[Intro playing] [Mike] Yeah my name is Michael J Young man, they call me Mike Yung. I'm from New York Well I've been singing all my life. I was signed a lot of years ago to three record companies and I wind up singing in the subway for 37 years. I had the kind of job that you pop in the parks and a friend of mine, he passed away now, but he said: "How much do you make?" I said 65 dollars a day. He said: "Come with me, in 3 hours you'll make 50 dollars." The rest is history. [Mike Yung singing] F
or singing you have to have an audience in the subway you got an audience everyday. But what happens you fall into that bag of doing something you love and singing for people and they're enjoying it and 37 years later I was still singing in the subways. I have so many people that are proud to just say "Hey I've been hearing Mike Yung for 20 years", "I've been hearing Mike Yung for X amount of years, I couldn't figure out why he's in the subway but he brought pleasure to me every day. I have a ba
d day at work, I come on my way home and I get to listen to Mike Yung, so that makes my night". You know, people say a lot of really important things, to let you know it's not just a subway. It's what you bring to the subway. [Mike Yung singing] The internet was a blessing for me. I did a song in the subway and it was 40 million views in 4 days. I did that Late Late Show, I did America's Got Talent. I said this one enough: "America's Got Talent's success is that you make it." You know what I mea
n? If you can bring a smile to somebody or somebody is feeling down and you bring their spirits up, I've been successful. Might not have the money, but I've been successful. I've been bringing joy to hundred and hundreds of people. Everything that happen there's a reason for it and I'm a real spiritual person, God said "It's time... So grab ahold of your seat, we're going to take a ride.". [Music playing: Martin Garrix feat. Khalid - Ocean (Martin Garrix & Cesqeaux Remix) Instrumental] Well Mart
in said he had seen me a long time ago online and he got in touch with some people and some people got in touch with me and voilà I met Martin Garrix. I'm a little old school, I didn't know who Martin Garrix was and when I mentioned his name all my kids went crazy. My brother down south went crazy and he was like: "Mike you don't know who you're talking about, that's Martin Garrix!". He said that I'll be coming to Amsterdam and that he wants to do a project with me and guess what, I'm in Amsterd
am. [Martijn] Want to try typical Dutch? This is typically Dutch, it's called a stroopwafel. Yeah I'll eat too. [Mike] Mmm. [Martijn] Lekker? [Mike] Might take them to my room. [Martijn] We were actually we met in New York and I said: "Man you should come to Amsterdam.". It was like: "Yeah yeah, cool!". But he never believed something until he actually sees it happen, and then we were in Amsterdam and he told me: "Man we're here, now we're going to do it.". The first time I found about Mike Yun
g was a video of him on my Instagram. It was him singing "If You Don't Know Me By Now" and the video went super viral. His voice is so special and I miss those type of voices in music. And I was like: "It would be so sick if he wanted to work together.". We connected and then 2 months later he came to Amsterdam and here at STMPD it was magical. I was with Ilsey Juber and with Bryan Lee, and of course with Mike and we rented a boat, we went on the canals with a guitar and we wrote 5 amazing songs
, we were jamming. And sometimes we went under a bridge and he would go full voice and just the echo, I had goosebumps so many times because he has such powerful voice. Everybody was standing on the sides of the canals they immediately when he started singing or going full voice it would go like immediately start filming, it was special. [Martijn] The funny thing is we connected even without the music. [Mike] Yeah. [Martijn] Just hanging in New York, we met in New York. [Mike] Oh yeah. [Martijn]
I was like this guy is a special guy, I wanna to work with him. [Mike] No no no, he's a special guy man. [Martijn] This guy is a special guy [Mike] This guy is a special guy. [Martijn] I'm a computer nerd. He got the voice, crazy. Craziest voice ever. [Mike] I got the voice, he got the magic. So you put the two together, it's like unstoppable you know what I mean. [Martijn] Thank you, that means a lot. [Mike] For sure. [Martijn] No this guy has so much emotion, so much power in his voice and it
's the first of many. We're working on a lot more crazy stuff. [Mike] Yeah. [Martijn] I feel like "Something To Believe In" is the first perfect song and we've wrote many many more so it's going to be a journey, a very cool journey. [Mike] For sure. [Martijn starts playing guitar] [Mike singing] I'm a lover so don't tell me who to love, I'm a runner because I got somewhere to run. I just listen to the voices in my head, when they tell me I always have something to believe in. As long as I got so
mething to believe in. As long as I got something to believe in. As long as I got something to believe in, oohh ohhhh Whoo [Martijn] Well it's funny because Mike and I are complete opposites if you look at it from a musical side. I'm very electronic and he's soul. He has got an old voice It was really really cool to find a balance in the middle but while we met and while we started working there were actually so many points, so many fields that we were exactly the same in. That was what's really
cool, we both share the same passion for music We get happy if we see other people happy and Mike is an unique, very special person. He has the most amount of joy if he sees someone else smile and I can relate to that [Mike] I call Martin a man who makes magic happen. You know, in other ways you can hear a song, until he puts his little magic to it, you know it's just a plain song. Martin takes a plain song and give it energy. [Martijn] Whoa, oh my god seeing everything come together. Wild. [Mu
sic playing: Martin Garrix feat. Mike Yung - Dreamer] I texted him like 2 weeks before I was like: "Hey, what do you think about a gospel choir in the song?". He was like: "Love that, sick idea." So we set it up here and the gospel choir came and there was an instant connection. [Eelco] Everybody ready? [Rob] Iedereen weer klaar? Komt ie! [Gospel choir singing] If we believe, if we believe. [Mike] Yeah, cool! [Gospel choir singing] If we believe, if we believe. [Martijn] That sounded amazing I'
m a very happy human being thanks to you guys. [Gospel choir sings, Martijn plays guitar] You got to believe, you got to believe in You got to believe [Mike] You got to You got to believe [Mike] He got to You got to believe [Mike] She got to, he got to believe in [Gospel choir] You got to believe [Mike] Oh yeah, oh yeah [Gospel choir] You got to believe in [Mike] Na na na na na na [Martijn] It's a song about passion, it's a song about hope, it's a song about faith and as long as you got somethin
g to believe in that's where you find the strength, that's what you need. [Mike] Everybody has a dream, so never give up your dream and never give up period you know what I mean. You see people everyday, they go to work and they come home and say they hate their job you know. But the key is find something you love, stick to it and who knows. [Martijn] Mike, it's his story but if even it's reaching your goal in personal life or maybe you wanna do something successful with sports, maybe you wanna
become a DJ or producer. I want people to play that song while they're at home and need motivation. When they need that extra push. Can we do one take, you all together, euphoric, full energy. [Mike] Martin snatched me under the wing like me and Martin known each other for years And that's how it feels now. Like I said, that's my brother from a different mother but that's my brother. [Music playing] Martin Garrix feat. Mike Yung - Dreamer] Martin hears a lot of things that nobody else hears you
know, and what he heard is he heard me and he said: "Hey Mike it's going to be simply amazing.". [Martijn] Amazing day, I live for days like this. Days like this I'll be in my bed I'll not be able to fall asleep because I was so excited and happy. These are the days, these are the moments I live for. And the shows because then I can play the music, but today was crazy! Amazing! [Mike] The dream is the world is getting to hear Mike Yung you know. That's the best feeling in the world. [Music playi
ng Martin Garrix feat. Mike Yung - Dreamer]

@luiza3556

This is why Martin is such a special artist! Because he seeks to create art in its purest form and transmit a message, an energy beyond our skin. Martin, please, never listen to those who tell you your music does not fit within certain stereotypes, it doesnt have to match what everybody else is doing! Don't board the nudity and selfishness train with the others. YOU DO YOU, MARTIN!! 🎊
