Tractor Trailer Stuck at Federal Reserve Building

Tractor Trailer Stuck at Federal Reserve Building. Funny enough, we get called here a ton. Like Alex says in the video, the drivers back up to the loading dock while empty, then get loaded with literal tons of money and coins. As they leave and exit the driveway exiting the Federal Reserve, the now loaded trailer bottoms out and gets stuck. Sometimes they just need a tug and we can winch them out. In this case, that would do tons of damage to the landing gear, possibly bending them or breaking them. Alex made the call to use the boom with a spreader bar to protect the trailer. Big Flipper is a 75ton rotator and powerful enough to do it off the back corner, then once in the air he was able to swing the entire tractor trailer to safety. This method is quick and safe, with no damage to the sidewalk, the trailer or the landing gear. Well guys, we have a tractor trailer here at the Federal Reserve that is stuck. You can see it should be simple, but in order not to damage the landing gear, I'm gonna put my spreader bar over it, grab it, and swing it over just to minimize the damage. Pretty simple, it should slide, but sometimes there ain't no, and they don't wanna damage further as it is. I'm sure they're embarrassed getting stuck like that, but it's fairly common here. They come in empty, and then they come out loaded and ge
t stuck. So let's get to it, guys. Activate my free spools here. I'mjust setting up my outriggers. (motor rumbling) Pretty humid today. Went to the 90s, but humidity's through the roof. Almost feels like Florida. Florida's very humid. Other reason I know, obviously I've been to Florida, but fun fact, I used to play water polo, and I used to go off for tournaments for Junior Olympics, and it was humid. How you doing, sir? - What you gonna do, like, pick up the trailer or? - Yeah, I'm gonna pick u
p the trailer, so that way I clear your landing gear. Because if I just drag it, I don't wanna risk damaging it, you know? So rather just lift it and-- - It does stick like this. - Yeah, you come in empty, and then come out loaded, and it scrapes, yeah, it happens. (motor rumbling) Downtown LA. (motor rumbling) I should be using water polo on my Sprigger bars. (motor rumbling) (motor rumbling) So next I'm gonna attach my Bailey's Platinum Slings on each end of the spreader bar. (motor rumbling)
It's getting low enough so I can access it. I'm also going to be using my wood to chuck the wheels in the back. That way when I lift it, it doesn't roll back. (motor rumbling) Because I won't have the driver release his brakes. So when I swing it, it will, it would roll. Because I will not be picking up the whole load. I'm just gonna be picking up the front end where the legs are at. Ah, it's warm. All right, see, so I will be using these. It's Platinum Slings. All these 30,000 vertical, 60,000
baskets. Which is more than enough when I'm lifting. My sling shackles, I love these ones, man. The contour on the shackle allows for full working load limit of the sling. No jagged edges to tear it apart. That means that I will be protecting my sling. Yeah, I'll go over it and then one, one each strap will go on the bottom. And I'll just connect something in the middle and go up. As you can see, all these guys are armed with the AR-15s. That's because of the Federal Reserve. And these guys don'
t mess around. So we'll use these straps and then I'll protect them with my angle iron. What happened? - You have a lot of work to do. - Oh. (laughs) - So what do you think we'll pick up this then? - Huh? No, I'm just gonna pick it and grab you over. - Oh, thank you. (motor rumbling) So now we use these to protect the side of it with the shackle, and it doesn't scratch it up. And try to protect the trailer as much as we can. Just chalking this side now. It doesn't roll back. My boss told me to,
I asked if I could shoot up my drone for insurance purposes. Sometimes the last one we did, they said we damaged the trailer. Is it okay if I just throw it up there and leave it there? - Leave it where? - It'll be right here. - Oh, leave it on the sky? - Yeah, it'll just be hovering out of the way. - Oh, return, it doesn't matter. - Okay, I just thought I asked, thank you. Go ahead and release the brakes. - What? - Yeah, I put the chocks over there. Just stay in it, okay? Just stay in it. - Both
brakes, please. - Yeah, both of them. It's released. Okay, I'm just gonna grab you and I'm gonna swing you over, okay? You're not holding the brake, are you? Are you holding the brake? No? - Yeah. Now we're holding the brake. (motor rumbling) I know, I can see it. That's fine. Let me push you out a little bit. Hold the brake there. Set your brakes. You set your brakes? Set them. There you go. Yeah? - Who send you a bill to the bank or to the-- - I think the bank is the one that pays for it. Let
me double check, okay? See, so oddly enough, got it. No damage to the trailer. No damage to the side of the wall. No damage to his landing gear, which is very important. Because when he drops this, he doesn't want to compromise that with the heavy weight. And it's always important to chuck your wheels because the moment you go airborne, gravity wants to take over. Pull it. So let's just unrig, so this guy can pull out. - Is that yours? - Yeah. - All right. - Last time when I did one, the guy wa
s saying that we damaged the trailer. - I remember, I was here. - Oh, okay, yeah. So I asked one of the other officers if I could just throw it up just so I could see on top. That's the whole purpose. I'd rather be there because then they want to charge you for the whole trailer, you know? - Yeah. - Not fair. - Huh? - How much you charge you for this. - For this? I think we charged you guys, no? - Yeah. - Officer, I think Sergeant - Oh, okay. - I think so, that's what it says on my notes. - Yeah
. - So I just-- - There's a compartment down there, they get the bill, yeah. - Okay, yeah. So I'll have pull out, that way he doesn't get stuck, and then I'll just put my truck away. - Okay. - Let me move my boom out of the way so that way you can turn, okay? - Okay, just a second, take one too. - Thank you. - You already made it, they're gonna pay, right? - They're gonna pay. - Okay, how much is it worth, like? - I'm not sure how much. I'm not in charge of the billing department. - So how much
can you give it to me? It shouldn't be like-- - I'm not sure, man, to be honest with you. Probably anywhere between 750 to 1500 maybe. Ballpark, okay? Now he can take off, he's free & clear. Is he next? Is he next? I know. That was heavy. For a moment it was floating my truck. I am on my weak side, but it was pretty heavy. Just compensated by booming up and going into my boom gave me a little bit more strength and I would just counterbalance the weight that I'm lifting and voila, went up. Pret
ty sure the driver was holding the brake, so. It wasn't allowing the truck to roll towards my boom angle. So the moment I mentioned something about the brakes, they said no and then all of a sudden it moved. I figured it was holding the brakes. Let's put up the outriggers. Now for my cones. One important thing, you always wanna pick them up, facing the traffic just because you get some knuckleheads and if you have a chance, if you have your back to them, you really can't do much. (horn honking)
Got my Oakleys. Now for some, some Prime. Thank you, gentlemen. Be safe, thank you. That was fun. Time to head back to the shop and see what else we get. Hopefully we get a rollover. Well man, we'll see you guys later.

@wideslammer

Of course Alex is a skillful operator of the truck and equipment, but he's also a good narrator of what he's doing. It's nice to have another person who can take a truck and camera and produce more good content for the channel.

@donweden7199

And the moral of the story is...money is not worth as much as it once was but it still weighs the same. Good job!

@internethistoriansociety3679

"are you holding the brake? its not moving?" "no" loud and noticeable brake release sound starts moving "yeah"

@tiredoldmechanic1791

Funny how you could hear air release after you asked if he was holding the brake.

@DrewMarold

In this modern age, if you want to be a tow operator you need not only a CDL license and a vast knowledge of rigging, and mechanical systems, but you also need to be a Part 107 certified drone pilot too.

@dmac5994

Alex does a heck of a good job both in recovery and explanations. well done.

@steelfist65

Alex does an amazing job both with the techniques as well as narrating. He's a natural and very humble as well.

@erickpacheco1623

This wrecker driver is a true pro..I can see that's the reason his company sends him to the federal reserve..He knows how to not only do his job but talk to people...SKILLZ

@daveanderson2865

Lots of set up and time goes into these lifts. Glad to see situational awareness used every time the truck goes out to a recovery. i enjoy your videos every time yous post.

@paulbergen9114

Love the guy on the scooter who seemed befuddled by the trailer being there. Important thing. You got the job done with your professional "light fingers"

@royparker9509

Great job as always. You can tell its a government operation when they didn't have the foresight to understand a fully loaded trailer would sit lower than an empty one.

@KenBurnham66

I admire Alex so much. He is so good at everything he does and makes it appear so effortless. Regarding the exit from the building, it appears to me that some work should be done to give semis more clearance when exiting.

@Messisteve37

Alex is a a great operator for pepes towing. Nice job there. Didn’t think federal reserve would allow video recording. Good video guys

@scottsmith1569

There's a very good chance the driver could of tied up his self leveling valve, to over extend the tractor air bags a couple inches, walked right out of there. I've personally done that a few times.

@DimensionMachine

It is always a pleasure to watch somebody who is good at his job! He made it look so easy!

@yvessilva3294

Thanks for sharing this with us. No doubt it's amazing to see only one man do this kind of job, and with such ease. Amazing Alex!

@theoriginalfixitallgarage

I really enjoy an Alex video. Competent work and friendly demeanor without all the posturing.

@pri0r_t0_a_weekago...fukwi48

Wow Pepe’s towing setting the standard with this, holy cow very impressive work. This guy better be getting paid good if not he deserves a major raise

@jimbeetem7143

The job is easy when you have the correct equipment and an operator that knows how to use the equipment.

@edwinschlee8374

Good job Alex getting him lifted and on his way!
