well hi cuties and welcome back to the  channel I cannot believe this happened I will be reacting to uh atarashi gako but I  know them under a Japan leaders I discovered them super long time ago I was actually  really one of the lucky ones to discover them super super early I found them on Tick  Tock I loved them from the get-go I found them super quirky and super cute but I never  thought I'm gonna be seeing them on the first day so this is this is incredible I am excited  to hear them sing and
I actually didn't even know I have to be very honest with you  I thought that they are dancers when I just found out they are dance and vocal group  I'm super excited so let's get into it okay Domo cause if you do not know them make  yourself a favor and go watch some of their content it's like a pure  serotonin it's gonna make you so wiped up and Incredibly happy go watch it it's  gonna give you so much energy [Music] I love their constellations they're just pure happiness oh we  have so much
alive energy in them let's go outside I love them [Music] really nice supported stable turn very chesty huh  you can hear how much of a connection there is very very open you can almost  feel like she's dropping the larynx a tiny little bit to make it  a little bit more rounded and deeper absolutely [Music] [Music] a couple of cries there I mean  no vibrato expected of course but uh the cries are very subtle and very  sweet they're fitting really nicely is foreign [Music] with this genre a Uniso
n or sound I really  really like especially for the amount of movement and addiction of the song that is very  straightforward I like to use unit on our sound [Music] this is so cute [Music] foreign [Music] I love the intro Incorporated the intro actually  this is not an intro this is towards the end of the whole performance so now we are getting  a tiny bit of a solo intro for every member I love the girl with the ponytails  every video she's like literally my favorite she is my heart and my so
ul [Music] [Music] I actually have to say that I really  like her tone quality it's not very bright it's definitely not one of those tone qualities  that are lightweight very Angelic and bright she has a lot of depth in her voice and  even though she's very young it's kind of like that deeper voice but in a very young  person so she doesn't have that kind of a volume and a little bit of a tightness than  an older older voices have so she still has that youth and Clarity but it's already pretty
obvious that her voice is never gonna be like I'm very Angelic it's actually very  playful strong and very very grounded little mini belt that was not even entering  the mix so it was nicely supported it's not going too high so she doesn't have to  abandon her chest voice so she could get a really nice proper support and finish with  that little bit of a cry no perfect [Music] for dance song and tons of movements [Music] so we had three vowels it's so difficult  to build that's one of the vowels
that you really want to avoid when you go into any  belting space it can immediately feel how restrictive that vowel is ah much better that's  why we prefer open vowels in a belt that are ah even all can be better than oh and E is also  extremely restricted so preferably R and a and a vowel so those are both oohs where it could  be really really tricky but I like that they were not restricting them too much they tried to  open them a tiny bit so it's very relaxed [Music] yeah there were more si
tting It Forward  instead of kind of straining it from the throat that would be really bad so they kind of let it  elevate a little bit yeah you get a little bit of a nasal Timber from that but it's much  more better much better placement [Music] also legitly how adorable they are stop they are so quirky and sweet and cute and pure  energy but that aside them being a super sweet performers aside they did very well I know  that they are not mainly vocalists and for them to be able to create somet
hing this  stable and under control and even though the three rest of the girls are obviously not  too much vocally based they still got a little bit of a representation through probably you're  gonna be you know progressively working more and more on their vocals and the main singer again I  was really surprised from her I didn't know that she's a singer I didn't hear her sing probably  I heard her sing before yes I did but I never realized it's actually her singing so I'm super  super excited
and she has a really pretty tone quality I am excited to hear more songs from  them I actually feel like for their kind of kitschy and fun Concepts husband quality is  better than something super lightweight and very mellow it actually has a substance it  can have a drive and it can have a lot of kind of fun colors and fun little embellishments  that she can do in the future and I'm excited to see that but if you did enjoy this video  please don't forget to subscribe right here here is the video
that YouTube actually  recommends for you and here is rest of my first take reactions please stay safe  and healthy I'll see you next time bye-bye

@danbuter

Mizyu actually sings a bunch of songs as the lead. I think she takes over whenever Suzuka needs a break.

@OhPieDyeSki

Atarashii Gakko is like Babymetal but with entirely different music. By that i mean that they are inventing their own genre and nobody does what they do.

@jetdecklin3246

These ladies are gonna be huge. Their catalogue is deep, and feature elements of punk rock, jazz, blues, hip hop and whatever else they can come up with. It will be a joy to watch them take over the world.

@660dohcnk

Mizyu is the oldest & cutest!! She was one of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's back dancers when she was a child.

@stefanknauer7180

Suzuka has such a cool voice. I think she would fit some jazzy stuff pretty well. But all in all you simply can't watch/listen to this without having a smile :D

@joeyclemenza7339

just WATCHING these girls perform live, you can't help but get really hyped. they just put on such an excellent show, and Suzuka has some real Karen O, Debbie Harry, Siouxsie Sioux energy that just gets you jumping and throwing your fists in the air!!! I just barely discovered them, and I'm hooked.

@tildessmoo

Iirc, the reason dancing is so integral to their performance and they're so good at it is that they all started as dancers except Suzuka, who also spent some time learning before the group got together. Mizyu used to be a backup dancer for Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Kanon was a ballerina, and Rin did backup dancing for various music videos. Suzuka is the only one who is a singer first and foremost, which is why she does most of the main vocals. Mizyu did some backup vocals for Kary Pamyu Pamyu as well and does main vocals on some of AG's tracks, and Rin always wanted to be a rapper, so she does any rap verses. Also, most of them studied a particular kind of dance (I don't recall the name) known for looking manic and random until you see a group dancing in unison, which combined with some ballet from Kanon gives their choreography its unique look. Suzuka is also from Osaka, and while most singers might try to "correct" themselves to a Kanto accent, she really leans into her Kansai accent; that's why she not only rolls her Rs but rolls them _long_. She's also leaning into that accent a bit by emphasizing her deep voice: the feminine register is pretty high pitched in Japanese in general, but it's lower in Kansai dialect, and dipping into the lowest end and emphasizing rolled Rs is a bit of a Yakuza stereotype, which for young people translates into a delinquent stereotype. In this case it comes off as an inversion, since she's the front woman for a group called "New School Leaders." Or maybe it's a statement against stereotyping, since a lot of their lyrics are criticisms of the Japanese school system and social restrictions. Or maybe she just couldn't change her accent consistently and has a deep voice and it's all a happy coincidence, I haven't read much more than their Wikipedia page.

@efraimkudan36

the little girl in a ponytail, Mizyu, is their oldest..

@acgm046

What is unbelievable about AG!'s performances is how absurdly energetic some of their choreographies are, and how they keep that up with the vocals they perform. They embody the spirit of new Japanese youth perfectly, and I'm beyond hooked with their personalities, music and performances. I hope they continue to get even more well-deserved recognition! ❤❤❤❤

@kenjik4586

Hi Katriinka! Thank you for the precise commentary as always. As for the performance of Atarashii Gakko no Leaders, this is why we can’t take our eyes off from the first take channel.

@celem12

You don't listen to them for extraordinary singing performance, but their energy, creativity and the way they express all this together is off the charts

@revoltrevolt9788

You are so right!!! They are just pure happiness!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

@sneakybawls

I found them a couple months back. And I'm obsessed. I'm an old crusty metal head, and that brought of all things Babymetal to my attention. That group opened up my eyes to the Japan scene years back now. Then that showed me Band-Maid, who became my number one Japan obsession. And also Maximum the Hormone. But Atarashii Gakko.... something about their music just STICKS in your head. In a good way. So much fun energy. You can't help but smile. Can't decide if "Giri Giri" or "NaiNaiNai" is my favorite. And yes.... I'm also a member of Team Mizyu right with you. LOL

@sorrel7623

im so glad you finally watched them!! i have been a massive fan of theirs for ages, i truly think they are another level of star.

@QX65felt

2:46 ここすげぇ!ええやんええやん!

@estjack

音の再現力と分析力が理知的で技術的な解釈が素晴らしい。

@freyadonaldson2751

Just like you I found them years ago on TikTok and I LOVE that they stayed genuine with that silly and fun vibe with mature and skilled vocals!!! Love them sm

@quinlandwong740

Excellent breakdown of the video. Professional comments. Great job! Atarashii Gakko is just as fun to watch as the Beastie Boys in the old days. Cool!

@Justine_dgi

Yeeeessssss omg I discovered them recently and I love them, they're so much fun! I love Suzuka's voice! Their singing live is on point and yeah, just seeing them constantly being at their 1000% all the time is so nice! I'm also gonna try my luck again and recommend LiSA performing with Kalafina and covering their song Kagayaku Sora No Shijim wa ni wa, it was so different for her and I'd love to have a pro's opinion on that! 😊
