for joining us. Today we're going to talk about Godzilla X
Kong, the new Empire. Now Linda, Godzilla X Kong. That's not actually the title, is it? Well, no, it's Godzilla King. Look, as if, you know,
like when you describe in a boxing match, it's versus but the the X kind of,
you know, is silent. It's a silent X naming thing. I believe one told Godzilla Kong. Sounds like something you'd play
in the school playground and that what you want to play. Godzilla Kong is the new film
for Warner
Brothers, where they've joined the Godzilla and King Kong franchises
together, directed by Adam Wingard. It's got a really good cast. I haven't seen it. I never see anything. Linda has seen it. She sees everything. Linda, take it away. Well,
this is a part of the Monsterverse thing. So we had the Gareth Edwards got Godzilla, and then we had the Kong Skull Island,
which I really, really liked. But then I feel like we are really
beginning to scrape the barrel here. I loved loved Gareth
Edwards, Godzilla. I thought that was really good.
I really like that. Maybe. Yeah, I thought it had like a sort of a good story to tell. And I really loved Skull Island Kong. Skull Island
because for me, it looked very much like a Vietnam War movie. Include in all the helicopters. I thought it was so well-done. The soundtrack was great. Then we started to kind of scrape
the barrel. I mean, it started with the last movie,
which was, if I could remember, it's called and it doesn't matter
the las
t one before the fact. You can't remember suggesting
it wasn't the greatest. Exactly. Because I couldn't remember
anything from the last one. So I had to go look up my own review
from 2019 to see what I thought of it. And what did you give
the last film that came out on Rating? I think last the 2019 movie? I think I gave it to Stars and I
really was not terribly impressed with it. I thought it was all over the place. This one in my opinion,
and I know some people might disagree,
this one is even
worse in my opinion. I feel like
this is as if it was written by a script. Really like this for a movie that's called a Godzilla Kong, Godzilla, Kong. You have to wait almost an hour and a half to even see Godzilla King
Kong together, right? Like the fighting between Godzilla
all this up. I really I'd love to tell you
what it was about, but I have no idea. I genuinely I was so confused throughout
this that I was like, I'm going to be me. Maybe I'm just tired. No, I'm not understanding this. Yea
h, nothing. I could not understand what was going on. And for for the majority of the movie, the film is,
however, saved by some good performances. Only slightly changed, saved
by some good performances. And Dan Stevens. If Dan Stevens had not been in his movie
playing this like, really quirky science guy and a sort of great creature
that dentists who help Kong with their course with, But he pulls out one of his teeth
because he's in pain and so then I know, I know. It is absolutely ridiculous.
Well,
I was just so directed by Adam Wingard, who worked with Dan Stevens on the guest,
I think. Yeah. Which which online debate.
And you got 6.7. This was way more than that.
Anyway, sorry, I interrupted. Yes. No, no. Good. Good guess. But I generally
I think if it wasn't for Dan Stevens, I think I would have liked
and that would have been a first. I would have got up after
about 20 minutes and left because I was very
I was already very tired. And I genuinely don't
see the point of this movie.
It would probably kill it at the box
office, probably get the people in,
and I think most people would. But the story makes zero sense. My kids model, my my 12 year old
wants to see it next week in the holidays. So I think we're planning to go. But the cast is. Rebecca Hall
You already mentioned Dan Stevens. Brian Tyree Henry's in it. They're the sort of three stand out. Well, knowns. Yeah. And who else is in it? they had a very much

Hall, a huge fan of Rebecca
Hall off her acting and her directing. And then I completely understand what why
actors like that end up in these movies, because they need to be able
to make the films that we love. They need to make these movies
to sort of survive in an industry
that's a do you know what I mean? But at the same time, I just like, I swear this is the first thing I said,
okay, not who wrote the script because I just
it was so muddled, a mixed up. And why did we have to wait so lon
g for
for the to happen? You know? I mean, why did we have to? And it's just it was just so silly. And I think if
if maybe it could be like retroactively like become kind of a so-bad-it's-good. But same time I was just like, come on. You know, you know, look, come on. Gareth Edwards
would not have made this movie. No, I looked up. So the 2019 film was called Godzilla. Just that's all it was called. But Gareth Edwards is Gareth Edwards like,
we love his gritty style, that sort of raw, you know, f
ilmmaking
talent, you know, ever since Monster's when he first came along,
he always came into the public eye anyway. So this just sounds like a Hollywood blockbuster,
sort of big money, but not very good. You know, this is what I think happened. Someone wrote the script, put all of the action in it,
and then suddenly thought, hang on,
we forgot to put it in funny things in it that they brought in, brought brought in Dan Stevens and Brian Tyree. Them and then just gone gone have riff you know be
funny
and they are funny together but I just think the whole thing
that Rebecca Hall is really wasted on this is she like a straight down
the line character because she can be is very much
so you know very much so Yeah. That's all I have to say. Well, there
we go. So, you know,
Godzilla X Con was the writing ender. So you're frozen. You frozen on that. there we go. You evoke. Because I. I thought that Stephen's looked
quite funny in this and I would have,
you know, I liked sort of that dynamic.
I'm going to get to know one, too. Okay, Well, I'm going to go next week. I'm going to take my 12 year old. I let us know when you've seen the film. If you thought it was better than Linda,
maybe you're going to love it. Maybe I'll love it.
Maybe my 12 year old love it. So I saw Ghostbusters cut of days ago. He loved it. I thought was okay. I know Linda really liked it. I was three star. He was four star.
So it's really good to see. And especially in these two holidays, it sounds like a good fi
lm state
your family, too, but two stars. Let's hope that the No die
Linda, go one plus. It's under 2 hours long. that's good. How long is it? One hour, 55. Yeah. Yeah. And it's a PG 13, so it's quite a good film
