Unboxing the New COBB AOS | Ford Focus ST

Cobb has released an Air Oil Separator kit for the Ford Focus ST that works by feeding the oil vapors back into the crank case behind the PCV plate so clean air can fee back into the intake. So if you are tired of emptying your catch cans, this new system keeps your vented air clean and doesn't need to be cleaned. 👇Get your Air Oil Separators Below👇 🟥Ford Focus ST - https://hubs.li/Q02jBpTT0 🟦Ford Focus RS - https://hubs.li/Q02jBqt80 🟢Ford EcoBoost Mustang - https://hubs.li/Q02jBqL30 / / / Everything you need to turn up the power in your car can be found at www.EdgeAutosport.com If you have questions, give us a call or send in an email, we would love to help! . . . _________________________________________________________________________ We are Edge Autosport. ladies and gentlemen welcome to another very informative video from your friends at Edge autosport.com we have Cobb's new air oil separator kit for the Focus ST I wanted to show this to you guys because this is kind of the first air oil separator kit on the market that uh that we've seen and it works a little bit differently than a traditional catch can setup so let's go through it we love cob Parts obviously uh they make really cool stuff they're heavily involved in the Focus ST world so they a
lso make this thing for the Mustang EcoBoost and the Focus RS the only difference is the bracket otherwise the exact same construction of the kit is involved here this is the core of the kit right here so I've left this a little bit uh unscrewed here so I can easily take it apart as you can see it's a two-piece design here this is where all of the gunk is going to kind of collect now the point of an air oil separator is that you're not collecting a bunch of Gunk you're sending it back into the c
rank case you know uh the PCV system does not have anything in the middle between it and the intake manifold so this catches uh all of those oil Vapors that are created in the crank case uh that normally gets sent back into the intake system to be recycled this is going to catch it and uh remove the you know contaminants that are associated with with recycling that air so instead of your valves getting all gunky and everything it's going to send all those oil Vapors back down into the crank case
now how it does it is your PCV system just goes straight from the intake manifold or sorry from the the Breather plate the the PCV plate on the Block straight into the intake manifold what this is going to do is intercept it and take that that crank case vent into here this is a swirl pot design so it goes in here swirls around goes to the bottom there's a fitting located on the top that goes back to the intake manifold so all that pressure goes back into the intake manifold under vacuum and th
e bottom of the can right here then recirculates that oil Vapor back into the crank case now under boost this top fitting there's a check valve in here a ball style check valve built into the top part of the can and under boost it blocks the boosted air flow from coming back into here and into the crank case to create that pressure so uh so it blocks that so this is only really working under vacuum and it's only for the PCB system now one of the unique uh things to make this thing work is you'll
see that this is kind of sort of the non-traditional part of this whole kit this is what looks like a PCB plate but it it is different obviously it has a open face and open on the back end too that's because this is an adapter you actually take the factory PCV plate off put this onto the block and put the factory PCV plate back on and so this is doing everything that the factory PCV plate is doing but allowing it to drain back in from the bottom of the can so that is the difference between a ca
tch can and this setup I've I've gotten a radium plate to kind of show you the difference here we sell a ton of these this is a more traditional setup where that PCV valve is replaced here goes to a catch can and then that catch can can revert back to the intake manifold as well the difference is the catch can is catching all that Gunk all that oil vapor and storing it whereas this is sending it back into the crank case so that is the fundamental difference of this kit it's you know it's emissio
ns friendly it's factory functionality it just keeps your intake system clean that's the number one job of this kit I love this kit I mean the fittings are like speaking of radium I love radium for the quality it reminds me of that of that kit of all the radium Parts it's very very similar in construction and quality um so you can't go wrong with this kit the fittings are beautiful the uh you know the Can construction is just great so it's a very complete kit all the hardware is included of cour
se some cob stickers you got a cob EO number uh to place in the vehicle if if you want as well so that about does it hopefully that helps you understand what this kit is all about we're excited to bring this kit to you at Edge autosport.com head over and check it out if you have any questions let us know in the comments we'll see you next time

Intro animation is 🔥

@ryancarter7655

Legit just ordered this from you guys this morning and then you make a video the same day..go figure 😂

@rustybrown771

Sooo like a catch can but you don’t have to empty it because it recirculates. That’s actually really convenient.

@kazeshyam4930

I’ve been waiting for this videos since Cobb brought this. Please do an install video.

@firstnamelastname5897

I'll be getting one of these!

@jeffreycastillo8386

Best place to tune your rides .

@Roddy451

It was about time the algorithm did something about this... I can finally remove the coffee can with the steel sponge from under the hood! I've been making a lot of "cappuccino" this winter.

@ericalderson8702

Can you do an install video on the ST?

@RthereNEusernames

Seems pretty awesome. I was going to do a blast this spring and install a catch can after that, but perhaps this is the better option. Fairly noob question here, but why is recirculating the gunk into the crankcase okay? Rather than it accumulating on the valves, it will accumulate in the crankcase - is there no negative to that? It just gets burned off?

@azmavhockey3

Do you have to run one or the other or can you run both?

@RonnyRoice

Any more 2022+ WRX content ??

@bacchusthompson5834

So… Can I run this instead of the Radium Plate and Catch Cans which is recommended by BNR for the 67 & 71

@rommac1907

Cool product! How much does it cost? How long does it takes to install? Is it difficult to install? How does it compares to catch cans in costs, install difficulty and overall design?

@armandsmith5183

It’s a freaking pain to install, lol

@jerryyanezst2

Where can I get this?
