Turning Trash into Science fiction: How Two Friends in Their Forties Crafted Their Own Universe

Chris May here, reluctantly stepping out of the shadows of my Inkmaster stint to introduce you to the madcap world of Worm Drive – my latest descent into televised chaos, alongside my partner-in-crime, Joel. So, Joel and I, in a moment of questionable judgment, decided to throw our hats into the sci-fi ring. Picture this: two average Joes, one barely-functioning spacecraft, and an entire universe of "why the hell not?" It's like a collision between Sanford and Son and Red Dwarf, with a sprinkling of existential crisis courtesy of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. But hold onto your seats, because WormDrive isn't your grandma's TV show. Oh no, it's a choose-your-own-adventure rollercoaster! After each scene, YOU – yes, you, the hapless viewer – get to steer the ship for our hapless heroes, Mott and Leslie. Will they embark on a thrilling quest for scrap metal in the Valcor system, or cozy up to a dubious ship dealer? The choices are as endless as they are dubious. Now, let's delve into the behind-the-scenes chaos. We stumbled through every aspect of production – filming, editing, special effects – you name it. Sure, it started off as a dumpster fire, but hey, Rome wasn't built in a day. Or with any semblance of competence, for that matter. And let's not even get started on the wardrobe. Our costume department consisted of whatever we could scrounge up from the local thrift store bins. But hey, one man's trash is another man's intergalactic treasure, right? So, if you're brave enough to board the Sanford – our glorified space junkyard – then buckle up for a wild ride. From harebrained schemes to awkward romances, Worm Drive promises thrills, spills, and enough existential crises to make even Sartre blush. But enough rambling from me. Hit that subscribe button, spread the word to your fellow intergalactic misfits, and let's see if this cosmic train wreck can achieve liftoff! And for those with a nostalgic itch for the days of Adult Swim and Liquid Television, consider WormDrive your ticket to a bygone era of late-night lunacy. So, grab your popcorn and brace yourself for a trip down memory lane – just be sure to fasten your seatbelt, because things are about to get bumpy.

WORMDRIVE

hello I'm Chris may you might have seen me on season 3 of Spike TV's International hit Ink Master brought to you by Taco Bell live Moss but more recently I've made my own TV show and it's called worm drive me and my best buddy Joe Asal decided we are going to make our own Choose Your Own Adventure Sci-Fi show there's going to be two guys in a shitty spaceship just cruising around looking for junp kind of like Sanford and some but more mixed with like red dwarf and hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy
and Doctor Who like a sandwich like a good sandwich Worm Drive is a Choose Your Own Adventure Show where at the end of each scene you get a pick where Mt and Leslie those are the two main characters I play M Joel plays Leslie no I play Leslie Joel plays M yeah so when you watch the show at the end you'll get choices as to what M and Leslie will do next you can go look for scrap in the velor system or you could go and get Armory with the guy who sold you this ship that isn't quite working right a
nyway we learned everything on the Fly we learned filming editing sound special effect that's why you'll noticed when it starts it's you know it's okay it's got heart and then as it goes along oh hey what do you know just got a little bit better it just got a little bit better and the characters developed cuz at first we were just like talking to each other like we talked to each other but eventually it got to where we we knew who these characters were and it was a lot of fun it was fun to to be
Leslie 77 or to be M Kyper like we actually had fun doing it and we look forward to it every weekend it was cool because it's like we're 48 years old and we're getting together on Saturday mornings and playing with toys and pretending you like we're Spacemen I don't know I think it's fun our costume department is just a lot of Salvation Army clothes all the aliens in the show wear really bad sweaters and slacks and whatever we could find we built an entire set for the Sanford in Joel's basement
and then in my basement we built a green screen and this little this little uh Beach laboratory here this is the Sanford this is our piece of [ __ ] ship that's full of mystery an Intrigue which is we'll find a lot of in worm drive as well as action A Little Romance first we were doing traditional green screen uh things with just the toys but then I learned about scanning things into 3D and scanning scanning scanning scanner I don't know a lot about 3D and all that I had was Apple motion so I w
ould use apple motion to like them and make the camera move around them so it looks like they're flying and then I learned how to add propulsion systems and lights and lasers and all that stuff talking to a camera all by yourself is hard to get used to soz you're thinking like oh I'm sitting here front of this camera am I going to sound like all these other YouTube Jack bags that are like hey I'm overly excited to talk to you about this new project I've been working on it's called Worm Drive cho
ose your own sci-fi Adventure Choose Your Own Adventure sci-fi Adventure but yeah check us out on YouTube uh Worm Drive show at Worm Drive show # Worm Drive show uh if you just look up Worm Drive you're going to get a lot of stuff about saws circular saws I didn't think about that when we when we made it I don't know a lot about YouTube but we're learning maybe if we get a lot of subscribers we'll make a T-shirt and you can wear it to the drivein or the monster truck rally you never know Worm Dr
ive watch Worm Drive share it with your friends tell all your nerd friends about it I'm a nerd too you guys it's cool I'm also a dork and yeah okay that's price enough J
