you eat when we say you eat you [ __ ] when we say you [ __ ] and you piss when we say you piss you got that you maggot dick [ __ ] the shash Shank Redemption is an absolute classic movie that's got a bit of everything drama friendship betrayal and of course hope it's based on a novella by Stephen King and directed by Frank Darabont so here's the lowdown on what goes down in Shashank the story kicks off with Andy duin Banker who gets wrongfully convicted of offing his wife and her lover talk abo
ut a raw deal right so they send him off to Shashank State Penitentiary a real tough joint where everyone's got a wrap sheet longer than the Bible inside Shashank Andy meets Red played by Morgan Freeman who's pretty much the wise old head of the joint he's been in the clink forever and knows how to wheel and deal Andy and red strike up a friendship and red becomes and andies go to guy forgetting stuff cigarettes posters you name it now Andy's no pushover he's got smarts and a cool demeanor that
sets him apart from the other cons plus he's got a little trick up his sleeve he's a whiz with numbers being a banker and all so he starts helping out the guards and the warden with their financial stuff and before you know it he's got them eating out of the palm of his hand but life in shash shank ain't no picnic Andy faces all sorts of crap beatings threats you name it there's even this messed up dude named bogs who tries to make Andy's prison wife but Andy ain't having any of it and he manage
s to keep his head above water one of the big themes of the movie is Hope even though Andy's stuck in Shashank he never loses hope that he'll one day taste Freedom again he keeps himself busy by digging a tunnel behind his poster of Rita Hayworth a little project he's been working on for years meanwhile r narrating the whole thing dropping wisdom bombs left and right he's skeptical about Andy's tunnel but deep down he knows there's something special about the guy as time goes on Andy gains more
and more respect from the other cons he starts up a library helps guys get their geds and even gets the prison to start a beer brewing program yeah you heard that right beer in prison Andy's got skills but it's not all smooth sailing the warden played by Bob gunton is one Shady dude he's making a killing off Andy's Financial advice and doesn't want anything to mess that up so when Andy starts asking too many questions about some missing money the warden puts the screws to him things really hit t
he fan when Tommy a young con who knows the truth about Andy's case spills the beans Tommy tells Andy that his cellmate in another prison confessed to the crime Andy's locked up for it's a glimmer of hope for Andy but the warden ain't having it he has Tommy taken out before he can testify making it look like a botched escape attempt but Andy's not one to take things lying down he keeps chipping away at that tunnel of his knowing that one day he'll be free and sure enough that day comes in one of
the most iconic scenes in movie history Andy crawls through his tunnel emerging into the pouring rain a free man but the rail kicker comes when the warden discovers Andy's Escape Plan turns out Andy's been pulling the wool over his eyes the whole time swapping out the warden's Financial records with fake ones he even leaves behind evidence that exposes the warden's dirty dealings with the warden's house of cards crumbling around him Andy's Legacy lives on red gets released on parole after servi
ng his time and follows Andy's instructions to find a secret stash of cash buried under a rock it's Andy's way of saying thanks for being a true friend the movie ends with red crossing the border into Mexico hoping to find Andy and finally get that taste of Freedom he's been dreaming of and as red looks out over the ocean you can't help but feel hopeful yourself hopeful that no matter how bad things get there's always a chance for Redemption so there you have it the Shashank redemption in all it
