The Missed Potential of Flame Princess : Adventure Time Analysis

Time for another Adventure Time Analysis Video, one I've been wanting to do for a while, around the character and development of Flame Princess. Flame Princess is iconic in the series mostly due to her prominent relationship with Finn. However it feels that the audience, and argueably even the show, doesn't care much for her nor the character they presented. It feels like people think Flame Princess was just Finn's ex girlfriend. But I honestly feel Flame Princess is so much more than that, and her concept and growth is truly fascinating and in my opinion, she is one of the most compelling characters the show has. She tackles so much of the shows central themes of morality, maturity, acceptance, and so much more. I think she had the potential to be one of, if not the most, well developed and compelling characters if it felt like the show gave her the proper attention she deserved. I think she might be one of the show's best characters. I know that's a lot to say but I'll prove it to you in this video. Also my Twitter:https://twitter.com/shadyblazeblizz

well time to make another Adventure Time video to save my dying view count am I just going to have to make the first video of every month in Adventure Time analysis actually I'm cool with that you know I legitimately wonder how many of my viewers know this isn't my real Avatar now I associate the month of February with of course love and fiery passion so what better than to cover an Adventure Time character that pretty much embodies that our favorite emotionally unstable fire Elemental Flame Pri
ncess it's funny that pretty much every major Adventure Time character has appeared right in the first season with numerous episodes about them Flame Princess first appeared at the final episode of season 3 and only got a lot of character attention throughout season 4 but surprisingly she's become one of the most iconic characters in the show largely because of her importance to the series and its overworking plots and its character relations most notably with her romantic relationship with Finn
that neverly would end in tragedy people and arguably the show itself treat their relationship like Flame Princess only identity but Flame Princess might legitimately be one of Adventure Time's most interesting and compelling characters I'd argue even rivaling Marceline or Ice King they may even surpass it if the show would actually commit to what it sets up but that's a big claim to make but I'm being serious I think she's a fascinating character and insanely compelling if the show would have
given a chance to let her character grow as much as it could have but let me back this up I'm going to go through all of flame princess's history and character growth and development to prove how much of her potential is wasted first some needed background Finn throughout the early Seasons had a big crush on Princess Bubblegum despite their massive AIDS differ between them that would somehow get even bigger and this was before Princess Bubblegum became the worst person ever and was still a nice
and sweet princess so her attention and Carin would of course build up feelings of love for a very young and naive kid hitting puberty Without Really anyone to help him understand what he's going through however in the season 2 fin fin Al princess bubon was DH to be 13 like Finn was as the two are finally able to get into a relationship with P wanting one just as much as fin they have an excitable Young Love relationship where as much as as them having fun though it's kind of hard to see since i
t barely existed almost immediately when the relationship is being developed did the Earl of Lemongrab who might get is on video actually take over the kingdom and she's too young and forces PB to turn back to an adult even though she loves being young and carefree and especially doesn't want to lose her relationship with Finn but has to for the good of her kingdom and that really affected Finn to have everything he wanted with the girl of his dreams just have F take it away does a number an imp
ressible kid with no real guidance a lot of the episodes of this season he's trying to gravel with it and trying to get her to still like him back when it just can't work out anymore so it really makes the episode I'm talking about make much more sense it all culminates in the season 3 finale incendium where Princess Bubblegum is making rain rockets at the tree house and then says this a thanks puppy okay am I the only one who thinks that's insanely weird as his emotions get the better of him Fi
nn tries to snuggle I guess as PB is weared out and just awkwardly leaves and this is pretty much the final straw for him as he has a complete emotional breakdown so he can't control his emotions and being rejected again and again and yeah for someone that young and went through what he's been through it's understandable love just won't work out the way you want to Jake can't stand Finn being this emotionally distraught and like the big bro he is goes have to find him a princess his age he can b
e with on the way he meets flambo a character I really love despite his virtually non-existent screen time it's definitely because of his voice and personality yeah it's me bet you thought it was a Dame on account of my girlish screaming also PE character design flambo of course takes us to the fire Kingdom after using a spell to give him munity to fire to woo the prin of the Fire Kingdom but they had to get acceptance from the flame King voiced by by Keith David in his amazing voice actually wa
it come to think of it are Flame Princess and LSP the only actual princesses in the series since they're the only two girls that their fathers currently ruining their Kingdom huh but Jake has to present him with three gifts which he doesn't have any first is a bottle of water which goes about as well as you think then a song which is a reprise of Finn's emotional heartbreak song from earlier now we were to be a serenate The Flame Princess and also funny how this line was in the original like a b
eautiful treasure I want to open your chest but got changed because it was way too easy to make an inuendo besides the newer verse is infinitely funnier you're rad I really want to kiss you right in front of your dad playing princess is super into it but Flint King hates it as Jake is desperate to find another thing to help him which is another great scene it's your favorite thing in the world a koala bear eucalyptus I don't like koalas anymore but then in a scene that honestly confused the hell
out of me he shape shifts into Finn getting annoyed at himself and then start to strangle and seemingly kill him and flank King is all in for it so like did he think flank king would like it if Finn murdered him or was all this somehow unintentional and Jake just tried to kill himself I had no idea flame King offers flame PR by releasing her out of the jar but then reveals he actually an evil destructive force and soon we see her volatile nature as runs for his life now unleashing her and follo
ws him home F's flame FR is burning down their house and his bubble gum memorabilia and tries to attack her as she accidentally releases bubble gun's rain Rockets depowering her seeing her normally something Sparks inside a fin where he rescues her and says he likes her as she's Furious and escapes dude I think I have a crush and at the way 2 months as a kid to see where it would go felt so much longer but ironically despite it being Flame Princess his first appearance he's not really the focus
and only gets major scen time in the last minute the episode primarily focuses on Fin's emotional distress and Jak tr get the Flame King's approval hell we know more about flame King than Flame Princess at this point being an unamused stiring ruler who's apathetic to everything but killing people who doesn't like Flame Princess was pretty much a bait and switch As She's treated as a dam Soul who needs wooing and saving want to Blindside you a villain she's evil in an Unstoppable force of nature
it's surprising that to see Adventure Time have an evil princess character well openly evil as fire she's shown to be volatile aggressive and brutal but it really shows a softer side sensitive girl behind the fiery anger which of course would pay off in the next episode and the season 4 opening hot to the touch it starts out just after incendium with Finn want to know more about Flame Princess and fulfilling his Crush as Jake Rel lightling goes and helps him as he convinced she's is pure evil bu
t Finn is convinced there's a sensitive soul under her facade here we see flame princess's first interaction alone just sitting and trying to get to know the outside world both alerted and Afraid by it Flame Princess is like an actual baby having no knowledge about anything around her only acting by what she feels even Finn sees that in her he tries to help her and proclaims his love to her which does cause a reaction in her making her fires a passion grows stronger but of course Finn's human an
d fire freaking hurts but apparently all her fire is connected to her as it hurts when he puts it out kind of weird that this plot Point never comes back in later episodes Flame Princess starts to resent fin since all he's been doing is hurting her as she fle as they chase Flame Princess ambushes them no even she says it I am ambushing you kind of funny Finn still tries complimenting her making her even more emotionally disturbed Finn tries again to Proclaim his love to her causing flame prcess
to calm down and grow brighter but she soon grows resentment thinking he's toying with them and hurting them physically and emotionally and she gives her perspective that must be your purpose but Fire's purpose is to burn I'll get to that later she goes to take over the nearby Goblin Kingdom by Forest as jines Finn they'll need the fighter despite his love for her as he go to the Treehouse to make firefighting suits and then the biggest surprise of the episode holy crap nepar is back he hasn't b
een here for like almost three seasons it's funny that it brings up like where the hell was he this whole time time he just never acknowledged again despite the entire point of the episode is about him being Finn's creation and son like it makes no s to just ignore him after that apparently they just forgot him in hide and seek like wow my nether being abused compilation is very apt but Finn ignores his crimes against his son and ask him to help make robot suits and luckily nept has a near perfe
ct knowledge of Robotics and Engineering to make some and even Flame Princess can't compete with the amount of fire his out of nowhere rapid working for the master preventing a disaster building giant robots from aluminum and plaster and it makes surprisingly awesome firefighting meca suits with flight capabilities like dude nepar you're amazing he did this in a rush he could make them full on giant mechs bro par up with banana man they'd be unstoppable why does this episode not exist but Flame
Princess is currently Burning Down The Goblin Kingdom and like wow I really should have seen gummy the Goblin and Whisper Dan like it least like camo doesn't make much sense B tries to talk FP down but she's not having it but can't destroy the mech suits however like before they can't put out the fire without directly hurting Flame Princess NEP though goes straight for violence as he wants to kill her must be some of that Ice King still in there and also poison but Finn forces him away it makes
flame PR go ballistic and into her fire Colossus form I'll call it on a rampage even though she's crying on the inside and also tears spin up as he tears up nepar good God is he okay V Tor say he can't fight her but can't let her destroy the city causing her to completely break down not true creator you haven't failed nepar even if everyone Burns you'll still have me Creator God NEPA you are just the best you were done so dirty breaks down again he can have bubble gum and when given another chan
ce by the universe fake deals him the worst hand unable to control his emotions he cries but it changes flame princess's fire as seeing him cry fascinates her and calms her down in honestly a brilliant idea in execution she considers Finn to be a water Elemental since he creates water that they are inherent opposites it makes her recontextualize everything in the past and realizes by Nature they can't be together since they'll hurt each other but F can't give up on her can't we try you would def
y nature for me God P wishes it was this good she wishes as goodbye as they live believe what an episode and yeah Flame Princess was absolutely fascinating in this episode and maybe the best she's gotten she's gone through so many emotions and arcs it's hard to really talk about it Flame Princess is shown to be a character really struggling with themselves and the world not knowing basically anything about it and only relying on their base instincts as an insanely powerful fire Elemental and lik
ely insane after isolation in the lamp she can't help but to do what fire does burn everything in sight but even then then her innate curiosity and innocence shines through wanting to understand more of the world and putting aside our base instincts I feel like it's that innocence behind the v's facade is what fin saw in her in the brief moments we see in their first interactions someone his age he feels any attraction to and someone he can help and connect with and Flame Princess feels that too
as Finn is probably the only person she's met who's actually nice to her it makes her feel good but of course they drastically different being and naivity to the true world makes her emotionally distressed and can only continue going off what she feels is right it's only after she recontextualizes and reanalyzes what Finn is and what he's been trying to do does she realize not only his Devotion to her but the prove that her mindset doesn't have to be so black and white and that's so insanely co
mpelling for this show that never really done up before except arguably with Holly Dolly Secrets it makes flame PR such an interesting and fascinating character this idea of trying to understand her own emotions and moving pastor and destructive nature takes up a good portion of her characterization but we see more about how the relationship builds in her next appearance burning low burning low weirdly already starts out with Finn and Flame prises on very good terms now in a legitimate relations
hip which how did this happen they were unsure about where to go with the relationship at the end of H to the touch but now it feels like at least a week or something has gone past it kind of feels like we missed an episode here but it starts out with Finn facing building flame prons a new flame house and what seems to be the marauder Village I guess I didn't survive Hudson well at least that mountain would be happy to see Finn and Flame Princess being cute and yeah we do get to see a bit more o
f her nature now that she's calmed down and spends Time with Finn she has a very excitable youthful energy and a love for things silly being very similar to Finn in this regard which could be the reason to how well they hit it off with each other they're really adorable relationship even at the problem her being literally fire is still acknowledged but they do have a solution to turn fin into a burrito for a hug as Finn and Jake leave Finn asks Jake for relationship advice as Jake TR to tells hi
m to just let things stay their natural path of course lean to this iconic scene what about Tier 15 stay away from that do not do Tier 15 how would that even work I mean she's made a fire I mean I guess they use flame spell okay this is going too far but of course it leads a PB casually breaking and entering and stealing from the two leading to the most important part of every Adventure Time video I've ever done SL lering PB though I did forget to mention the PB video that even Jake has had it w
ith her okay princess you need to stop breaking in here he's getting aware be very afraid but Jake spills that Finn is dating Flame Princess which for some reason makes her really distressed it's framed as romantic drama with her distress that Finn loves Flame Princess instead of her PB tries to explain to Finn and Jake what's going on but they either ditch or ignore her as she tries to make it clear that they shouldn't see each other but Jake just thinks she's extremely jealous but this also ma
kes Finn very annoyed when PB does take initiative to talk directly to Finn he actually goes off on PB as she tells them they need to break up think it's just more emotional manipulation he Adit his crush on her and the pain it caused him that she ignores it and now that he's moved on she's trying to force him back it's also kind of amazing the one time he goes off on her PB doesn't explain what's going on the fin inste it goes to Jake after he does the most iconic thing in all of Television bak
ing pancakes making bacon pancakes take some bacon and I'll put it in a pancake as Jake also goes off on PB for trying to ruin Finn's relationship and toying with his emotions and I got to say I do really appreciate that this Frame of Jake angrily yelling at PB became a meme it's really cathartic and while it's soon reveal to be a massive misunderstanding they are kind of right in a way like they did have a relationship where she got de that suddenly came to an end despite her clearly having fee
lings for him and she just flat out ignores that completely and never acknowledges her relationship with Finn which is the biggest case for his emotional distress in the entire previous season they're kind of right you have been emly manipulating him but P finally speaks directly of what she's been trying to say and that Flame Princess is inherently dangerous and unstable and kissing her could cause her powers to heighten as she'll get so hot she'll burn through the core of the earth okay wow ju
st droing that out of nowhere I mean I guess if anyone is powerful enough and unstable enough it will be Flame Princess also we get this L bomb dropped why do you think I had her father keep her locked up which okay wow that's a lot for multiple reasons but the episode doesn't have time for that as Jake rushes to stop them from kissing but it's too late as she just immediately becomes a laser and drills down to the Earth and Finn without a second thought jumps after them forcing Jake to block th
e hole but PB says this is good is if they block the oxygen that that means they could stop her from reaching the core she also says she'll go out with I don't know if that means she'll be depowered or die PB is concerningly okay with that Finn reaches Flame Princess who's probably dying and low on oxygen himself without a second thought gives mouth to mouth with another kiss burning his mouth to keep her alive and Jakob eventually pulls them back out and God Finn that's brutal but even though t
hey can't share their affection directly they still find their own way to as they walk off together wow what an episode it pretty much cements Finn and Flame Princess relationship also gets rid of any love triangle between them and PB which thank God we don't need another Regular Show unfortunately Flame Princess doesn't get too much development on her side here since the plot is mostly about Finn trying to reach the next level with her and PB trying to stop it but we do get to see what become o
f our core characteristics being just as much as a playfully loving youth as fin is see has so much Wonder to the world and her personality is super infectious as well her and F work off each other so well and it's super cute despite their physical problems Finn dedicates so much to her it's not funny and especially at the end where he sees she's in danger without a second thought he jumps in after her and saved her life while very much risking his own to give her a kiss of life and despite all
of that they still continue their relationship without question it's really nice to see it really shows how strong their commitment to each other is which makes what happens eventually even harder I also kind of wish the entire episode was this a massive misunderstanding that just went on way too long but to be fair we got some amazing moments after it Jake you're president now oh my gosh her next appearance is ignition point which doesn't have too much flame presence in it but it's important no
netheless it starts out with Finn and Jake playing around Flame Princess as she uses her powers but it's also sad because she forgot her sending candle she really wants but she left it in her castle but she doesn't want to go since she's mad at her father for imprisoning her in that Lantern though technically that was pb's fault but that's not going to be elaborated upon until later it also makes her briefly en ra with this really scary until Finn and jig agree to go and luckily flambo is nearby
to help with flame Shield so they go to the fire Kingdom sneak to Flame princess's room wait she has a room wasn't she in prison in the lantern her whole life I guess it seems more like a holding cell but still weird but then Fin and Jake over here a plot by a hissing guy and a dude with untied shoes to assassinate the flame king and the dud will have to stop stop it so most of the episode is them sneaking around and trying to find who's behind it it does have a few funny moments I don't have a
voice there's a snake on your shoulder what but they decided to pull a hamlet or something and make a play mimicking the conspirators plan to rat them out in the audience but flame King considers it treason and orders them executed conveniently the executioners were the conspirators as SPN exposes them revealing them to be Flame King's nephew and it's revealed they want revenge since flank king killed their father to get the throne wow this really is Hamlet also flank King says that every fire
person is evil which seriously doesn't make sense but I'll get to that later Finn asks his Flame Princess is evil which he confirms but Finn also wonders if it's possible that someone could convince it to be good which he thinks might be possible which Finn is happy about at that night they lovingly return her candles in a sweet scene but flame King somehow appears to whisper evil in her sleep now unfortunately Flame Princess doesn't have much to do here but does reinforce the most important asp
ect of her character her trying to get past her nature and become a good person it's a thing that really challenges the show's black and white morality especially Finn's sense of it and reinforces his devotion The Flame Princess to make her a better person who's worth loving I'd argue it's seriously the biggest strength of the relationship it's a genuinely compelling interesting Journey but that really comes in the season 5 episode vault of Bones it starts out with the two being adorably silly b
ut the flame King tries to whisper sweet nothings of evil in her ear she admits he's been doing it a lot trying to reinforce her to be evil and makes her upset Finn tries to comfort her not only telling her that she's not evil but invites her to a Dungeon adventure to get her mind off of it Flay princess shows off some cool new abilities and my God she looks adorable in that outfit and cut also this joke I love this for me will you oh sure uh do we we need a torch I'm sort of made of fire oh Fin
n tries to teach her the ways of the dungeon interrogating and intimidating enemies and finding puzzles and keys for loot even if Flame Princess just wants to I guess just Leroy Jenkin it and go win all guns of Blazing as Finn is enjoying the adventure and giving her advice Flame Princess admits he's really not having fun and doesn't want to do it his way as Finn understands it let her takes over the adventure and Flame Princess of course just goes in shooting fireballs and decimating all the mo
nsters in The Dungeons and giving it to a destructive nature and relishing it it makes Finn very worried M for skeleton chainsaw man comes and kidnaps finin as flame PR is consumed by her destructive raage and attacks them as bin cries out in beer but luckily Flame Princess holds back and it says the intimidation pintar in the beginning to win and freeze him he's glad she didn't burn him alive as she reassures him that she'd never do that to her boyfriend as they leave cessi enjoyed it clearing
her head but she forgot how good it feels to destroy stuff Finn's concerned but she clarifies only evil stuff how Finn deals with it but he's still a little worried yeah some red flies are showing up this episode is really important not only because it gives us so much more screen time of Flame Princess but it also gives us much more insight on the established struggles we haven't seen directly since ha of the touch Flame Princess is directly struggling with her nature being pulled by both her f
ather and Finn Finn tries to help her in the way he knows best and tries to teach her his way but it's clear it's not working for her as a fire Elemental her urge is to destroy any obstacle in her path and Rel the satisfaction of violence something that is inherently evil but despite that with Finn's help she is able to hold herself back and even says she just trying to destroy evil but at the same time it's clear she's falling back into her old nature where it's even making B worried and can ca
use a potential Rift in their relationship for the big one there there are a few things left first is Princess potluck where Flame Princess is mysteriously absent despite PB inviting pretty much every princess how you invited Ice King over her what's the deal very suspicious PB there's also Jake suit where at their fin uses Jake in the Jake suit Jake makes a bet with f so he can pil it and put him through similar trouble which has him invited to dinner with flame princes and her stereotypical ju
dgmental relatives and Jake does this to humiliate them in front of them including one guy who I'm sure will never appear again or at the very least I wish this is a nightmare come true for me sister of course Flame Princess is appalled by this when she finds out what's going on she's surprisingly okay with it even encourages F not to give up which like wow great subversion also does show more of her youthful Carefree nature having the same type of immaturity as Finn does but it is time for the
episode maybe the most controversial from Frost in fire Finn and FP are together just having fun enjoying each other but Ice King flies by and starts talking some smack with pisses Flame Princess off as he easily beats him up and send him packing which really impresses Finn that night Finn has uh I hate to say it a wet dream of flame princess's fire making him feel good he thinks it's inspired by Flame Princess beating up Ice King and he wants to redo it again if this is giving you red flags it
should so they have a pck in the ice cam to a confusion as Ice King passes by mining his own biz but Finn Li and says that he's insulting them so she's goed to attack him as he has no idea what's going on and as they fight Ice King really doesn't want to however This Time Ice King gets the upper hand in his kingdom and is able to surprisingly subdue and hurt her and fin is more preoccupied with getting more wet dreams than her safety he gets everything ready but then dreams of Ice King which act
ively hurts him also the cosmic Al is there and once turn in the first Dream which if you know makes this a prophecy which Jay convinces him that they need to go get them to fight again to finish the prophecy as Finn writes frankly hurtful and manipulative messages to each of them exploiting his own knowledge of them especially the flame PR calling back to Sentimental candles and the fact that they can't kiss with these letters the two are pushed into a brutal rage and the two colliding practica
lly an anime brawl blame princess turn to a fire Colossus form as Ice King KES command of his entire cast as they engage in a Kaiju fight that decimates the kingdom and even F realizes he went too far he gets knocked unconscious with his once Pleasant dream growing brutal and weird with the cosmic Al just said blw it then tries to rescue Ice King and Gunther and stop flame princess's rage he admits all the Terrible Things he's done and emotionally manipulating her he tries to explain but Flame P
rincess is too upset at him to hear she realized not only did he lie to her but also used her personal insecurity ities and problems to do so she can't believe the closest person to her would treat her in that way and the episode ends with her leaving you blew it indeed you blew it man yeah this episode is pretty Infamous mostly because it caused the breakup between finlynn and Flame Princess but a lot of people really hate the way Finn acted and think it's super out of character and yeah I'd ag
ree especially analyzing the relationship not only does he act out of line betraying his own hero code and act causing fights and manipulating people but Finn has been nothing but dedicated and suppor of a Flame Princess the entire relationship was built on his emotional support and help through her internal struggles and would never purposely hurt her but here he pretty much does and the only possible justification is this rampant teenage hormones because he wanted wet dreams yeah pretty bad in
that regard though Jake did push him to make that final letter because of the prophecy which just kind of feels forced but also weird as it's never acknowledged it was partially his fault like seriously but another is please notice this was never established as an issue with their relationship they have been building up constantly the incompatibility between the two not only physically but also by their Natures Flame Princess has been resisting the urge to be evil and frod has been unsure if sh
e can really do that the flags were there but that wasn't the reason the reason came right the hell out of no where if maybe it was because of that it might go over well but this feels very forced and no wonder why people hate it so much I don't even know why they did it it's not like their relationship was in some standstill they were making compelling and still had so much potential but they just ended it for whatever reason but this is where we are now so we have to deal with it we soon get a
n answer on the next episode earth and water Finn is in a depression of course after losing his girlfriend and iing Liz with them now since well he's the reason he's homeless blame princess is also struggling with herself and her emotional turmoil and her boyfriend betraying her she wonders why people even have secrets and why everyone keeps lying Even in our own kingdom but it's not long before PB shows up doing her favorite pastime of violating people's rights spying on a girl going through a
depression and studying her but surprisingly she did have a good reason this time as she's worried that since her powers are linked to our emotions she can hopefully calculate a way to isolate what's causing it and help her stop being such a threat and Flame Princess agrees if it can help her stop feeling this way so they go to her testing facility where they're going to conduct a test but she gets called away because the plot demands it and she does possibly the stupidest thing she can do and l
et cinnamon bun take control aka the guy whose entire existence is being stupid and messing up so he does and starts a conversation with her and takes her out to invite her to his home Buble gum is bad she is don't worry you're going to see her bad soon enough they start to hit it off very well but Sim bun brings out that PB was responsible for locking her up leading to a flashback we see the flame King being told that his daughter will be far more powerful than him so he lets you lose in the wi
lderness trying to execute her and my God she is adorable but it's not all for Pb sees the Carnes unknowingly causing as he goes to Flame King re admits he intensely exiled them PB doesn't really care and Dem man they find some way to contain her or she will and he does by sealing them WI a lantern for 14 years years and now she realized PB effectively ruined her life and never told her luckily cinnamon bun is there to make her feel better as she appreciates his honesty and thinks just go back t
o the fire Kingdom but Finn and PB finds she's gone and went to the fire Kingdom as PB proves just how callous a person she is however when they do they see Flame Princess has taken up the throne as a pretty freaking sick design now she and Cinema bun made a coup and overthrew her father now stuck in the lantern himself she is no chain in the Fire King have complete honesty and no deception she also tells out everything horrible her dad did PB also demands cin go back but he now refuses have a p
roper friend in a place in the Fire Kingdom Finn apologizes for what he did and Flame Princess surprisingly accepts it but acknowledges that they can never be in a relationship again and her places in the Fire Kingdom as new ruler but still accepts them as friends only if he's honest to her and that's it while it is nice the episode does finally get some pay off to the arc and resolve the tensions but it also feels very rushed especially with Flame Princess Flame Princess is still new to the wor
ld in grappling with her emotions now deal with the person she trusts as the most betraying her and causing her a mess of emotions PB offers the help mostly for self- serving reasons as she does not care for flame prin as a person but soon finds out that she was using her even worse cinnamon bun though gave her what she needed a friendly person who cared about her feelings and someone who just can't actually lied to her it's actually the best news of cin and Bun through the series since he's not
hing but heart in this case and is an unlikely Ally for her in her time of need but it ends with practically her entire Arc resolved see had an entire offscreen Epiphany and Co Kingdom overthrew her dad and imprisoned him as revenge for all he did and now seems to remake the Fire Kingdom in a much more positive way but it doesn't feel like we got that Journey we just arrived at the destination and while it's a good destination it doesn't really show much of her character growth and struggles and
there's so much she went through but this is the new status quo now and we got to see where this goes Red Throne starts out with Flame Princess taking an active role in her kingdom and actively helping her inhabitants with their issues showing how good of a ruler she is in the Flame King's place but soon Don John a powerful sorcerer arrives and hypnotizes the entire King to do his bidding and releases the flame King and Flame Princess was poisoned by her handmaid so so she's depowered flame Kin
g made a deal with Don John to free him and take back his kingdom in exchange for a seed of power and to marry his daughter before they can do anything cinnamon bun righteously saves her and escapes she wants to stay and fight for her kingdom but cinnamon bun says they need to get allies the think of Princess Bubblegum but Princess Bubblegum nah I don't trust her yeah she's devious oh my God finally some acknowledgement but they reluctantly decide on Finn as the best chance Finn of course agrees
but FP makes it clear that this doesn't mean they're back together also s and Bun tells wolf to fly it's hilarious Finn tries to warm up to her and Edge his way back to their relationship but Simon bun isn't having any of his BS Simon bun throughout the episode shows a surprising amount of confidence and initiative far remov from his goofy screw-up self long ago even formulating a plan of action though Finn is still trying to weasel his way back to Flame Princess even in his sensitive situation
even actively screwing out the plan which of course as the guards are hypnotized he realizes he can't fight back and get captured as s has to Duke it out with the others and wow Simmon butn has really stepped out his game and got the key Don John tries to gloat about his marriage but FP is having none of that even if Finn is still kind of being the worst yeah it's because you secretly still have feelings for me no he confronts flank King about her refusal and going back on the plan which causes
them to get into a big fist fight they get really to where CB is able to free them while they're distracted cinabun also gets a face full of Fire by the guards before flame King defeats Don John bringing the civilians from his curse however the fire scene to well fully bake Simon bun giving him a new sense of confidence and initiative as he rallies the citizens against the flame keing as they imprison him and Don John in the lantern but not before however flame King says Flame Princess is too s
oft of a ruler for the Fire Kingdom causing some doubts among her people people but Simon bun defends her and makes a huge speech that while she may not be a ruthless leader she is strong willed and strong-hearted that it inspired him so much that he became a better man and swiss his undying loyalty as her Knight and finally Ends by saying he loves her and it moves the entire Kingdom to her side as even Finn can't believe that cinnamon but of all characters is showing him up what a g yeah what c
an you say about this episode it's cement flame princess's status ruing her Kingdom and her character growth proving to everyone how strong and determined of a character she became and got the entirety of the Fire Kingdom by her side for a devotion and of course the inspiring words of cinnamon bun and speaking of which man what a guy how did this show turn to a goofball into a strong compelling character in such a short amount of time he's the real MVP of the episode and a worthy Ally even showi
ng up fin who was just kind of awful in this episode but it also feels like Flame Princess the story kind of ended where do you go from here a lot of the previous conflicts have been ignored are just already been accomplished so what did they do now well I got one bad answer it's time what you've all been waiting for to talk about my most hated and what I consider to be Adventure Time's worst episode The Cooler I already talked about the episode extensively in my princess bubble gum Problem vide
o which you should really see especially my hatred of PB doesn't seem justified to you to sum up the fire kingdom is going through a cataclysm as it sces mysteriously cooling which is weakening and killing the citizens reluctantly Flame Princess asked Princess Bubblegum for help who conv vises her to show the Chamber of the fire Giants the most important and sacred objects of the Fire Kingdom culture and the key to revitalizing the kingdom in case of catastrophe but PB starts sabotaging and dest
roying them attacking Flame Princess and guarding her to G give into her anger and Destroy them for her until they reach a standstill where PB admits she caused the cooling purely to sabotage the Giants so their power can never be used against her but he says he's not a bad person doesn't apologize at all and Flame prin still forgives them as they somehow get closer and become friends wow even summarizing that makes want to vomit also flame Princess's real name is shown to be Phoebe which is wei
rd like what's Flame King's real name David I already made my thoughts on the episode extensively clear but it's somehow even worse now through the lens of flame princess's character this is some of the biggest character assassination I've ever seen truth is PB does not respect Flame Princess at all not as a living person or even just a living thing she is either a threat or an experiment to exploit her evil dad will lock her up again and if she's imprisoned I won't be able to complete my tests
and I'll have wasted my precious time she imprisoned a baby for 14 years and thought nothing of it despite all of her incredibly strong growth PB doesn't acknowledge it at all even when she saw firsthand her new determination to make the kingdom a better place she still considers her a Mindless monster who's not even worth talking to and it's best just still ride her out of the equation why can't you just trust me cuz you're a dingdong and despite the constant [ __ ] that comes out of her pretty
pink mouth she is a bad person it's you you are a bad person Hell she's a terrible person and Flame Princess who has constantly struggled with herself and her nature who took that torment to become a better and wiser person who swore to make sure that no one in her kingdom had to go what she went through and just have the person she thought she could trust stab him in the back and use her she just lets it happen again the most volatile vengeful determined character just had the villain of her e
ntire life lie betray attack and sabotage her in everything she cares about and she just lets it happen and she never apologizes or show an ounce of remorse all we get is you are a bad person I'm not a bad person and suddenly they're friends this is awful this is some of the worst writing I've seen this is one of the worst episodes I've seen and I've read your comments and I've still not seen a single one that changed my mind you can say she's morally gray even though the show never actually tre
ats her like that that but let me ask if some of her being morally great excuses any and all consequences because you know only the best writing in basic causing effect and all actual judgment must be on the viewer then how is it good that it ruins other characters who aren't morally gray how is it good that fin the righteous hero enables genocide and willingly sends an innocent man to his death without a second thought how is it good that a V full girl who had literally everything in her life d
estroyed and threatened gladly accepts it with a smile maybe this is incredibly flinty justification for what's actually known as terrible character writing and if she is supposed to be morally gray then please tell me as the audience who's supposed to give judgment why should I give a [ __ ] when the entire final season is our kingdom being threatened which she just portray as the objective good guy everyone follows why shouldn't I want goball to kill her and take our kingdom but the show makes
it clear I'm not supposed to she is constantly treated as the good person as everyone should follow despite constantly being horrible every amount of morally graininess is just made up to justify a terrible character's actions because she's cute and silly and then there's Flint a oneoff character with only two lines and my judgmental a and Uncle noral stop Whispering now is the literal only justification of bub gum's actions is out of nowhere he wants to blow up the Candy Kingdom just because a
nd and you can't do that in a plot you're supposed to take seriously he is not a character he is a forced plot device I can't believe I have to say this but practically introducing a character with a completely unjustified Vendetta just because to justify a character's action and a plot you're supposed to take seriously is bad writing it's like if Colonel candy corn something really wanted princess Bubba to assassinate Raggedy Princess because it would be so cool does that sound incredibly stupi
d and out of nowhere well this is the reality we're in and hell at least he was a semi- established character Fint only had two lines and was practically a oneoff character and he doesn't appear or is even mentioned or acknowledged again unless you want to tell me that this what are you doing in front of my family was actually code for I want to commit genocide on the Candy Kingdom well if there's one person who would know it's a code oh you called the right person I know a lot about codes no if
you're going to do this you got to give an established reason for this and yeah I've read the other comments well the Fire Kingdom was always an established threat they're evil and she's defenseless that's complete BS the Fire Kingdom has never once had any amount of hostility to the Candy Kingdom at all PB even marched out the flank King's face and the man he imprisoned his daughter or she will and he was fine with it he didn't do anything to her and that's literally it there has never been an
ounce of hostility towards them I think the Slime kingdom was established to be more of a threat to our kingdom than the Fire Kingdom and yeah the flame King said everyone was evil but they're not they act exactly like everyone else in the show the only evil thing they do is flame King killing his brother to get the throne that's it yeah flame King said they were all evil which doesn't even make sense because if you haven't noticed flambo is not evil well okay kind of an elemental but he was po
ssessed and wait he never showed up again my God that fin actually kill him po guy he doesn't deserve that it's really cute PB how you think the fire Giants are dangerous when you have numerous 50ft tall laser spewing Gumball colosi at your beck and call and just to remind you what one of these things can do not to mention your ungodly resources and Technology they should be afraid of you you're clearly a paranoid Megalo Maniac who has no idea what boundaries are let's not forget you can easily
be deposed at any time and ID like king of oo has control of all of that you are an immense hypocrite and PB doesn't end with any actual respect of Flame Princess she only sets on her security but scam showed she's still spying on people anyway so she didn't even learn a lesson she really just has absolutely no character development literally the title card is the best part of this episode episode everything is so terrible and it's one of the worst TV episodes I've ever seen it ruins PB and it e
specially ruined Flame Princess no consequences whatsoever hey fing cake season 2 here's an idea make a universe re actually commit to this instead of doing everything you can to ignore it but after that frankly garbage we get a small bit in the episode bun bun cinnamon bun returns to the Candy Kingdom where PB thinks CB is lonely in the Fire Kingdom you a cinnamon Bun's DNA to make a small clone eff like a niece for him to be with kind of feel this is something you shouldn't just drop on some b
ut this is PB we're talking about Flame Princess lets the man after a thorough Security check turn around she's clean come on girl you have all people to know better than this Finn and her also get to know each other better in more casual conversation no longer doing whatever the hell he was doing in Red Throne and she says she's been taking a freestyle rap which man I sure up that one consume her entire character from this point forward bun bun also proceeds to humiliate cinnamon bun destroy Fi
re Kingdom property and then goes and releases flame King from his imprisonment you know it would be a stress to say that PB intentionally made bun bun to destroy the Fire Kingdom as a backup plan this is a huge coincidence however flakey can only run up an army of chipmunks Asing his own ineptitude and status with bun bun they convince him to give up on the Fire Kingdom and S make his own King Chipmunks as bum agrees to stay as they become friends bun tells Flame Princess but she thinks of how
she was treated being stuck in a lantern and since he loves small animals maybe could make him a better person so this episode doesn't have too much but it s see more F in Flame Princess relationship and acceptance as well as Flame Princess having second thoughts about how she resigned her father to her old fate as she actively tries to help him it's surprising that flame King was given some proper insight and slight character development and it's actually kind of compelling and later in musical
we see FP did start rapping with nepar NE see him again and utilizing his rap skills kind of weird since they're only interaction prior with him trying to murder her but it's not that they made up and even better to see someone who doesn't treat him like garbage I still know why they made her a rapper but I guess it's because she spits fire he what a nice payoff my's FP and I to with and I'm SP straight however Flame Princess gets primary plot attention in the elemental Saga which revealed that
she is the current Universal Elemental Avatar the fire element which could explain why she was so ungodly powerful even at Birth and during patience's Elemental burst that covered U and Elemental regions Flame Princess ruled over a quarter of oo with the current form being that of a vicious Dragon the elemental similation has changed everyone into a hyper aggressive flaming warrior in Eternal combat even why it is almost threatening also cinnamon butn is okay since flame seal protected him from
it but he does absolutely nothing honestly he's completely wasted in this minseries especially since he's actually cool now and Flame Princess ironically has become consumed by the anger that was once the sole part of her before Finn helped her through it making one of the few Elemental assimilations that correlate with the prior characterization even if it turns the fire came into basically every social media platform this place is a toxic aggro Macho escape this place is great as much as Finn
tries to reason with her she's too consumed by the elemental rage and Finn himself eventually gives into the realm's anger and violence becom a fire Elemental himself as they turn their sight to destroy the candy element you know when I said I wanted flee princess the W's war against the Candy Kingdom I didn't mean like this but LSP through literally the only time she took initiative in this series manes to turn F back to normal by reminding of his true self and memories but then Elemental PB u
nleashes her true power and assimilates all the fire Kingdom's inhabitants to become candy Elemental and someh even converts Flame Princess into one what how is that possible how powerful is she and how does she single-handedly overthrow the universal Elemental balance that is terrifying also wow even here PB can help at her Flame Princess it's amazing but it doesn't matter since soon LSP is able to reverse the entire Elemental assimilation and the one time she's actually important in the series
also am I the only one who really wants to know what element Huntress wizard got assimilated to though Flame Princess didn't quite have much character development it's still awesome to see her involved in the main story arc but unfortunately it's pretty much the last time the final Flame Princess episode is season 10's son of rap bear and while it's not as pointless as Ring of Fire it does feel super out of place in the last season so Flame Princess is showing out for moves in a rapping party b
ut Toronto king of 's sidekick trick her into signing a contract that would give him the Fire Kingdom if he l a rap battle against son of rap bear which how who doesn't have a centralized government Who the hell's going to officiate this and what I have a contract okay I'm an insanely powerful Elemental with an army there is literally nothing you can do to honor this whatsoever just take it and kick his ass is it because he is a bad person and that means you can't retaliate so yeah the stakes he
re are pretty forest and non-existent and so that a rap hobby has pretty much taken up all her character but Flame Princess worries that she doesn't have enough life experience to rap about and Finn helps him in a rap montage and uh what well I guess not to imagine this anymore for a second I thought the princess was farting the F princess still does have enough confidence but gets the idea to get some dry from her family no not these puke stains I want to forget they exist the two show we actua
lly goes to her father herself as the chipm kingdom seems to have improved a fair deal and Flame King surprisingly a lot nicer both want to bury the hatchet and become a real family again but Flame Princess is very upset flinking refuses to acknowledge what he did to her as she leaves then the rap battle has her starting to lose until flame King shows back up and loudly announces his lack of faith in her but this finally gives flame prin the fire to continue going off at him and finally putting
son of rapir in his place and even flame King gives Flame Princess some respect saying that she's not bad and yeah well this episode has some good things about flame princess's characterization primarily with her trying to get back at connection with her father it really doesn't do much to her as a character her final episode has basically no acknowledgement of her character struggles throughout the majority of her appearance es know her real growth throughout only really focusing on the rap bot
and so Conn nexted to her father it's really disappointing because I feel this was the last chance to really build and pay it off before the ending of the show again the rap part of her is pretty much encompassed her entire character by now even in the finale she doesn't get to do much we see she sides with Princess Bubblegum which yeah the fakest ever it's ironic in all Gumball's loser Brigade Flame Princess has the most right to be on his side since bubblegum ruined her entire life multiple t
imes and never apologized nor shown any onscreen respect for her and yet here she is fighting for her life on the side of the person who would have her killed the first chance he got again horrible bubblegum is really the definition of a Karma Houdini and while Flame Princess does have some bright moments fting off gulb she has basically nothing here and even her final appearance in the ending mon is her again with her rapping career and she hasn't appeared at all in distant lands which come on
you get Perman Butler special but not her and she didn't appear at all in F and cake besid from her genderb counterpart so yeah that's all we got from her I legitimately feel Flame Princess is Adventure Time's most underrated and underused character I think that she is one of the most interesting and compelling characters we've seen during the show's chorus her existence tackles so much of Avenger time's themes of Good and Evil Redemption maturity and more play Princess brings a character who wh
o at Birth wasn't loved and imprisoned for all their life by an immense power she can't control and how warped and horrible her mindset became only relying on Primal instinct is all she's ever known a being perceived as pure evil because they never knew anything else and being finally released caused her to be incredibly volatile not knowing how to handle her own emotions or power and yet Vince saw the innocence in her of a girl who really didn't want to be a distract the force of Nature and is
curious about the world of rap her and through his help did she finally accept that she be more than the power for Destruction and learn to live love and be a force of good and give honestly a really sweet and adorable relationship we see both commitment to each other despite all the things stopping them from being physically together I'd say it's Finn's best relationship and it really deserved far more exploration and attention than it got it just suddenly ended without any real buildup un leas
t the reasoning wasn't built up and it was so sudden and jarring it's unfortunate that after it felt this show didn't care much for her her character resolution just felt like it was speedrun with her immediately taking responsibility and the throne off screen and then show her true will to make her kingdom far better than what it was under her evil father and while it is a compelling ending there wasn't a satisfying journey to accomplish that and it just feels like where do you go from here of
course then we got the complete horribleness of the cooler which destroyed all of flame princess's characterization and actions as it promotes an important plot chain it refuses to actually commit to and then soon after what feels like a oneoff joke consumed her entire character with little regard of what she used to be and it really excites because so much of her story was underutilized I trly say she's one of the most compelling and interesting characters the show introduces and her character
growth and development Rivals even the best developed characters in the show even other characters like cinnamon bun and even flame King changed so much in her Arc I still feel there's so much untapped potential in Flame Princess she's an interesting comp compelling powerful yet emotional and fun character he actually become one of my favorites of the whole show and I really hope that this has made you all see there's more to her than just being Finn's ex-girlfriend please tell me what you think
of her if thinks she's underrated as well and since better time is still continuing I really hope Flame Princess gets the Justice he deserves so please if at your time let her fire burn on you would defy nature for me can't we [Music] try it burs you car is so it [Music] burs

Man, what a video! I agree with practically everything on it. Just few (or maybe a lot of) thoughts: 1-I have a personal theory that Flame Princess appeared in few episodes because she is hard to draw, with all that fire moving at the same time (according to one of the artists from Adventure Time, which I doesn't remember the name, her initial design was based on a candle), and the same can be applied to the majority of the Fire Kingdom citizens. 2-Seriously, Jake, why do you want to find a princess to date Finn? It wouldn't be better to find a girl without any royal titles, knowing how carefree and immature he is by the time? Just remember how it works well with Huntress Wizard (yeah, her relationship with him was probably the best, because he got mature, but this is a story for another time). 3-I also never understood the scene with Jake being kiiled by "Finn", who was just an extension of himself. 4-My favorite episode about her was Vault of Bones. It was just nice to see her and Finn having an adventure together, and her design with short hair is perfect to her (also probably easier to draw). I also like how she emanates light inside a dark dungeon, creating an interesting effect during the entire episode. 5-My second favorite design of Flame Princess was her "arabic outfit" from the Ignition Point episode. It would be awesome if the Fire Kingdom had a more "middle eastern" motiff in their clothing and architecture, just to make a contrast with the medieval european style from the other kingdoms. 6A-I guess it would be a better storyline if Flame Princess and her father (who is another character with an awesome design) started as antagonists, trying to literally taking over the Land of Ooo by Fire, with her changing sides by Finn's influence. Unfortunately, the comparisons between Fire Lord Ozai and his daughter Azula from Avatar - The Last Airbender would be inevitable. 6B-About the previous point, let's make an amendment: They could have used the Ragnarok from the Norse mythology as main source for this plotline: One of the destroyers of the world during the endtime is Surtr, king of the Fire Giants. Maybe in this plot, the Flame King is described as someone obsessed with the end's world theory, and the rising of the Fire People as the sole survivors, after all land burn to the ground. The resurrection of the Lich could be interpreted by him as the "Ignition Point" (Ha!) for the end of the world, and the start of his conquest campaign of Ooo. 7-The entire episode of The Cooler and the fear of Princess Bubblegum would only make sense if we got a flashback sequence showing the Candy Kingdom (or maybe other kingdom) being invaded by the Fire Kingdom army, with the Giants appearing alongside them. 8-Flame Princess Brother as a character is more pointless than a circle. However, it would be nice to see an episode of him dealing with Finn's shenanigans, thinking "what kind of idiot my sister is dating?!" 9-Making her last episode being about rap is probably the stupidest thing I can imagine. Seriously, AT crew?! Of all things possible, an episode about rap? On the final season?!

Cinnamon rizz, my dude. Cinnamon Bun got that good old cinnamon rizz

@artsyrabbit

If only fin used a flame protector spell they could actually be close and hug and what not

Really enjoyed your analysis! I agree with most of what you said about FP’s missed potential but honestly I would go even further and say her character isn’t the best in “Hot To The Touch”. I just really dislike the trope of women being portrayed as naive and almost child-like, how FP king of was in that episode. For me, her character peaked in “Vault of Bones” and the episodes where she grappled with ruling the fire kingdom, I just wish the writers would’ve given her more focus as her own person instead of always using her to advance the stories of others.

@chughes6034

Never saw the episode where FP and Finn broke up, only came across it in another review... and I'm glad I didn't. I can easily see why people hate it so.

@ThiccFurryBoi34

Well if i can write 2 character ai bots for the sole purpose of my frustration with Finn and fp (their called evil Finn and flame prince Finn their settings is what i wrote about them also wrote 2 or 3 of flame princess but their more of her being a independent badass warrior or a love struck puppy to symbolize the traits she used to have not that rap garbage stuff though I do headcannon that Finn taught her most of ooo culture and hobbies I mean she’s wearing a t shirt and red shorts so more or less made Finn and fp sibling dynamic a family that could have been a better dynamic if they didn’t want to be a couple I mean their red and blue their birthdays according to the wiki are in March Finn is one week older then fp if anything it felt weird to me Finn dated hw and fine with being used in her worse wished hw and Finn was just temporary as it’s their deal not the true love as i really idd enjoy obsidian Finn being like Billy a pacifist who accepted his brother is gone and he’s gonna wait for him and be happy all his life instead of the finn we got In fionna and cake) made me really question it as im sure this will help cause honestly it really messed up how much of a coincidence the writers made cosmic owl and Jake convince Finn to get him be dumped and friendzoned by fp in a week and the fact there was a whole destiny thing where fp was supposed to be flame queen so does that mean Finn love life was sabotaged by fate so the other characters can have a better life like Jake has to find fp to get Finn a girlfriend and then fp rules the fire kingdom you know the place that put her in a giant lamp and let her die in a lamp or be married off to a evil prince like possibly don jon and the teasing of cb and pb creeps me out more and then the relief her soulmate was actually fern which Finn killed him but it’s like really messed up how fate or the writers screwed Finn that fp would date the grass clone of Finn so nobody get mad about fp being single it’s even worse that fp didn’t even know what Finn had to experience from cosmic owl all she knows is Finn made fun of her for a prank to make her fight ice king I really wish fp knew everything that Finn had to experience when he hurt her don’t get me wrong i love these but it’s like their whole relationship changed to different things but either way I’m glad their not like super enemies or some weird thing with fp dating older people or atleast the mainline fp dating fern cause that’s just creepy or you got a obsession of not getting over your ex but act like your over him but fine with dating the closest thing to your ex which is i guess isn’t fair in some terms since every human or fern can show their unique way of love but I swear to god if fionna and cake shows the mainline fp date a human that looks even remotely close to Finn it’s just like the writers/fate just taunt Finn for a universe that chooses its heroes they are really a bunch of absolute jerks you have to make every Finn and fp break up for some depression or character growth and all of fp versions just move on it’s just weird man but unique enough to make me write stuff so in a way i thank you but i hate what you did

@user-pf5uc4ms9g

I still ship finn x fp
