The Grim Hobbyist

[Music] hi Souls welcome to my channel where Hobby's going to die so I got recently tagged in my first book tag which is exciting thank you spy little book nerd for tagging me this is Girl Scout cookie tag created by a web of stories I had a little bit of difficulty answering some of the questions but we'll get into that let's go ahead and just jump in so the first question is tree foils which each question is named after a Girl Scout cookie so tree foils a classic you love this is one of those
questions I have difficulty in answering because I have not read a whole lot of Classics I am working on it now though so the first book that I recently read that is a classic is Dorian Gray so I guess the answer is Dorian Gray I did thoroughly like this was like a 4.5 out of five stars for me chapter 11 I could have done without that would have made it perfect if it didn't have chapter 11 so I'm going to say Dorian Gray for this answer but I am reading Frankenstein as of this being filmed so wh
o knows maybe Frankenstein will be my answer later so the next question is lemon UPS a book you find inspiring by the way these Girl Scout cookies I don't know anything about these Girl Scouts cookies I like Thin Mints that's what I like so these other ones I have no idea maybe I should try different types of Girl Scout cookies later anyways so a book you find inspiring and that would be lady long riter by Bernie ends my husband recommended that I read this he hadn't read it yet but he heard goo
d things so I was like sure why not I'll go ahead and read it so I read this in a time where I was getting frustrated with myself because I I want all these changes I want to lose weight I want to get better with my skin I have a chronic skin condition that I kind of let go instead of getting the help that I need but I always find excuses to not do it so this was basically the answer this woman who's like in her 60s got tired of her life and basically said I'm just going to get on a horse and ri
de that's what she wanted to do so that's what she did she's like Dred everything and did it so it kind of inspired me to be like I have all these things that I want but I'm not doing anything about it so I should get up and do it do something about it and I did so this was very helpful to kind of like get my mind in that way of thinking this along with other ones but this especially kind of inspired me so that's the reason why this is the answer to that question so the next question is s'mores
a comforting book so so this was hard for me to answer too cuz I don't necessarily read books that are very comforting and then I thought about a little bit more and what I do read is poetry and I find any kind of poetry comforting Ed Allen PO is comforting to me even though most of his poetry is very maob and Melancholy but the one that I chose to answer this is the Peace of Wild Things by wle Berry this is a really really good collection of poetry there is some melancholy and called an action
type of poetry in this but there is also very peaceful the Peace of wild things poetry in this so I figured I'd answer with this book but honestly any kind of poetry book would be good as an answer here this is where I go for Comfort when I read so many other horror books and everything else are definitely not comforting my husband likes Comfort books and there is a book um I forgot the name of it and it's not anywhere near me but it's like the monkin robot series I'll put the name up once I fig
ure out the name of it but he really really likes that series is really comforting book to him so I want to read it because I want to dive into Comfort books but I have so many horror books I need to get through that I've not branched off into the Comfort book so who knows maybe I'll find a comfort book that I really love but until then poetry is where I get my comfort the next question is Adventure fools and adventurous book now I wasn't sure if this meant a book that like Ventures outside of y
our comfort zone as far as adventuring to other genres you don't necessarily read or if they mean literally an adventure book so this is a adventure book and the book that I thought of because I don't read a whole lot of adventure books oddly enough I want to get more into fantasy which will give me more Adventure books to answer this question but what I did read this year is the color of magic which is definitely an adventure book rince win has an adventure whether he liked it or not whether he
wanted to or not he had one heck of an adventure even though this is a short book you get a jam-packed adventure in this book and it's still one of my favorites really really love this so this is my answer to an Adventure book I want to read more of the series and I want to like I said Branch out into fantasy sci-fi Adventure type of books to find more because I like it an epic adventure every now and then so the next question is samoas a book that blends two or more genres so this was also kin
d of difficult because I feel like most books Blends genres or am I wrong in that or maybe most books that I read blend genres but the one that I answered with this is called the afterlife experiment by Sam Weiss I think is how you pronounced their name so this is a book that I recently finished on a book tour and and really really loved it you'll hear more about the book later um but I can tell you the genres so it would be sci-fi there's definitely a big sci-fi element in this but there's mayb
e to be more broad General I would say fantasy but it's more like a paranormal Supernatural element to it that I kind of put into the fantasy Spectrum so there's that and then Al obviously horror and then I would also say psychological Thriller there are scary parts of it for someone who's not as desensitized as I am would probably consider it very scary but I feel like there's more of a thriller element to this and also kind of like a almost like a fairy tale retelling because I definitely get
major Allison Wonderland Vibes to this so it definitely hits a lot of different genres to me personally so that's the answer to that one definitely check it out if you like really weird Topsy Turvy kind of books like I said I will talk more about this in my wrap up for March because I really like the book so you're definitely going to hear more about the afterlife experiment the next question is Dosey Do either a book you love or hates that everyone is the opposite of everyone loves or hates tha
t book so the book that I picked is Interview with a Vampire because when I announced that I was reading this I had a bunch of people except excited about me reading this and a lot of people really really love this book and as you have seen in my older videos about this I gave it one star and a lot of people were shocked by me giving this one star so this is definitely the answer to that I don't think an rice in general is for me but I'm not going to say that until I finish I am still reading th
e in the vampiress that I did soft dnf that to read other books I was more interested in but I'm going to go back to that real soon to finish it so I'm going to read that and I have violin by N Rice as well so I'm not going to say an rice is a no for me in general until I read those two other books and then kind of decide whether or not I want to read more of hers but this Interview with the Vampire is not for me definitely one star for me sorry to those who like the book the next one is Thin Mi
nts my favorite cookie one of your all-time favorites good question question add to thin mints I think Thin Mints is like a favorite for a whole lot of people so this was hard for me to answer too because I can't choose one book as my favorite it really depends on my mood or what I'm thinking about at the time because I have a lot of favorite books and it depends on if I really want a horror then I'm like oh then this would be the answer I can't really pick an all-time favorite so I went with a
book that is a favorite of mine that kind of impacted me in a way and that is white trash zombie or my life is a White Trash Zombie but is a series there's six books or nine I can't remember now they're behind me and I don't want to count them but um the whole series by Diana rolands so the reason why I'm answering with this is because I was having like a really bad reading slump this was 10 plus years ago it's definitely more than 10 I'm saying 10 is a general but it's definitely more than 10 b
ut I had a really really bad reading SL for many many years I was not reading anything books weren't interesting me and I walked into a Barnes & Noble and my husband found this I've talked about this book before in the Newbie book tag but my husband found this he thought the cover sounded interesting he knows that back then I'm not so much anymore I still like zombies but they're not like my favorite monster of all time now but back then I was really really big into zombies so he thought after r
eading this I'd be interested in and yeah I I got really really interested in this book and it got me out of my reading slump where I was adventuring into other books thanks to this so this is going to be my answer to that question is it my all-time favorite I mean it's got a really soft spot in my heart I really like this book I do recommend it for anyone who's interested in urban fantasy the writing isn't going to wow you but I just I just really like this book and then the last question is no
t necessarily a question but tag alongs tag some fellow booktubers which I will tag in the description no pressure If you don't want to do the tag or you've already done the tag I tried to make sure that you didn't do the tag but maybe I missed the video Alina from Elina and Wonderland Happy Hunt's library and bry's books I'm tagging you so again no pressure If you don't want to play along but those are my tags like I said I'll tag them down below in my description and that's it that's a wrap th
at's all the books that's all the questions so until next Wednesday like comment subscribe bye Souls

I can't wait to hear more about The Afterlife Experiment! 😍 My favorite girl scout cookies are Samoas lol but thin mints are a close second. I've heard of My Life As A Whitetrash Zombie! ☺️ I did not realize it's a series, though! I'm glad it helped you to get out of a reading slump! 📚

I'm so glad you enjoyed The Picture of Dorian Gray and Frankenstein. They're two of my favorites. Thin Mints are the BEST!

I read the 2 Monk & Robot books in January. They're great. The first one, especially. It's very comforting. Your Husband is right. Great vlog 🙌📚

I really hope you end up enjoying Frankenstein when you wrap it up!!

I still haven’t read My Life as a White Trash Zombie. I meant to read it when I saw you mention it before. I have to get to it! It sounds perfect!
