ail list and you'll be entered there as well so please do that we're going to give it away next Tuesday on next Tuesday show so you don't want to miss it um jump in all right coach that spring practice full on Georgia has a scrimmage um uh another scrimmage uh this week pads are on people are competing a lot of players are coming out and speaking at these press conferences Kirby Smart has a lot to say I want to give you an opportunity before we go any further in the show you said in one of our r
ecent shows that you have a crush on a Georgia football player and that and that Georgia football player is Michel Morris and Coach I I don't know about you well I do know I do know about you because I know you some of the stuff that Michael Morris and Kirby Smart said this week I think may have just like stoked the Flames of that crush a little bit uh because uh Michael Morris I'm gonna read this quote because I want everybody to hear it Michael Morris was asked about his his play his physicali
ty he said their mouthpiece had better be in because mine's in and I'm coming for you and Cirby smart was asked about Micah Morris in a separate uh uh press conference and Kirby said guys on defense know when Micah comes up on a double team or Micah pulls he's coming with bad intentions if that doesn't make your heartbeat as a football fan and as a and you as a coach especially I don't know what will Coach what do what do you what do you want to tell the people about Michael moris I want to call
power encounter every play and just watch him destroy people is what I want to do coach is run coach is running the Veer with Michael Morris every play oh my God watching a double team with him no doubt about it uh you know watching him play from last year you know getting a spot play last year at guard mostly um I believe it was guard only honestly but just watching his style of play I knew that he was something special and uh you could just tell by his technique you could tell by his want to
he I he just looks like he's just mean I mean he looks like he nails for breakfast he gets after it no matter what play it is you never see him take a play off when he pulls he pulls with bad even when they run like a counter boot action play action off of it he's just a guard wrapping around to the playside I mean he just looks like a monster so when I was doing a lot of my breakdowns for Micah he was one of those that I just had like I said I developed a crush for him because he was one of tho
se guys that I knew was a lunch pill kid going to come in every day who was going to destroy whoever was lined up in front of him and he backed that up because now we're getting to hear these guys that we don't you know you know haven't heard I mean it's first time they're up on stage talking and talking to the press and you know Micah's one of them and the first I mean some of the first things out of his mouth is he's saying you better by God be ready to go and I'm like okay that's what I want
to hear because that's exactly what I see your play be so uh it's exciting to see what he's doing and how he's already I think taking advantage of that this spring and having a great spring from what I'm understanding so go M man for him we have uh just minted coach Hayes as the president of the Michael for Michael Morris fan club um the the the president the Pope the pope and Tator whatever we're going to call it you're the you're the chief honcho of the Michael Morris fan club and I love heari
ng you talk about M AC that with gratitude I accept that definitely I love it all right um so so that was a fun thing we heard this week on the on the not so fun side so we we want to address it we want to talk about it right here at the top Trevor etn uh arrest um everyone knows we don't we don't have to go into all the details around the arrest but he was he was charged with uh what's called uh DUI less safe um reckless driving um it's essentially you know DUI less safe is it it allows a drive
r to be convicted of DUI even if your blood alcohol content is below 08 um there's other charges you know associated with all of this Kirby Smart came out and he said uh address the situation this week in his press conferences and you know he spent the first part of his press of his press conference um addressing how good of a kid and a person T Trevor etn is right like Kirby Smart you know he um he will always he's a player's coach um and I think he I think he does I think he does shoot straigh
t but I think he also wants to make sure that people know that these these players are human wants to make sure that he that people know um that they are good people and he said you know he's a great kid he's a great person he enjoys being coached he's a bright kid we push him hard he really enjoys competition um all these things but the root in the heart of his comments were he said you know as we also know sometimes kids don't make the best decisions the older you get sometimes the tougher the
consequences are for your mistakes he's not going to let this mistake Define him he's embarrassed he's upset he knows he made a mistake and then he gets to actual discipline part of the conversation he said in addition to our University discipline process we have all the stuff we you know we deal with in-house and he will s suffer under the um and he will uh be under the same rules we have in-house as well as University discipline I'm disappointed in his decision-making but he's a good kid list
en we'll talk about this situation specifically we can speculate you know maybe like what's going to happen with with Trevor etn um I will say at the top I mean I personally I I I've I've been in this Georgia football Circle most of my life um I will say I do hope that the university and I do hope that Kirby Smart finds something different to do to address this particular situation because I know they are trying I know that they have speakers come in they have police departments come in they hav
e you know all these people come in and talk about safety try to educate these kids try to do all these things they they are college students they make bad decisions um but I think the way that you stop this you know the Optics of this is these things stop happening and so um I I will say address at the at the top not beating around the bush something's got to give in terms of this particular issue of driving at the University of Georgia that said Trevor etn what do we think is going to happen w
ith Trevor etn you you you heard it we talked about it a little bit before the show um you heard maybe Kirby had a little bit of a slip in some of his comments when he was when he was addressing this there was a little bit of a slip um you know it this wouldn't be really I it's regardless the way you look at it from a morality standpoint I think it's compounded from the tragedy that happened last year and unfortunately I hate to say it with this intent but it everybody who's in that who who's go
ing to be put in that situation and is going to be on a short leash and unfortunately I don't know if he realizes he's got to wake up he's got to wake up and I hope this is a wake up call for him because you know he is coming in from another program that might have not have been as as tight uh of a framework of what he was used to and came in thinking you know a little loose on the edges I'm glad that Kirby defended his character he needed to do that as a coach I think that's important to see I
know he's pulling his hair out because honestly things will not be forgotten about and you know and I don't say forgotten about as far as the as the ones who lost their lives but you know I look at it from a standpoint of something's got to give like you said there's got to be something that's put into place that allows some kind of you know I'm not saying there's got to be a a Swift and and quick punishment that goes right into play but the policies and procedures you're having to follow and co
mply to it it's basically you can't put me in a situation where I can't support you and in this case scenario he put Kirby Smart in a place where he can't support him because not only is he under institutional infractions and obviously the responsibilities of those things that'll come down which is where the slip came from because you could see and that's something that I've noticed with Kirby this year he seems to be a little more transparent a little more I don't know he seems to be wanting to
talk a little bit more he's not as tight lipped and just keeping things very generic and vague but he slipped out I think you could hear him almost say that he was going to be sus and then he stopped his words and which sounded like he was going to be suspended what are he suspending for you know in this case it's probably you know it could be for the spring game and then also for the first game of the season um but I think the intent of this has got to be met swiftly and it's got to be enforce
d because he's they're going to enforce it in house obviously the discipline that'll come from this I mean etn is about to go through an immortal hell that you know he's not going to like but you know it comes down to the fact of it goes beyond just a disciplinary measure at the football level this becomes comes an issue just overall safety and taking care of your athletes and taking care of everybody around you um and like I said I hope and pray that the institution as well as all the athletic
departments not just the football Department can come with a common ground and build a framework that's going to help keep these kids safe and just hopefully you know you can't be around these kids 247 and uh that's what's unfortunate about it so anyhow uh that's where I feel like it's going I would say a suspension of possibly one maybe two games U if that and uh like I said I know he's going to definitely face a lot of disciplinary measures with the program within the program itself as well ye
ah yeah and I think you know I think people who people who think that Kirby's smart is ignoring these issues in favor of wins and playing guys and all these things is absolutely ridiculous absolutely ridiculous to without a doubt um but there is a uh but you know you know there there is you mentioned it there is there's for me it's just the Optics and the pattern and something's got to change um because uh it is it is a situation where uh you know I mean yes they're they're not we talk we we've
said it on one of our recent shows we call them kids all the time they're not kids I mean you know they're they're they're you know of age adults in terms of being being able to be on their own and all those things and you can't you can't keep watching them but what well you can do is I mean there's a number of things I know um University of Georgia is trying um you got to keep you got to keep talking about it something's got to happen because you got to get through these kids all right so want
wanted to address that all right now let's let's move on and let's talk uh real real quickly so we did a a breakdown of um Ben urasek and uh you know the the transfer tight end that's coming in we talked about the tight end room um a few weeks ago before Georgia lost Pierce Berlin uh to medical retirement and so um we were talking about this and I thought it might be interesting just to dive into a little bit is uh so so Georgia is without Pierce without Pi Pierce berland Ben urasek is their tra
nsfer tight end who is not on campus yet which leaves Georgia with four scholarship tight ends for spring so you have Oscar Delp you have Lawson lucky you have Jaden rle and Colton heimr um coach tell tell us a little bit about you know does Georgia have a depth problem at tight end um especially considering you know Georgia does does have there there are some walk-on tight ends on the roster there are guys that you can plug in for reps and things like that but there are not guys uh that you can
plug in to actually run uh the offense like Georgia runs it with those tight ends um from that walk-on group so coach what is what is that do for an offense that's trying to Jael what does it do you know at that position that's such a really important such a key position for a team like Georgia when you have a lack of depth um in in the room for spring well you said it I mean it's one of those things that's disruptive because when you're trying to make a game plan for practice and you want to s
ee kids obviously get better and give them a chance to develop and grow and see those aha factors that you want to see that you put up on the dry race board after practice sessions are over with and you're sitting in the coach's office with all the coaches and you're saying you know who impressed you today what did I see on film things of that nature I know right now it would be mentally exhausting for me trying to and this is the reason why I brought this up earlier was that I was going through
each group trying to look at is there any group right now that might be possibly struggling a little bit I'd heard word that you know Luck's maybe not having the best spring in the world right now so he's probably still going through some growing pains and because they're counting on him a lot more all of a sudden now he's not having just Spotlight at times he's being counted on heavily for reps he's probably going with the twos I would say right now and uh you know and especially when they go
12 Personnel he's in there probably with Delp going through all the offensive schemes but it really kind of handicaps when you're trying to set up offensive game plans and you've got like I said Ben not here yet Ben URC not here yet lucky struggling delps probably feeling like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders right now because you got two freshmen that are wide-eyed and they're trying their best you know to keep up but it's like I said the Matrix effect right now is going v
ery fast and they're not you know nearly trying to necessarily catch up it's not saying they're not probably giv their best foot forward that's probably the reason why you might hear a little hints every once in a while that these youngans have bright spots but you hear that because just like last year we heard bright spots with lost and lucky too so now of a sudden I think you've got an issue until Ben uret gets here it really puts kind of a a clamp on growth in the tight end room and unfortuna
tely I guess you're going to see more growing pains from the tight end room but I don't really think it's going to be a lack of depth the only problem is osex really going to have to have a quick learning curve coming in during the uh summer and then getting adapted for the so you know I hope that he can come in and learn very quickly he's a smart young man coming from a very the you know pristine uh institution so hopefully smart enough to catch up and get ready for gameplay but I know right no
w probably for the spring especially they are struggling with their personnel because it probably handicaps them in what they're doing uh daily just to try to prep because they don't have enough guys to go yeah and and you also have to be so so careful too right when you when you lose um uh Pi sperin you have been osc not on campus yet you you got Health you got all those things and part of spring is I mean you're you're trying to go full speed you're you're you're in pads you're scrimmaging you
're doing all the conditioning you're doing all that stuff and so uh that's a that's a position that Georgia has been super strong in that I still think Georgia is very very strong in uh but uh I just wanted to flag it uh in in this conversation because I do think it's something that not a lot of people are talking about I think a lot of people just look at that tight end room and say well you got you know uh Oscar Delp and you got law and lucky and you got rdle and you got uh Colton Hinrich and
you got you know Ben your like people just name the all the tight ends and it sounds like a lot um but I think it's something that you know we you really need to keep an eye on um I'm really hoping that that groom stays healthy and that those and more importantly those young guys just pick it up real quick I agree with you let me say one last thing think about this if you're running 12 Personnel let's say you're wanting to devote time today during 10minute periods or 5 minute periods and you wa
nt two periods of 12 Personnel time say it's a 12 person El day you can only go two groups you've got you've got Del and lucky and then the minute they go number two's go in guess what you got two freshman running the 12 Personnel behind that so you just tell me how that can be exhausting right of the gate so that's the reason why I'm saying there's there's a handicap there that goes with even trying to run different personnels because of the amount of kids you got out there at that position rig
ht now yeah for sure well we're going to keep an eye on it uh and uh and we'll talk more obviously about the tight end such a really important part of this George offense okay we're going to talk about xor players as well so um there's a you know I think we've talked about there's a lot of people that are talking about um you know all the all the names that that you hear right um Carson Beck you got you know the the returning uh receivers in um love it you got raah Thomas you got you know you go
t the the transfers in a lot of wide receiver transfers are getting a lot of public publication right now with uh uh Colby young is one in particular it's getting just getting a lot of lot of press but there's a couple of players you know I think that are maybe flying under the radar maybe a little bit under the radar in Spring practice right now um and I wanted to touch on uh a couple of them tonight just to just to talk about guys that maybe we don't talk about a lot maybe should talk about a
little bit more so I'm goingon to talk about one and then then Coach has one that we'll show a little bit of film on but um jakori Thomas uh had his opportunity to talk to uh the media this week and um jakori Thomas is a guy that I that not a lot of people are talking about um the jakori Thomas is a safety this is his uh third year at at ug um he's a guy that came in uh into the program from Orlando Florida and he came into the program he had played offense in high school he was converting to sa
fety Georgia recruited him for size and speed um it's it's interesting you know when you go and look at some of these guys jakori Thomas you know he had he had almost 1400 yards and uh and and 15 or 16 touchdowns at wide receiver and running back in high school and uh and then yeah and then he shows up at Georgia and uh they convert him to they convert him to a defensive back and so he came out to and and you know and and he's competing for for a spot and the reason I want to talk about him in p
articular is because I think he's a guy that can really be a Difference Maker especially in depth he's a guy that you know Georgia a lot of people are talking about um you've got you know jonell Aguero you got Jake Pope you got you know obviously Malachi Starks you got now KJ Balon you got all these guys you know in this safety like space and um one of the things that I thought was interesting that Kirby Smart said uh when he was talking about jakori Thomas he said I I feel like he's had a good
spring thus far as as far as picking things up which is really important when you've converted to a position now you're in your third spring your third year um that's the real key it's now it becomes a lot more mental than it is physical you have the speed of the game you have all that stuff it's all mental and he said um he's competing at two positions so he's a dual train guy getting more mental reps at Star since he hasn't played that while also getting reps at safety I'm excited to see him h
is first scrimmage this Saturday so jakori Thomas uh Kirby maybe dropped a little bit of nugget right there around the depth at the star position we talked about that position on this show quite a few times um about George's need uh for you know you mentioned you know maybe maybe dalon Everett converts and plays um some of that position it sounds like jakori Thomas is another guy that's getting um that's getting reps that Kirby Smart said himself he's getting reps as star and he hasn't played it
so it's a lot of mental reps um I love jakori Thomas' attitude uh about this you know he he's a guy who again um some of these guys highly recruited they come in um and now he's you know converted to a new position has spent two years having to learn it now he's trying to compete for a spot and I love this quote from him where he said my is to keep competing to keep growing every day just take everything it comes um that's the mentality that you want from a guy like that that is going to be a k
ey X Factor piece in depth at that position especially if he can pick it up I mean he has the size and the speed um to really make a difference at that position uh if he can pick it up and you know you know Georgia it's it's a spot that George is thin at it's a spot that George is going to be trying a number of different guys at and so want to give a shout out to jakori Thomas I loved his response and I loved what Kirby had to say about him this week too amen that's good stuff awesome um okay Co
ach you want to talk about a guy who maybe wasn't as under the radar coming into spring uh because of what he did in uh in an SEC Championship game but but is a guy that I think you know um a lot of people need to take notice of um who are we talking about Coach well I don't want to compare him to anybody but you know you want to look at somebody that can be a playmaker that can be bad matchup for either outside linebackers trying to cover him or even Nicholls trying to cover him and uh I think
what people are excited about is because we haven't got a chance to see him consistently yet we saw spurts of it in the Florida State game once they were up really big but it gave us a chance to watch him play and actually get reps on film um but I mean where I saw to me that made me realize this kid has got the it Factor was when he made that punt return against Alabama so you know when I'm looking at just like right here to me the the thing that really caught my attention was the fact there wa
s no fear in him coming up to catch that punt even though he had heat right in front of him but what I noticed is the quick twitch his ability to make him put his foot in the ground and accelerate and he is fast I mean he is absolutely a Speedster what he's going to get better at as the years go on is he's not going to run right into a Defender he's going to be able to make a Miss here's the catch for the touchdown running the slot fade you know and this is plays that we have seen you know lab m
akoni run we've seen Dominic love it run caught it for it in the Georgia Tech game this is something that you know who that last one I'm sorry you know who this one looks a lot like ad Mitchell that's ad Mitchell yeah it does you know and the thing is Anthony's a little bit taller than even lad was in the slot what I love to see is that his opportunities to run the slot Fade to catch the ball um you know on swing routes from the slot position to get the reverse uh like we saw a lot from lad as w
ell but like I said to me Anthony Evans is his own player I'm not comparing him to Lad whatsoever but what I do say is he checks all the boxes he's fast he has the ability to move very quickly in space he has quick twitch he can put his foot in the ground and change Speed without losing any ground whatsoever losing speed and uh he's just one of those that I think you know I think people are excited about him they just don't know what he can bring to the table and I'm going to go ahead and say it
I think he really helps contribute to the the wide receiver room this year it's going to be somebody we're going to be talking about in October November is being a solid contributor to Our receiver Corp love it can't wait well we'll keep talking about xfactor players on the show um so so tune in we'll we'll talk about more of those as we go on uh heading toward gday on April the 13th um and uh you know we'll have an opportunity to see basically nothing um which but we but you do see you know I
I remember uh ad Mitchell I just mentioned ad Mitchell um you know his his gday as a true freshman I remember you know he made um a couple of spectacular catches a couple touchdown catches really flashed and then you know we saw we saw what he did um in that National Championship run so you can see some guys that that really flash and and turn into it um or you can see Jonathan rump you folks folks if you haven't been around for a while Jonathan rump was going to be he was going to be the next J
erry r coming out of uh Georgia's gday and um yeah go look it up it's interesting no but I'm excited to see what these guys I'm excit to see what these guys do on gday you know I remember that spring game too because ad Don and Mitchell was uh heavily counted on that day because it was they were down in the receiver Corp had a lot of kids hurt and I remember that's that's very similar to what the tight end room was like you could tell that they were having Adon was was having to struggle a littl
e bit because they were throwing to him it's every big play they wanted to throw he had to be the reer underneath the ball but yeah yeah that's tough all right well one a a little quick recruiting nugget before we get out of here uh with y'all so um Justice Terry five star for Manchester Georgia um five star defensive line went out to USC and Lincoln Riley uh decided to bring in the big guns um Aaron Donald which is for my money the greatest uh defensive linan ever played in the NFL one of the t
op in my opinion one of the top 10 players to ever play the game um but but I will also say um did not go to USC pit grad uh pit pit I don't know if he graduated pit pit but a a pit panther Aaron Donald uh Lincoln riy brought him over uh because Lincoln riy has um has hired Eric Henderson who was the defensive line coach of the LA Rams who was Aaron Donald's defensive line coach and Justin ter Justice Terry flipped to USC um coach what do you make of this flip first of all and then should should
people care I mean let's just say this should people care really care about flips and recruiting and all that stuff in March the answer is a resounding no I even tweeted that I think you almost quoted my first line of the Tweet of the fact of why in the world are we getting so caught up in the drama of a recruiting Trail in March when realistically we know I would almost bet my paycheck that he is going to end up flipping now he may not flip to come back to Georgia but he's going to flip I I ju
st don't see him staying at USC honestly I think he got out there and saw the Starlight he saw the California coast he saw all the glim and glamor but he is thousands of miles from home and here is a 17y old young man 18y old probably and he is trying to make the decision of his life and all of a sudden he got Star Struck and I think that's probably what fit that that bill so honestly to tell you the truth to answer your question a resounding no I'm not worried about it one bit honestly um it'll
all come out in the wash and like I said if he does stay out there more power to him he wasn't deserving I guess to be at the University of Georgia that's the way I look at it now until they put pen and it dries on the ink to their National letter of Not only was only I can't let that bother me yeah and not only was it a was it a a resounding You Know Not only was it a Glitz and glamour of Hollywood and all that stuff but Lincoln Riley he he made an interesting comment after all after he landed
all these recruits over the weekend um he said that USC's nil has taken monster leaps in the last several months there's only one way nil can take a monster leap uh and that's if you got monster cash coming into it and ex and so yeah I agree with you I think uh I think there was certainly you know probably a lot of weight put on that a lot of weight put on guys like Aaron Donald um you know like I mentioned uh Eric Henderson coming from the the Rams like all that stuff Georgia fans hear me out
listen listen to me you should not care about recruiting in March number one number two if you think that Kirby Smart is going to get put in a bag stuffed in a locker for a defensive lineman by Lincoln Riley you're out of your mind it just ain't gonna happen without a doubt it just ain't gonna happen so stay you know stay vigilant Keep calm carry on um and listen enjoy it if you're into recruiting we love recruiting we'll talk about recruiting a lot on this show um but this ain't the recruiting
this ain't you know this ain't the recruiting of uh this ain't your daddy's recruiting this is no this is you know you have you have uh you have universities being very strategic around what they offer when they offer it when they have guys on and by the way Justice Terry flipped to uh to USC and then uh there reports that he's going to be right back in Athens for a visit so there's also exactly I call it riding the roller coaster because when you come down to it you know I deal with those kind
of kids every day I mean to make a rational decision at their age just don't get on the roller coaster with them let them have their fun but eventually the people who are in power are going to make sure that if he's supposed to be at the University of Georgia next year then it will definitely be happening so don't worry awesome well so remember subscribe to the show do us a favor subscribe follow coach Hayes and subscribe to his channel coach ha huddle Hudl H Co coach ha huddle you can win this
Carson Beck autograph football authenticated autograph football by potentially future Heisman winner at least a candidate um before we get out here coach it's spring break around these parts uh in Georgia uh I want to hear I want to hear your best spring break memory that you have oh my goodness H I would have to say it was actually towards the end of well was my high school senior year uh you know one of those things where you have the freedom to be able to go a good piece from the house this w
as back in the early 90s so we of course go to Panama City Beach that was just you know the place to go from where we were in chatuga County and uh I remember I was driving a car down the road and it was such a cool thing we had a convertible so we thought we were the it and uh we had a bunch of people I had the convertible top down and of course you got to think about up to this point I had never gotten in trouble believe it or not I know it sounds crazy but I had really never gotten any massiv
e trouble never even been stopped for a ticket and uh so I'm you know 18 years of age and about to turn 18 actually and I'm driving down the road and I remember you know know just being feeling like it the world was in front of me now and the guy sitting up on the back of the car and all of a sudden we get pulled over on the side of the road so not only do I not have my license I don't have my license on me I'm driving somebody else's car and we get pulled over in Panama City Beach on the main s
trip where everybody's you know cruising around at that time so it was a very embarrassing moment for me and I'm trying to keep this like PG because obviously I could go another route but you know I'm trying dog dispatch after dark dog dispatch after dark soon and I don't know I I do have I think some of my my students actually have subscribed to our show so I'm going to have to I'm going to have to stay on the PG side of things for right now but anyhow the uh the I just remember just how embarr
assed I was sitting there getting a ticket for not being in my car not having my license and you know the first time really I'd ever gotten in trouble I didn't even know how to handle it but you know so that was that was very discouraging and very embarrassing for me no doubt well how about you oh man thanks for sharing [Music] you know being like being like high schoolers well the good news is he jumped Nothing Hurt jumped off the falls the water it was fine the the the the bad part was we were
