The movie begins in 2001. Nadia approaches
her ailing mother, informing her that today is New Year's Eve, and inquires if she would
like a celebration at home to bring her some joy. Mirna gazes at her with tears and
implores Nadia to listen to her father, for the sake of both her and her brother's lives.
Suddenly, Mirna coughs up blood onto Nadia, causing her to urgently call for her
dad and brother. Suyatno suggests that perhaps her fever has spiked, but instead of
giving medicine to her,
he leaves the room. Yoga asks him why he isn't helping their
mother, to which Suyatno angrily tells him to leave. Yoga observes his father going
into another room, where he overhears him pleading with someone or something to
not harm his wife. Later that evening, Nadia and Yoga are overjoyed to see
that their mother has recovered and has prepared food for them, and Suyatno
believes his prayers have been answered. Afterward, at midnight, they exchange
New Year's wishes with each other, and
Suyatno then announces that to
celebrate their mother's recovery, they will go out tomorrow. Just then, a shadow
appears behind Mirna, prompting her to get up from her chair and walk inside. Nadia notices
the water jug empty and heads to the kitchen, where she finds her mother placing her face
in the boiling pot. Nadia screams, alerting Suyatno and Yoga, who rush to the kitchen, and
after a struggle, Suyatno manages to pull her back. They immediately leave for the hospital,
and we see a d
emonic entity watching them. Three months later, we learn that
Suyatno has opened a new shop, and regular customers from other shops have
now begun frequenting his shop. Meanwhile, at home, Yoga ponders why their father chose
to replace the tiles instead of cleaning their mother's blood. To change the subject, Nadia
asks Yoga to assist her with her homework, but when he shows no interest, she begins
to leave. Just then, one of the tiles moves, catching Yoga's attention, and he tells Nadia
about it. The tile then shifts from its position, revealing a hidden compartment beneath it,
and as Yoga attempts to investigate, a demonic entity suddenly grabs him. Nadia rushes to his
help, and he eventually breaks free. However, he sees scorpions emerging from the compartment,
prompting Yoga to flee. When Suyatno inquires about the commotion, Nadia dismisses it, and she
notices that the tile is in its original place. That evening, during dinner, Yoga blames Suyatno
for their mother's de
ath and that his strict rules may have made their mother unhappy and
led her to take her own life. In response, Suyatno slaps Yoga, and then he leaves there.
Later, as Yoga tries to sleep, he hears his mother's voice calling his name. Perplexed,
Yoga emerges to investigate and notices a young girl running through the house. The light in the
kitchen then switches on, prompting Yoga to check, where he finds his mother standing in front
of boiling water. Confused, he approaches her, only to be
terrified by the appearance of his
mother's ghost, which disappears the next moment. Meanwhile, Suyatno brings a goat into the
house and takes it to the same secret room, and when Yoga secretly peeks inside, he witnesses
something incredibly horrifying. Nine years later, Yoga decides to reveal their father's secret
to Nadia, believing she is now old enough to comprehend. Late at night, he leads her
near that room and instructs her to peek inside. To her horror, Nadia witnesses Suyatno
per
forming a dark ritual, sacrificing a goat and then consuming its blood. She observes him
offering the severed head to someone or something, intensifying her shock. After this, when
Suyatno goes to bury the goat's head outside, Nadia cannot contain her curiosity and
approaches him, asking what he is doing. Meanwhile, Yoga breaks open the door to the
secret room, and when Suyatno tries to stop him, Yoga confronts him. He declares that they
know already and says that it should have been Suyatn
o who died instead of their mother.
Suyatno reveals that he was merely a poor merchant without a place to live. In exchange for a free
place to stay, he agreed to serve as the caretaker of the house. He expresses his desire to be
like other parents. To be able to feed them, enroll them in school, and provide them
with anything they wanted. Initially, everything went smoothly. The rituals involving
the goat's head, the endless house renovations, and maintaining the mess were part of the deal.
However, despite all he gained, the creature returned. Suyatno admits that if there were a
way to replace their mother, he would do it in a heartbeat. In a flashback, we see Mirna informing
him that the creature appeared to her in a dream, asking for Yoga. Suyatno reveals he had
the same dream, to which Mirna asks him to take care of their children, revealing that the
creature has agreed to take her instead of Yoga. Suyatno offers himself as a replacement, but she
tells him the deal is al
ready made. She implores him to promise that whatever happens to her,
he must never let their children know, as she doesn't want them to live in fear. From that point
on, their mother began to fall ill, and each time her condition worsened, he came to this room to
plead with the entity to take his life instead, but he failed. Yoga, declaring that he can't
allow it to continue, enters the room, and despite Suyatno's attempts to stop him, shatters
the skull of the goat kept there by throwing
it to the ground. Suddenly, the lights in the house
go out, and Grasping the gravity of the situation, Suyatno pleads with the entity to forgive his son.
Yoga attempts to flee from home with Nadia. However, he is confronted by a ghost
blocking their path. Terrified, Yoga retreats, but another ghost haunts him,
but Nadia is not able to see those entities. The next day in class, during a presentation
session where the teacher is reviewing each student's work, Nadia is researching
the ritual o
n her computer. Suddenly, the teacher connects her system to the projector,
making Nadia's search visible to all the students, and they start mocking her, adding to her
embarrassment. Later, when she returns home, Nadia discovers that the electricians are unable
to identify the cause of the electricity outage at their house. She then receives a call from
Setya, one of Suyatno's workers at the shop, who informs her that Suyatno is not at the
shop and cannot be reached. Later that evening, Na
dia calls Yoga and informs him that she
hasn't been able to reach Dad since this afternoon, and now she's alone at home, and
suddenly, the battery of Nadia's phone dies. She goes to their neighbor's house and asks if
she can charge her phone there while waiting for her dad. The lady warmly welcomes her
in and invites her to join them for dinner, mentioning that she has cooked the goat
her dad gave them. Nadia politely declines, saying she has already had her dinner.
Curiously, the woman re
veals that ever since she was pregnant with Tono, she has
been giving him meat from Nadia's dad, explaining that it's why the kids
are healthy and plump. Meanwhile, Yoga returns home and hears Nadia screaming for
help. He immediately rushes upstairs, only to find a lady standing in a bathroom's corner
facing the wall. Scared, Yoga approaches her, only to be confronted by a horrifying entity,
causing him to collapse in fear. After a while, Nadia arrives and tries to calm him down, asking
wh
at's wrong. Later, when Suyatno returns home, Nadia asks him where he has been. He explains that
his usual goat vendor didn't have a black goat, so he went to a small village to find
one. Nadia expresses urgency in finding help to end this situation, but he insists that
stopping the deal would be disastrous for them. He then apologizes to Yoga but explains to him
that since their mother died, the ritual he has been performing is to protect them. Suyatno
urges Yoga to listen to him and under
stand the gravity of their situation. Nadia also implores
Yoga to listen to their dad, disclosing that it was their mother's last wish. They then assist
their dad with the ritual, and as they bury the severed head of the goat, the electricity in their
house mysteriously comes back, and the next day, Nadia and Yoga distribute the meat of that
goat to their neighbors. Six months later, on New Year's Eve, we see that the relationship
between them has significantly improved. Yoga goes inside to
retrieve his jacket, but as
he starts to leave, the closet door opens automatically. He ignores it and continues,
only to be confronted by a demonic entity, but Suyatno and Nadia cannot hear his scream over
the noise of the fireworks outside. After a while, when Nadia goes inside looking for Yoga, his
body falls in front of her. Terrified, Nadia screams for her dad's help, but to her horror,
she watches as an invisible force continues to smash Yoga's body on the floor. The next day,
as Yo
ga's body is being taken for burial, Suyatno expresses gratitude to their neighbors
for attending the funeral but requests that they refrain from attending the burial. He then
instructs Nadia to go inside and lock the door. However, as soon as she turns, she
encounters an entity for the first time, causing her horror. Remembering Yoga's
advice for when she sees the entity, she closes her eyes and covers her ears, and in
the next moment, the entity disappears from there. The next day in clas
s, Nadia is horrified
when a goat's head falls on her table, but the next moment, it disappears from there.
Later, Bastala notices her taking antidepressant medication in the library and remarks that
she seems scared as if she is running from something. He says he understands that
it's not easy to share their story, acknowledging their fear that people won't
understand their problem and will judge them. He says that sometimes when his head feels heavy,
he spills everything on his mind into
writing, as a notebook will never judge his stories.
That night, Nadia tries to write in her diary, but she feels as if someone is calling her name.
Perplexed, she follows the voices, eventually leading her to the secret room, where she comes
face to face with the demonic entity, who is dismembering Yoga's dead body, and Horrified
by what she sees, Nadia is frozen in shock. Next, we see Suyatno bandaging her hands,
explaining that she passed out in his workroom. She tells him that she saw
the creature, and
it ate Yoga. Suyatno tries to calm her down and leaves there asking her to get ready. Later,
Suyatno is taking Nadia somewhere when she sees an old lady on the way. She asks Suyatno if he
also saw the old lady, but he brushes it off, suggesting that it might have been someone local.
Some time passes, and Nadia is shocked to see the woman again, but Suyatno doesn't pay attention
to her words and continues driving the car. As it starts getting darker, Nadia once again sees t
he
woman in front of the car. Terrified, she turns the steering wheel, causing Suyatno to press the
emergency brake. Nadia closes her eyes and covers her ears in fear, but when she opens them, she is
terrified to see the entity next to her, prompting her to exit the car. However, at that moment, she
suddenly realizes that her dad is missing. Looking for her dad, she rushes into the forest, where
she sees a man sitting at a distance. However, as she approaches him, it turns out to be another
entity. Meanwhile, Suyatno regains consciousness and discovers that Nadia is missing. On the other
hand, Nadia finds herself surrounded by several entities. Terrified, as she retreats, a hand grabs
her leg, causing her to fall, and to her horror, she watches the ghost of a child approaching her,
followed by the other ghosts surrounding her. Later, when she regains consciousness, Nadia
finds herself in a shack. She overhears Suyatno talking to someone, pleading for help. His elder
tells hi
m that he is just a mediator and that the matter is between him and the creature, and
then he instructs Suyatno to leave. Meanwhile, Nadia enters a room and is shocked to see
photos of many families displayed there, including a photo of her own family. Just
then, the elder and Suyatno enter the room, and Nadia tells them that she saw these people
and asks who are they? to which the elder responds that they are the people he helped. Confused,
Nadia asks why their photos look stained, like he
r parents' photo, while the other
photos appear clean. The elder explains that the stains appear by themselves when
the people in the photos violate the deal. He reveals that aside from the deal with him, her
dad made a new deal with the creature. Initially, the head of a black goat was sufficient for a
satisfactory life, but the creature demanded more. Suyatno swears that he didn't know the
creature would ask for a human sacrifice, to which the Elder responds that he failed the
test and a
llowed his family to fall apart due to his own greed. Suyatno promises Nadia that he
will find a way out, and asks her to trust him. After returning home, Suyatno locks his workroom,
sells his car and shop, and donates most of his wealth to various organizations. That night, he
notices Nadia banging her head on her room's door, and as he approaches her, she looks at him with
a creepy smile before entering the room. Suyatno finds her climbing on the wall, and suddenly,
she jumps on him and b
egins throttling him. After a struggle, Suyatno manages to throw her
onto her bed, causing her to become unconscious. At that very moment, Suyatno leaves the house with
Nadiya. Both of them travel everywhere seeking help for many years, from one healer to another.
They traverse almost the entire Java island, meeting gifted individuals whom her
dad believes can offer assistance. In 2021, they visit an elder named Unjuk, and
Suyatno pleads with her to help free his daughter and himself from t
he creature's grasp. He explains
that he has sold everything it gave him and donated the money to those in need. In response,
Unjuk tells him that what he did is useless, and there is no way to escape. The deal he made
allowed the creature to access their dimension directly. Every ten years, there's an encounter
to pick up the offering. The first was in 2002, his wife. In 2012, his firstborn child, and
in 2022, the creature is going to take Nadia. Hopeless, they return to their house, and N
adia
meets Bastala. She expresses her gratitude to him for helping her express what's on her mind, and
she gives her diary to him. On New Year's Eve, as Suyatno sits beside Nadia to keep her
company, she asks him to allow her solitude, expressing that it's her final wish. With
a heavy heart, Suyatno embraces her and seeks forgiveness before departing, leaving
her to be alone. As the clock strikes 12, the lights in the room start flickering,
and the creature materializes behind her, only to
vanish the next instant. Nadia, then,
begins scratching her arms and proceeds to peel the skin off her hand. Subsequently,
she removes the skin from her face, after which she grabs a knife and slashes
her throat, bringing her life to an end. Next, we observe Bastala reading her diary, in
which she has asked him to pray for her and her family if he believes her story. She expresses
that if they were to lose each other in this world, she hopes they can be reunited as one
whole family in the
next life. Following this, we see Suyatno consumed by regret for his
actions. In reality, he has descended into madness after losing everything, but suddenly
he sees someone moving inside his house, and as he comes out to check, the
door of his workroom opens on its own, and he sees the spirits of Mirna, Yoga and
Nadia calling him. As Suyatno approaches them, he notices their heads of goats and as
he enters the room, the door closes.
