adwood Community okay well the South Dakota Community Foundation has has 87 Community savings accounts which are small community foundations across the state uh we have a number of them in the Black Hills area and one of them is Lee Deadwood and um the the benefit of this is that uh it's a local advisory Council that governs the fundraising they govern who the grants go to and they really plan and Undertake and execute all of their own events and and whatever they seem to think needs to happen i
n their communities and speaking of great things that are happening in the community tell me about this 12th annual chili feed yes this is our 12th annual chili feed for the lead Deadwood community area fund uh it's hosted by the Deadwood Mountain grand it's April 18th from 5: to 7:00 p.m. um the uh $9 fee for uh people to come and enjoy and taste chili the um uh the proceeds all proceeds from the event go to the permanent endowment of the lead Deadwood area fund this year we have approximately
17 chili vendors as I said the cost is $9 per person and um we also have uh this year we're doing a little bit different we're going to have a Golden Spoon award for three different categories we have a first place category for the restaurant or professional chili vendors then we have a first place category for the um uh nonprofessionals and then we have a third category for the uh most unique Chile uh a lot of our chili vendors are very creative and and and come up with some various chili uh if
also the time when we do our uh distribute our grants our annual grants this year we have 19 nonprofit organizations that are located within the boundaries of the lead Deadwood school district and we'll be Distributing approximately $122,000 in Grants to those uh nonprofit organizations wow so there's going to be something for everyone whether you're an expert chili maker or maybe just a beginner exactly you can come in and for just nine bucks you can taste all of these and really be a part of
that Community up there you know it's a small place to be and um not everyone U might not know about uh like this we have typically we have two to 300 people participating oh wow and a great silent auction too oh yeah awesome probably what 30 items maybe at least 30 we have a great silent auction different organizations businesses and lead and dead would contribute to our silent auction and it's part of our major part of our fundraiser also wow so that sounds great something for everybody yeah s
