thank you hi and thanks for joining us today I'm Braden Brinkerhoff and I'm an applications engineer with SV microwave today I'd like to introduce you to sv's new threaded smpm cable connectors and adapters the s p m interface was developed as a smaller version of the standard s p interface as our technology was pushed into higher density higher frequency applications that still needed to maintain a small form factor however in certain environmental conditions mainly High vibration applications
like space launch and the flight conditions of military aircraft the push-on design of an s p m does not have sufficient captivation which would lead to issues such as loose connections and improper bottoming because of this RF performance is negatively affected but standard threaded connectors like an SMA have too large of a footprint to be a viable design alternative under a high vibration environment not only does the threaded smpm maintain sufficient captivation under stress RF performance r
emains unaffected the combination of the standard snpm interface with the addition of a threaded coupling nut makes this a perfect solution now you have a viable alternative to a large millimeter wave and SMA Type connectors that can fit the smaller form factor and operate at the higher frequencies of an snpm while still providing additional mating captivation though the addition of the threaded coupling nut means the threaded snpm will occupy slightly more space than a traditional SNP in it's s
