why would I have taken my kids to the hospital wouldn't I have made sure they were dead and then cried crocodile tears that's insane to think that I would do such a thing and then bring the the Witnesses in against myself that's crazy this is Diane DS a 27-year-old postal worker but most importantly a mother on May 19th 1983 she arrived at the McKenzie Willet hospital with her three children who had all been shot this this tragic incident led to the demise of 7-year-old Cheryl Lyn DS while Diane
herself sustained a gunshot wound to her arm her story a carjacking gone horribly wrong on the night of the incident Diane claimed she was driving her three children home and a bushy-haired man flagged her down when she stopped he tried to hijack her car she resisted triggered by this he shot her children she then raced to the hospital during questioning about the incident Diane appeared very composed investigators would say two composed each piece of evidence seemed to diminish the likelihood
of Diane's story this coupled with the absence of defensive wounds suggestive of an altercation with her alleged attacker and several inconsistencies in her story further raised suspicions Diane had been shot in the left arm and she's right-handed and I made the comment to the Police Department there that night uh it looks to me like Diane did it because the children have been shot in the chest and Diane has only been shot in the arm the investigation proceeded but evidence prompted examiners to
believe the gunshots came from inside the car they presented a motive Diane had fallen in love with a coworker his name was Robert nickach everybody called him Nick and when I interviewed him he said an I was just so glad when I realiz she'd crossed the county line headed out of here but she was desperate to get his attention prosecutors claimed that DS's plan to further a romantic relationship with Robert nickach a married postal service worker who made it blatantly clear he didn't want childr
en led her to commit filicide
