This happened a lot during the time I worked in restaurants. As a chef I scalded my arm with a load of boiling mushroom soup that caused a huge blister bubble the size of a golf ball on my arm and I was told to finish the shift. Another chef burned his arm with oil and couldn't move his hand at all. He went home early and when he returned the next day he was questioned why he left early. After he explained, a slightly higher up chef said he burnt his arm worse and still worked. There's nothing to be proud about the chance you could have a serious injury and still worked. Your life is more important than a job.
