Not A Critic

31-03-24 [CLIP FROM MOC] This was a clip from the "Men of Culture" podcast. If you're not aware, "Men of Culture" is India's most famous podcast channel after.. [NODS IN BEERBICEP] It made me realize is it our fault as the audience that these famous pop culture creators are talking about movies like "Ganpath" instead of "Dune 2". And has the field of pop culture movie reviewing truly become saturated? [INTRO TIME] Firstly, we should talk about what a movie reviewer is. A movie reviewer is a cine
phile who judges movies and shares their views and opinions with their audience. And if the audience's taste matches that of the movie reviewer then the audience decides whether to watch that movie or not which is a good thing. The problem here is that people don't even know what they're watching in the name of reviews. These days, under the guise of movie reviews, people are selling roasts, comedy, jokes, and propaganda. Where Movies are never being judged cinematically, for example, just look
at "Animal". I've seen only a few creators talking about its cinematic aspect everyone is just looking at its misogynistic angle, nobody is judging it cinematically. The problem isn't just this; cinema (la la land theme intensifies) itself is being suppressed in this review business. For example, when "Ganapath" was released, all the famous pop culture creators made 4 to 5 videos on this lazy cinema which made them views.. but when "12th Fail" was released a few days later, the hype around "Ganp
ath" overshadowed that cinema. Fortunately, later people found out about "12th Fail" and it became famous through word of mouth and now it's considered a masterpiece. But does a movie like "Ganpath" deserve so much attention? Because clearly, the voice of pure cinema is suppressed in this cringe fest. Another job of a movie reviewer is to introduce their audience to new forms of cinema, to take their audience on a philosophical journey of world cinema. But YouTube's algorithm doesn't allow pop c
ulture creators to do that. Which forces them to make videos and reviews on lazy cinema and the cinema which is currently going on And whenever a creator talks about a movie that doesn't fit into today's massy era, those creators don't get the reach that their other videos get which is why "Dune 2", "IB71", "The Creator" don't get the recognition they deserve And trust me, being underrated in the media industry is not a good thing most of the time, courageous directors don't get a second chance
after a flop The fact is that many review channels have emerged in the market which review movies or something else, we don't know but because of this, every creator is trying to keep themselves relevant whether it's Men of Culture, Scoopcast, or any other creator I think only 5ocial's Vishal is left who judges movies like movies. I've never seen them just go with the flow of YouTube. Well, we shouldn't forget that YouTube is also a business, and staying relevant in business is very important [R
EAL] but due to this, pure cinema (la la land theme intensifies) is being suppressed, which makes me sad. Well, that was about creators, but I also think the audience is responsible for this because we are the ones for whom these creators make videos, so we should ask ourselves what kind of cinema we are watching. And I know, everyone has a different taste Cinema is a True Art, which is very Subjective and Everyone Has Different Taste In Cinema (what they like to consume) and yes, we watch movi
es for entertainment, but we should definitely pay attention to what we are promoting in the name of entertainment otherwise, we are the ones who say Indian cinema is weak, waste, and good movies are not made here.
