(lively music) - Sing! Learn! Create! And play in Caitie's Classroom. Hi everybody. Welcome to the classroom. It's great to see you. Look at this. It's an underwater diorama. I made it out of an old shoebox and some paper and glue and other fun things. You could make one at home too. What do you see in this diorama? There's some underwater plants, some shells and underwater animals. There's lots of different kinds of animals that live underwater. Some are big, the biggest in the whole world. And
some have eight arms. And new underwater animals are still being discovered. There's a lot going on underneath the surface. We can go on an underwater adventure together but first, let's wave a big hello to all of our friends. We can swim over here. (chuckling) And we'll wave and sing. and swim like an octopus. (chuckling) It must be interesting to have eight arms. Great job, everybody. Let's keep swimming and find another underwater animal. Swim, swim. I wonder what we'll see next. Oh. We found something. What underwater animal is this? It's called a puffer fish. Can you guess why it's called a puffer fish? Because it can puff up like a ball. A puffer fish can go from a little fish to a big fish really quickly by pumping water into its stomach. It makes itself big like this
to protect itself. Let's pretend to be a puffer fish, everybody. Swim like a little puffer fish. Then uh oh. Big puffer fish. Puff out your cheeks. (chuckling) Great puffer fish, everybody. Let's find one more underwater animal. Let's swim. Do you see anything? Oh. We found something. This is an interesting looking animal. Can you guess what it's called? When they move their feet, they move across the ocean floor. Can you move like a starfish? That's fun. (chuckling) Great job, everybody. We found lots of amazing underwater animals. Let's make a picture of the animals we saw. I'll show you how you can make a picture look like it's underwater with some crayons and some watercolor paints. We have our
octopus and puffer fish and starfish all drawn with crayons. We can add in some waves with a blue crayon. We'll do some bubbles. And we can make it look like it's really underwater with blue watercolor paint. Look at this. Oh. The watercolor doesn't stick to the crayon, so we can brush it over everything and it makes it looks like it's really underwater. Look at that! Isn't it neat? (chuckling) Wow. Our animals are now underwater. Oh. Let's sing a song about some underwater animals all together.

I'll show you how you can make a swimming fish craft like this at home. Let's gather the things we need. Some things we need for this craft are Popsicle sticks, a paintbrush, paper pl
ates and a grownup. To start, we will paint our paper plates. The bottom half of one paper plate, we'll paint a sandy brown color, like the ocean floor and the top half of another paper plate, we'll paint a blue color so it looks like the ocean. And once they're all painted, we'll leave them to dry and once they're dry, you can cut out the sandy part of the paper plate. That is going to go over top of the blue plate like that and on the blue plate, we have to carefully cut a line across the bott
om half of the plate. You might need to get a grownup to help you with that part. That's gonna be where our fish comes through. To make our fish, we'll use a piece of construction paper. You can use any color you like. We can use this pink one. And I like tracing something circular, I have a bottle cap here, it makes it nice and easy to make a fish shape. Make some fishy lips, some fish fins. And a tail. There we go. Then once you've cut that out, you can decorate it a little bit and I cut out a
little fin here for our fish too. We can glue that on like this. And how about we glue an eye too? A nice medium-shaped eye for our fish. There we go. And to finish it off, we're gonna stick our fish onto a Popsicle stick. That's what we're gonna hold to make our fish swim in the sea. There we go. Our fish is ready to go. We just need to decorate our underwater scene a little bit. I cut out some pieces of green construction paper here to make some plants. Some dark green and light green. We can
cut out all sorts of different shapes to build your underwater scene. How about some orange coral? Yeah. There we go. Let's decorate the sandy part, the bottom part of our ocean scene. There we go. And we'll glue that onto the bottom part of our blue plate. Lots of blue, stick it on like that. There, it's looking good and now, we can decorate the sand a little bit just by putting some little polka dots. It makes it look a little more like sand. That looks good. And now it's ready for our fish.
We put the fish into that cut we made. We can see on the back sticking through. We move the Popsicle stick to move our fish. (chuckling) You can make this swimming fish craft at home. You can make other underwater animals too. Like an octopus with eight arms. Or a turtle. I can't wait to see what underwater animal you choose to make for your swimming craft.
