive including Perry and as rodri is telling the district attorney

this he explains that the tanks  on top of the factory didn't have water in them it had volatile materials that the pharmaceutical  company kept in there and they were planning to get rid of it eventually but they never did  but Perry didn't know this he just found out about this abandoned Factory and he was like let's  have a party anyways and then he died the next one that died was his daughter Camille who was also  a bastor Perry was Al a bastor as well uh Camille was a publicist and she was

a publicist for the  family she had two assistants and part of their job description was to sleep with her and perform  sexual favors that was part of the job description she died because she didn't like one of her sister  who was a surgeon and who was experimenting on chimpanzees so one night she's knocked into her  sister's lab to like get proof and take photos and one of the chimpanzees went wild and attacked her  to death the next son to die was his son Napoleon who was a famous video game

developer he was uh  in the relationship with a guy while also cheating on him with other women one night he got really  drunk and started doing drugs and he murdered his boyfriend's cat but he didn't remember all of this  he only found the cat dead in his apartment so instead of telling his boyfriend he went to a pet  store and try to find a cat that looked like him and that's where he met Verma who was pretending  to work for the pet store and she like gave him a cat but wasn't really a cat he

was the only one  that could see the cat and he he was going insane trying to like catch this cat that kept attacking  him in the apartment when he brought him to the apartment but like no one could see the cat except  for him and throughout the whole episode he's like fighting with this cat that he's the only one that  can see so he calls Verma at the pet store he's like can you please come get this cat please help  me so she goes there and she tells him oh the cat is inside the walls so he st

arted destroying  the um his apartment and his boyfriend comes in and he like the whole apartment is destroyed  and at one point he sees the cat sitting on the balcony railing so he lunges towards the cat and  he falls off the balcony and he lives in like of the penthouse apartment he fell to his death  so everyone thought it was an accid I mean a suicide but it was Verma who was like your it's  time it's your time to go Napoleon was a bastard child as well and the next one was uh victorine  who

is also a bastard she is also a surgeon the surgeon that was uh testing on chimpanzees but she  finds a human subject who is Verma pretending to be the southern lady this Southern older lady and  victorine slowly goes crazy because she like wants to move to human trials and she has a girlfriend  who's also a surgeon and the girlfriend's like no it's not ready we can't do this and they get  into to this huge fight and victorine I mean her girlfriend's like I'm going to tell you're not  supposed

to be doing this the trials are not ready so victorine out of Rage throws something on her  head and kills her so she starts like she puts the device into her dead girlfriend's heart and then  she starts going crazy cuz she hears this noise but then it was like this the device that she put  into her girlfriend's heart that kept like pumping a dead heart and she kept hearing that in her head  anyways when she realized what she did she decides to kill herself and she's like stabs herself  in the h

eart right in front of her dad cuz her dad goes over there to see like what's going on  with her and then she stabs herself in the heart then his other daughter who he had with his uh  wife tamlane she is his oldest daughter she's married to a fitness influencer and they have this  Lifestyle brand and then she goes slowly insane as well she's another freaky one she hires a sex  worker to pretend to be her and like come home and like talk to her husband and have dinner while  she watches and like

Pleasures herself so one day when she's doing this launch for her new Lifestyle  brand she sees oh so Verma shows up to her house pretending to be like one of the sex workers and  then she starts seeing her everywhere and at the launch of her Lifestyle brand she sees Verma and  she starts going crazy and start throwing stuff and she hits her stepmom who's like much younger  so rodri Usher is married to this much younger woman uh that he met at a clinic she's like really  trying the the his now

wife the younger wife is really trying to like be a family and be there  for her kids so she I mean for his children so at the launch she's there to support um what's her  name Tom Lane but then Tom Lane throws something on her cuz she thinks it's like Verma anyways  she goes back to her house she's like seeing Verma all over the wall She's cesing Every mirror  so she start smashing all the mirrors cuz she's hallucinating that someone's in her house so she  goes to her bedroom and being the frea

k that she is she has like a mirror on her ceiling and she  sees Verma there and her death I have to say was uh beautifully shot the way that is the lighting I  don't know who did who was the cinematographer but kudos to that person cuz I think that was like my  favorite scene the way that it was shot like she was she was like freaking out after smashing every  mirror in the house she's standing on top of her bed and she sees the H uh the reflection there and  she jumps hits the mirror and then

all this um so this whole sequence is in slow motion I'm going  to try to find it and put it in here the whole sequence is in in slow motion and you see her like  jump and she's like all this uh glasses coming to her and she's like in the mid air coming down and  there's glass at the bottom waiting for her to land and it's it was really painful to watch but  it was beautifully shot and the last of his kids to die is Frederick Usher who was the worst of the  Usher he is after all of them are dead

he's the sole survive well the sole heir to the fortunado  Empire so he's trying to make a smooth transition but he's going in insane as well because his wife  was at uh Perry's party uh the first one that died with his big ory she was there and he didn't  know about it so he's like super jealous and she actually survived she's all bandaged up and  burned and he takes her out of the hospital and puts her in the room to torture her because he's  like so jealous because he thinks she was having a

n affair with his brother so he's been drugging  her so he could torture her in the house and he's just like doing coke and having jealous Outburst  at her while she's like all bandaged up in the bed she's bedridden she can't do anything so he's been  feeding her this powder that numbs her completely so he could torture her and he at one point which  was the most painful scene to see watch he uses some p and pulls all her all her teeth because he  was like oh then the first time I met you you ha

ve the most beautiful smile so he pulled her teeth  while she was paralyzed uh from that powder that he gave her so Verma she's like she didn't like  that Verma was like listen you could have been easy I could have just given you a heart a heart  attack but you had to take her out of the hospital and bring her home and you had to grab those uh  pliers so he's given the task to demolish the the the factory where Perry had the orgy party  and on his way out she kind of hypnotized Verma hypnotizes

him and he instead of taking the coke  he puts the powder into his little bag so when he's in the building inside of the building he's  like I have to go and check something um he snorts cocaine but it's really that powder that uh that  has been numbing his wife and he like just gets paralyzed and he dies there the whole building  just come crashing down on him and kills well it was it was a little worse than that but I'll  let you watch it so you can see what happens but he deserved it he was r

eally bad and then his  granddaughter Verma had this whole nice speech with her and told her like her mom gets better and  you know she starts this nonprofit helping people and she helps millions of people and because you  know um ver is like this is this is the part of the job that I don't like but you're part of the  bloodline and then she just like touches her head and the girl dies and she just dies on in her  sleep which is nice and throughout the series the um Frederick just keeps seeing a

ll his dead  kids and the granddaughter it was really sad when he found the granddaughter so at the end he tells  the district attorney that um him and his sister that New Year's Eve when they met Verma they had  poison the guy that was running the pharmaceutical company and they bricked him in there was like  some they were building some stuff in the basement and they just hung him in a wall and built a brick  wall over um in front of him which is another knot to another one of um Edgar Alano's

uh short  stories and then at the end after all the users are dead they show that his lawyer was the only  only one that was convicted to prison for life his younger wife inherited the the company and she  turned it into a rehab facility to help people who are battling opio addictions the only thing that I  didn't like was that they didn't show the district attorney like he just found out that there's a man  um buried in the basement behind a wall I would have like for them to go and grab the s

keleton I I  guess you know give his family some closure um but they don't they don't show that anyways I wouldn't  say this is a horror series um I say it it's more of a thriller drama it was really well done the  writing was really good like the whole cast they were so good my favorite one of the children  uh I think it was the P the publist what's her name Camille that's her name I I the actress did  really good uh all of them were good and the guy that played Napoleon he was really good as w

ell I  like um he was my f one of my my second favorite I guess um but overall this was a really good show  I really enjoyed it I really I highly recommend it if you're looking for like a dark mysterious show  to watch um and it's only eight episodes you can I watch it in 4 days cuz I watch two episodes per  day I don't think there will be a second season I mean the way that it was shot it was it was just  the way that it was created I feel like it was just um like an anthology Series where it's

just  like one story maybe they could do like what they did with American Horror Story where they just  tell different stories maybe with Verma just put hering other families testing them I don't know I  don't know what they would do but I really enjoyed the show overall it was great if I had to rate  it I would give it like four star three and a half four stars I would say like three and a half  actually cuz I was I was expecting a little more horror so if you're looking for a new show to  ben
