The Blood Of Jesus (1941) | Mighty Epic Of Modern Morals [CC]

THE BLOOD OF JESUS (also known as The Glory Road) is an American independent fantasy drama race film written by, directed by, and starring Spencer Williams. It was screened in cinemas and in black churches. The film's commercial success enabled Williams to direct and write additional feature films. The plot concerns a Baptist woman who is accidentally shot by her atheist husband and is sent to a crossroads, where Satan tries to lead her astray. For years, The Blood of Jesus was considered a lost film until prints were discovered in the mid-1980s in a warehouse in Tyler, Texas. In 1991, The movie became the first race film to be added to the U.S. National Film Registry. Films such as this one, that used an all African-American cast and were shown specifically to African-American audiences, were known as "race films." Happy Black History Month! This film is in the public domain meaning it has been identified as being free of known restrictions under copyright law, including all related and neighboring rights. You can copy, modify, distribute and perform the work, even for commercial purposes, all without asking permission. Corporations lobbied Congress to get U.S. copyright laws extended by 20 years, twice! Because of that, it allows published works to be under copyright for almost a century and corporations to squeeze every last ounce of profit from them even long after the profitability has past. It keeps people from enjoying art, which is the purpose of art. #BlackCinema #BlackMovies #BlackFilms #publicdomainfilms
