have many misconceptions about asexuality which can lead to accusations and diagnosis of mental
illness asexuals are often asked to prove their orientation is not caused by a mental or
physical illness before being accepted for who they are they are also sometimes asked to
seek psychological help and have their mental health examined people often suggest that as
exuals
are in denial of being gay or afraid to come out of the closet but being asexual doesn't make life
easy so it makes little sense for someone to hide homosexuality behind asexuality despite this it
is still common for asexuals to be pressured to have heterosexual sex asexuals are still faced
with the label of being unnatural despite the fact that they can conceive children as well as
anyone else this pressure is often Insidious with people trying to convert asexuals into liking sex
a
sexuals can end up in abusive relationships with Partners who think sex is owed to them and facing
society's pressure to change themselves can cause immeasurable stress a growing number of forms
and organizations Provide support and spread awareness about asexuality and a survey among
asexuals provided upon possible answer kick the invisibility of asexuals as a result of a lack of
awareness but they are still an enriching presence in the LGBT community there are worldwide groups
and dating
sites dedicated to asexual as well as sites that offer material on how to educate
people about asexuality the internet is where asexual people can find the greatest variety of
resources and discuss issues among themselves and with others hopefully this will lead to more
non-asexual people spreading awareness and including the orientation in their work the most
