l tell you what they had to say and what happens when jurors return next week now at 10: this is FOX 61 Connecticut's news station tomorrow marks two years since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began and here at home officials at Yukon are investigating a case of hateful vandalism that ruined a show of support for the Ukrainian people thanks for joining us here at 10 I'm Brent Harden and I'm Sarah Sanchez for two years now blue and yellow ribbons have adorned trees and lamp posts across the storees
campus they were put up by members of yukon's Ukrainian Student Association and on Monday those same members noticed some ribbons had the letter Z written on them that's a Russian military symbol that has come to represent support for Russia's aggression against Ukraine Association members have been taking the vandalized Flags down but more keep appearing after these repeated actions they say it's been a very difficult week on Monday we just saw two or three and then with every day it's been mo
re and more and this is the first time anything like this happened so all of us are just shocked and we're not sure what to do and we're just trying to continue just supporting each other and just continue um raising awareness about what's going on youon officials say they are aware of the continued vandalism and they are investigating the situation as a bias inci the incident at Yukon is even more saddening for the Ukrainian Community because in 2 days it will be 2 years since Russia's Invasion
and the fighting has recently intensified there are new statistics to share on just how many Ukrainian citizens have been impacted by the war we'll have that update and more on a congressional Envoy that includes Connecticut lawmakers coming up later in our newscast before that it's time for first check of the forecast yeah expect the chill to stick around this weekend all ahead of a big warmup next week here's chief meteorologist Rachel Frank with what to expect Rachel yeah we'll turn a little
bit cooler the next couple of days but at least we've got plenty of sunshine and of course with that comes a dry weekend as well we just got the showers out of here for parts of Southeastern Connecticut where the rain lingered longer than the rest of the state you can see it continuing to move away dry air taking its place right now temperatures are in the upper 30s to right around 40° it's 40 for for the New Haven area and we actually see temperatures only drop another few degrees as we head t
owards Daybreak tomorrow so it will be a mild start to the day temperatures beginning in the 30s if you're heading out the door or even just waking up but look what happens to the temperatures they just don't budge as we head through the afternoon so we start in the mid-30s we climb into the upper 30s get two degrees in some towns it will be bright and also Breezy so keep in mind with winds that could gust up to 25 or 30 milph it may feel like the 20s for most of the day but again at least we've
got that sunshine and we stay dry into not only Saturday night but Sunday as well Sunday we're looking at highs near 40 and this is the start of that warmup that we've been telling you about low 50s on Monday and that's not even the warmest day in this 7-day forecast we'll talk about it coming up all right Rachel thank you a Norwalk police officer has been arrested tonight facing multiple char charges for stalking officer Hector Delgado was taken into custody by Bridgeport police on an outstand
ing warrant for stalking and harassment Norwalk Police say the charges stem from a Family Violence incident Delgado has been placed on administrative leave and his police Powers have been suspended an internal investigation is also underway a Massachusetts man will spend the next 30 years in prison for shooting and killing Trevor Figaroa back in the summer of 2021 27-year-old Jose stto of Springfield pleaded guilt is shooting stto on East Main Street in Waterberry the video on your screen now is
from that scene Soto was arrested 3 months after the shooting after a lengthy multi-agency investigation a 24-year-old is in police custody tonight for driving nearly three times the speed limit and crashing his car the incident happened back in September of last year on Boston Turnpike in the area of barnsby Lane and today centry police arrested Zachary Dennis for allegedly driving 130 m milph in a 45 mph Zone which led to a rollover crash police say Dennis was also driving under the influence
of alcohol he faces multiple charges and will appear in court next month following 27 days of testimony the defense in the Michelle tronus trial wrapped up its case today the defendant herself decided not to take the stand in her trial Fox 61's Julia LeBlanc has been in the courtroom since the beginning and she has tonight's breakdown of the trial outside Stamford Superior Court have you made this decision knowingly after talking to your lawyers see just before her defense attorneys closed out

like geography and Market costs for energy going up but they also point to State policies which Republicans want to change some of the lawmakers ideas separating the public utilities regulatory Authority or Pura which approves or denies company's rate hike requests from the Department of energy and Environmental Protection and you have a commissioner who's their boss that that is promoting policies that are going to Simply drive cost up Republicans also proposed using some of the state's unspen
t pandemic era Federal money to pay down the $190 million bill energy companies say racked up from customers not paying during the state's shut off moratorium let's take those arpa funds and pay that down because all these people were paying their bills this entire time should not be covering that for the rest of the state this Governor carried this moratorium on for far too long and that four-year impact is what is driving everyone's electric bills up Democrats on the legislature's energy commi
