Traveling the World to Find a Dream Car: Andrew’s Drive It Forward Story

With the desire to share real stories from our fans, Techron and Havoline started the “Drive It Forward” contest so our community could share their own unforgettable road trip story, or nominate a friend or family member’s heartwarming car-related project, for the chance to star in the next Techron and Havoline video, vote for their favorite stories, and provide the opportunity for one lucky winner to share their story with the automotive community. Andrew Sackman, like many auto enthusiasts, would stop at nothing to find his dream car and even traveled around the world to do so. After being stationed in Japan, and searching online for almost a year for the perfect vehicle, Andrew knew just 15 minutes after test driving that he had found his dream car. Now that he has the car back home, he enjoys driving on mountain roads that remind him of those in Tokyo. Andrew places a high value on preserving his cherished car for the long term. That's why he relies on Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner to safeguard his fuel system and Havoline Full Synthetic Motor Oil to ensure his engine consistently operates at peak performance. [Music starts] So I like to take my cars up to mountain roads, where I can just be free. Just drive, and no music, no one else, just kind of in your own little world. Hello my name is Andrew Sackman, and I'm a Subaru enthusiast. So I've been into cars pretty much my whole life. Really started with off-road vehicles, but it kind of morphed into Subarus, and then it just snowballed from there. Falling in love with Subarus it was just the performance and the looks, and then it was definitely the so
und that really got me into it as well. So I joined the Navy in 2008, a year out of high school. First got stationed out in Washington. Spent 5 years up there. Went to San Diego where I met a bunch of other like minded enthusiasts from the Subaru car club, and it was just randomly one day I was talking and I was like, you know what? I'm gonna get me a car from Japan. And so I decided to go to Japan to essentially find my dream car. and so I got stationed in Yokosuka, spent a year out there, fina
lly found one that was actually worth buying. This one popped up on a Facebook group page that I was following, and it was up for not even 6 hours. It was 4 or 5 hours I think it was up? And I contacted the guy. I met him up and he took me over to the car. Test drove it and about 10, 15 minutes I was hooked. So I did a lot of paperwork getting it exported over here. Took me awhile to get it all done, but to me it was worth it. This was one of the vehicles that I would dream about and just love f
or the vehicle. I heard about the Havoline and Techron Drive It Forward contest through Tanner Smith who runs the Smeedia YouTube channel. I was just randomly watching one of his videos one day and he mentioned it so I just decided to enter. And then one morning I got a call saying hey you won, and I was like completely just like dumbfounded. It didn't really kick in until a little bit later, but when people talk about my car, it's like instant happiness. I like doing my own maintenance and just
making sure I put good quality products in my vehicles to keep em running forever. Chevron products is definitely a brand I trust. I only fill up with Chevron gas, that's it. Nothing else. I use Havoline oils to keep my engines up to top performance. The oils are really good. They're full synthetic. And I like Havoline's box design. It reminds me of Japan. It's really easy to you know, stack and store. I also like how it has 6 quarts. It is a good value. Especially when you only need to buy jus
t one product. I use Techron Complete Fuel System Cleaner in all my cars, cuz it helps with performance. It cleans your fuel system. And I've noticed at least probably about 3 to 5 MPG more cruising. For me it's important to keep my cars in you know, top performance, tip top shape, just to keep everything nice and running smooth and to keep all my cars lasting for as long as possible. Hopefully they'll outlive me. [Music ends]
