In a recent interview with World Rugby's official
website, former All Blacks captain Richie McCaw shared his thoughts on the upcoming
2023 World Cup in France. However, when it came to naming his favorites
to win the prestigious Webb Ellis Cup, McCaw surprisingly overlooked the defending champions,
the Springboks. As the countdown to France 2023 reached 100
days, McCaw discussed the potential contenders for the title. While he mentioned several teams as strong
contenders, he conspicuously omitte
d any mention of the Springboks, who achieved glory in the
previous edition. “When you look at the top 10 in the rankings,
results have shown that the teams ranked seven, eight and nine have got the ability to knock
over one of the big guys, once. But to go on and win it, you need to do that
three weeks in a row and I am not sure some of those teams have got the ability to do
that,” McCaw said. “The good thing is those teams all could
get into a quarter-final and cause some real carnage. And if
you do get a couple of results like
that it might open the door for someone else to have a bit of a run and get more belief
that they can actually do it. I think that’s what’s made the lead-up

Macaw is entitled to his opinion. RUGBY is all about belief and mentally , the right mind set and about being the fittest team. Those attributes will take any team along way. It also depends what happens on the day and when it comes to the knockout stages, anything is possible. I believe our Boks have those attributes and will come out on top.❤❤

McCaw like everyone else, is looking at world cup draw and wondering how on Earth could Ireland or South Africa win the competition given the onslaught required just to reach a semi final. The draw is insane. Think SA could do it, given potential replacements, and injury call ups if required, do not dramatically affect the game plans. But the level of competition means anything can happen on that side of the draw.
