Hey there,
Clay Archer, CEO, DPC technology. And today I've got a good one for you. We've got the long awaited G5 ultra turret
and the G5 Ultra Dome. going to throw them up on a test rig.
We're going to poke. We're going to prod them. We're going to weigh
them. We're going to measure them. And we're going to tell you
which one is probably right for you. first off,
thanks so much for all the feedback in the forums about what
you want to see tested in these cameras. I got so much great feedback. i
t was amazing
and I have a lot to test here. But to that end,
this is going to be a little bit different Video
I'm going to do it in two sections. I'm going to do indoors, where
I'm going to compare both the turret and the dome to all the comparable
indoor cameras. and then I'm going to do it outdoors,
where I'm going to compare the turret to the other cameras. So the G5 dome will only be in the indoor,
while the G5 turret will be in both videos. you can expect that outdoor video
coming up very
quickly after this first one posts, but I kind of wanted to do
in that logical manager, because I think a lot of people are going to use
this turret in both indoors and outdoors. one more thing about the questions. I'm going to answer
all the obvious questions during the video,
but I'll put a section at the end. You want to wait for Roman
to ask all the questions that probably don't have a spot
inside this video. So at the end,
we'll go through the questions and make sure everything you asked
is
answered. let's jump real quickly into the mounting
options for these two cameras. There's a lot of questions about a
the dongle, the dongle link. I'm gonna throw up a couple images
and some, some B-roll here of how long the dongles are
and kind of a size comparison of these cameras
next to you, some Hikvision cameras. So you can see how much smaller
these cameras are. You know, first impressions
when you pull these out of the boxes. Well, these are really small,
really discreet cameras. And a
lot of other questions have been
about the mounting options for these two obviously with these turret type cameras,
the cable is affixed to the back. You can't cut it or change it. It is actually just built into the
into the device. But with that the RJ 45 connector
and its weatherproofing at the end of that
cable is a little bit larger. And so you're going to
if you're going to mount this, and you're going to cut through
whatever you're mounting it to you, you're going to have to make bigger ho
les
than you normally would. so in this case,
the turret, cable is a little smaller and it will fit into a one inch, hole,
whereas the dome is a little bit larger. it was a 1.5in hole
to get that cable through the opening. they both have really nice
mounting systems right out of the gate. I do think that the turrets
mounting is a little easier. It's plastic piece. That's easy to screw down,
and then you can affix to it. If you're going through a ceiling tile,
you would put a backing plate on it.
the dome is a little metal piece that actually keys in
it will click on to the back of the unit. again, it's really easy to do to
I think that the turrets is a little bit better system know, just after, you know, a few minutes of experience
with it in one mounting. but there are a lot of questions
about accessories. and I would go to store unified.com. I'll put a link in the description down
below to take a look
at the different accessories. There are a couple of different
junction boxes that h
ave already come out with these units,
and I would assume there's going to be more to one other question
I got a lot was the color. They only come in white at this point,
but I'm assuming that they probably will come in with black as well
going forward. So with that being said,
we threw them up on the board with an eye bullet, a G5 bullet, a G5 dome, a G4 dome, a G5 flex, and then the G5 ultra turret
and the G5 Ultra Dome. And we threw that up in our normal rig
position and we'll jump into the s
oftware. Now we'll kind of take a look
and see what it looks like. So here we are in the day and you can see
that we have all the cameras up here. The top two are the ultra and the turret. We've got the G5 flex over here. And then I've got the G4 dome,
the G5 dome, the G5 bullet and the I bullet. first thing that jumped out to me
is how wide the G5 turret is. it really is getting from side to side here, just from a really,
really wide field of view. a couple things to look out here
is outside of
this window, you can see the the wind's blowing and there's a little
bit of, of chop on the, on the pond there. and you'll see
as I go through the different ones, you know, obviously a lot of people ask
about the cast on the dome and you can see a little bit of that kind of haze there,
but I'm seeing through to the, the water and it looks really nice,
you know, pretty comparable image there. I will say that it is a little wider
on the, turret than it is on the bullet. you know, and when I say a
little wider,
it's it's actually quite a bit wider. They're not exactly on the same axis,
but I'm getting way over here into the corner
and way over here, by the TVs. You know,
they're twisted a little bit here, but I can tell you
that this is actually quite wide. but you look at both of them in comparison
to the G5 flex and, you know, it's there's quite a bit
more on this right hand side here. but the other glaring observation to me is
these are all three $129 cameras, is that they're very sim
ilar. Like, you know, for most people, I think
your form factor and your mounting options are probably going to be more of a factor
on which one of these you choose. If I'm just choosing on image quality
To my eye and I'm going to get in here
and pixel peep on this. I think that the ultra turret
is probably the best image. And we'll go down here to the eye chart
and we'll see. You know we're at line six here. And that's something DF Aussie P you know and this is obviously going
to get compressed
and stuff on YouTube. So I'm not quite sure
that's a fair comparison but same here. Edify something P so it's that same line,
you know, about the same distance there. let me let it, compress
itself a little bit there and look better, but, and then if I go into the flex, same thing ETF, CCP, FEC, you know,
the flex is also a little bit closer on axis there, but I think they're
all probably pretty similar. But the G5 ultra turret to me
looks a little bit sharper. Like if I look in this keyboard
here and I go over to the flex
and I look at the keyboard. So the little less detail in that keyboard
there on the flex, it's a margin call. I really think, honestly, you're going to make this decision
based off of what your particular needs are, especially if you're just doing
daytime imaging just like this. I can go into the G4 dome. You'll see. The G4
dome to me is a little bit milk year. It's not as quite as crisp of an image as the G5 Dome Ultra,
and the G5 dome here as well. Looks a little
crisper,
But you will notice on both the G4 buffer and the G5 dome,
the field of view is a little bit narrower,
just kind of like the G5 Dome Ultra. so that being said, I think all three of
those are still good options. If you were running G4 dome,
I would not get rid of this G4 dome for the G5 five Dome Ultra. I don't think it's that big of a deal. The same reason I have not updated my G4
domes. The G5 domes. I just don't know that there's
enough difference in them to justify it. And lastly, I
have the G5 bullet and the eye bullet. and you can see right off the bat
with the I bullet, I'm getting detections. It's noticing everybody's a human. I think obviously this is probably
the nicest camera by a long shot here. And it's also triple the price. you know, if I'm looking at the G5
bullet versus the G5 turret, which I think is going to be a pretty good
competition outdoors, I don't think there's enough in it to make me buy
the G5 bullet over the G5 turret indoors. I get all this width.
If you look at the at the lake over there,
I'm getting the same detail in the, G5 bullet, but the bullet is so zoomed in that I'm missing
all this extra information on the sides. I'm interested to see how these three compare outside,
but inside I really think the G5 turret, if you were going to look at those two, is probably the winner over
any of the bullets. and honestly, the way I'm looking at it
during the daytime, I think the G5 turret is probably
the winner here as well. the same price as
the flex. The same price as the dome at $129. I think it's mount
does a little bit better. I think the dongle, is a little smaller
to get through a hole if you're mounting it on drywall
or something other than a ceiling tile. so during the day,
I think I'm going to give a slight victory here to the G5 Turret Ultra. And what we'll do is we'll wait for it to be dark, and we'll compare
all these cameras at night. All right. Through the magic of YouTube. It is now pitch black outside. It's 8:00 at
night, and we're going to dive right in
and take a look at these cameras at night. Just quickly, I will mention again. It never really gets pitch
black in my office. There's a lot of phantom power
lights all around, and there's a couple of, like, emergency
exit lights that don't ever go off. but I think it's pretty typical
of most office space areas. I will tell you that if you were to try
and walk out there right now, if there was something on the floor,
you would trip over it, not see it. It i
s that dark to the eye. Obviously, these cameras
are pretty sensitive to light, and, you'll see more in these images
than you will really in real life. But let's jump in real quick. So I've got the same, seven cameras up,
and I'm going to leave them completely. I've got air turned off
on all of the cameras right now, just to give you kind of a baseline
of what things look like. there is behind underneath these cameras,
there is a glass window. And in that room it's our reception area. There is a
light
that never goes off in there. So you are seeing like on the eye chart,
there is some light coming from that room. This is also our,
our meeting room over here. And there is a light in there
that never goes off as well. And over here and the corner that is
actually me filming this in my office. the stuff coming through the windows
on the, on the, on the lake is just lights on the lake. And, you'll see it's
really dark out there, but the cameras do pick up quite a bit of,
light from the la
ke. So this is the the the dome ultra. and, you know, this is a decent image. I'm not really. You know, I'm not blown away
by this image. I'm not,
you know, underwhelmed by this image. It's it's it's rendering everything
pretty well. The one thing about domes. And you will see, you know,
and these LEDs that are on, Sean's desk here, there is a little bit of a
of a flare off of the of the dome cover. You'll notice that on all the domes that
they, they tend to disperse the light. look over here at
this DVC on the door. This is something I'll come back to again
and again. This is rendered pretty well,
and I think that's pretty pretty visible. but you know, they're all going to render
that a little bit differently. I will go over to the G5 Turret
Ultra same thing. Unfortunately, the,
the cable for the switch is up there, but you can see the DPC pretty well. You can see out here that you can start
to see some of the lights there, maybe a little crisper,
these LED lights. Again, this doesn'
t have the cover on it. So I think it does
render more true of an image. and I'll go over to the G5 flex. Honestly, this G5 flex has really always
been a kind of over performer in my books. And again, it looks pretty good. I don't know if it's as good as the turret, but you know, it's
rendering the DPC on the door really well. You can see actually the lights here,
because it's a little bit lower down in the mount. You can see the lights on the other
side of the pond, which look quite nice. I thi
nk this is a pretty decent
image as well. But, you know, these three cameras
throughout this whole test seem very, very similar to me. And I almost feel like the G5 Ultra's are just kind of a continuation, maybe a little different mount system
of a very similar to a G5 flex. And I think I'll keep coming back
to that again and again as we kind of go through the rest of this review. If I go in to the dome, the G4, this is where you really start
to see the differences. Now, I think this is a pretty
usable
image. And actually,
you know, it's diving into the the darks pretty well,
but you could just see this noise and I'm not sure how that's going to translate to YouTube,
but there's just very big grain. And it's this is a really noisy image. And now you know it. Could I see
somebody walking into this room? I probably could and I would,
I probably would be able to do what I need to do to get an image of somebody, but
this is not as nice of an image, for sure. I'll go to the G5 dome a littl
e darker,
but the noise is gone. I can see the DPC over here. The pond looks really nice. I think this is a good a good image. And I will say the G5 of G5 dome regular. No, not Ultra Dome of all of the domes
that I have here is doing the best job of rendering,
through the dome. So we'll turn on air
and see if that that holds true. And the G5 bullet doing pretty nicely there. And we'll go to the eye bullet,
which obviously it's the most expensive of the cameras here. and it's it's doing a nice j
ob. I can actually see the, the the checkerboard of the, of the carpet
here, which is a little difficult to do. It's, you know, this is still a grainy,
you know, image as well. because there's not much light here. There is the light coming from my room. This is a very dim light over here, and there's just a little tiny
bit of light coming through the room. And you can see on how far away these
lights are on the other side of the lake. This is a long way that's lighting up that area
that makes it
kind of look like it's lit. so that's it. With the iris off, I'm going to go ahead
and turn on the air emitters in the G5 turret. And I'm going to go to auto on that
and just let it do its thing. And this is the G5 turret just by itself. And you know, none of the other I.R. emitters are on, on any of the cameras. They're all and obviously in De mode. And I've made sure that I turned off all the air
emitters in the other rooms as well. So there's nothing that's spilling over. this to me is a rea
lly nice image,
and I think this is probably something that most everybody
that is looking at this camera is probably saying,
hey, I don't like the domes because they cast a little bit of a,
of a, of a haze on the IR emitter. This looks really good to me. And so, you know, I was looking for
to see how far or what the IR emitter strength on this
is compared to the previous generation of domes, and it doesn't have
a listing on the website yet. I'll have a all of the details of these
in a blog arti
cle that I post below. but I'm assuming this is casting this
this wall over here is probably 30ft, maybe 40ft, 30ft away from this camera. And it's doing a nice job of,
of lighting up that wall. So, it is at least ten meters, 30ft
to that wall. And,
doing a really nice job of casting that. So I would be pretty happy
with the strength. Look, the the the quality. This image is completely fine to me. If somebody was coming in here
to steal something, I could see every bit of them
in all the detail
. So I'm pretty happy with that. So let's go ahead and go and turn that
IR emitter off in the turret. And we'll just go to custom and we'll bring this threshold
always off. And then we'll go into the dome
and we'll take a look at the dome, and we'll put that into auto,
you will see the classic haze that a dome creates. Now this is not bad. This is actually, you know, decent. Again, I would use this.
I wouldn't have a problem with this. But if you compare this
and I'll go ahead and turn them both
on. Obviously both IR emitters
are going to be emitting here, but just so that you can see them side by side
again, I'll put this one on as well. And you can see that there's just so much more clarity in the turret,
than the dome. And, you know, that's this is really a pretty good apples
to apples comparison here. you know, it wouldn't be strange to,
to have two IR emitters in the same room. you know, typically in this room, I've got
four cameras, one in each four corners. And so there's IR jus
t all over the room. So two, two air
emitters and, next to each other probably is not going to overdo this,
you know, at any appreciable level. But, you know, this is a really nice image
compared to this image. So, you know, your mileage
may vary there, but, I truly think that that is a
that's a game changer for the turret and, definitely makes it a, a good addition
in my book to, ubiquitous arsenal. I'm going to go ahead
and, I'll turn off the Dome Ultra emitter, and I will compare it, the flux
to the. Turret. And because I think
that I honestly feel like this G5 flex and these ultras are the they're the real kind of peers to one
another. and I will say
that the image of the flex is good. It really is. It's a good image,
but I think that the image out of the ultra
is just a little bit better. So they take that. For what it's worth,
I think it's a margin call. I think it's a margin call on all of these images, all these cameras
and all these sensors. I really feel like there's just dif
ferent,
except for the AI bullet. I think there's just different flavors
I think the, the, the G5 turret, though, is a little tiny bit of a winner
here in this in this example, I'll go ahead and turn off the flex,
give you one more shot at that if you want to freeze frame
and kind of pixel peep there. But I think those are pretty similar. And I'll give it just a marginal
victory to the turret. And we'll go ahead, turn that guy off and we will turn on the G5 dome. This is the classic G5 dome. And
compare it to turret. And so that one will go off this one too. Come on in my G5 dome. You know people complain about the dome. My G5 dome has always done a real nice job of having
not having that cast or that haze on it. And I think this was a really good
rendition. You know, if you pixel it is a little hazier than the
than the turret without anything on it. So I still think in this, in this,
you know, comparison, I would pick the turret over the dome, both thumbs and the G5 dome is $50 more,
so I don't know that
I would choose this one over this one. I think the G5 turret is definitely the
clear winner for me in this comparison. I'll leave the outside comparisons
for for the G5 bullet and the AI bullet at night for the follow up video
that I compare all these guys outside. But as far as inside at night, I think the clear winner for me here in
this comparison is the G5 turret. I think it is
what people have been asking for, you know, just a better form factor. Same image sensor, same
price,
better form factor for nighttime viewing. So if I had somewhere where I am
trying to surveil at night indoors, I think the clear winner for me
is the G5 Turret Ultra. So that's going to wrap it up for tonight. Let's get to your questions. All right. So I want to thank you for putting in
so many questions this week. I'm going to go rapid fire
through the questions I got about the turrets
and the domes this week. So first on the turret somebody asked me
can it be disassembled to paint it r
eally can't. The two pieces
aren't designed to come apart but I will say there are images of a black
turret out there. I'm assuming at some point
that will be released. What is it made of? They're aluminum,
and they have polycarbonate. the the turret has a polycarbonate base,
and the dome has a polycarbonate cover. if you're familiar with ubiquity,
you'll be familiar with and build quality. It's really nice,
but very similar to their other products. Can you unplug the dongle? No, the extension c
able with the, RJ 45
and on it is fixed to the motherboard. don't think there's
anything serviceable there. Can you cut the cord? no, I would not recommend cutting the cord and putting the extension
on the end of it, but, I my suggestion there would be to join the Reddit groups,
and I'm sure somebody will along once. license plate and face detections. No, it does not have those,
jumping this off here real quick. It's got person, vehicle
and animal detection on both of them. The turret has smoke
alarm collar, baby crying. There is no microphone on the, dome,
But the both of them have those same detections. why the smaller sensor? My assumption of the smaller sensor is
they wanted to come in at this price point at $189. I think, you can see the image quality
is it's good enough for most. I kind of like in this, this
the Camry. It's the accord. It's the it's the one that you're going
to put a ton of them out there, they didn't want to go too expensive
because they wanted everybody to be
able
to get that part of the ecosystem. I have a feeling they're going to do
really well with both of these, could have they've done
with a better sensor. Everybody could always do
with a better sensor. But is the sensor good enough? Yes, it is. I'm pretty sure that that was the play
that they're making there. I would assume that at some point
you'll probably get a turret and a dome with a bigger sensor. that's just speculation, glare in the dome
camera. The dome cover. I kind of went over that
in the nighttime
review. It is there. I don't think it's horrible. I, you know, honestly, the G5 regular G5,
I think did a little bit better than my G5,
ultra did, dome, at this point I don't think that's as big of a deal
as it was back in the G3 generation. it's just a part of a feature
of a dome camera city. Like the look in the security,
having the thing at covered. Or do you like the look of the turret? turrets versus dome? I think in both, instances,
I like the turret. if I had a dollar for
every time
somebody asked me what the when the turret was going to come out,
I'd be a rich person. And I have not really been
on the turret wagon. But I will tell you,
after testing these two, cameras, I really am a turret fan,
It really is a nice camera. I think it's got a lot of flexibility. I think they're going
to sell the heck out of it. And you can see in both of, challenges,
both day and night. it was my obvious choice there. I will say there field of vision,
if you look at their specs a
re identical. For some reason,
it just seemed to me optically wider think that might just be an optical
illusion. But anyways, turrets versus dome for me at this point
I think it's turrets. next are these comparable to G5
and I pros. know. They are not comparable. They are the lower line
obviously the ultra kind of being the the a value driven line. I don't think they compare
well to the I Pro or the G5 Pro, but I am going to throw them up on
the board. We're going to test them outside and you w
ill see how they compare side
by side in the next video. resolution info I'm going to go ahead
and put up on the screen. Now all the cameras
I just tested in a Excel spreadsheet. I'll also leave this Excel spreadsheet. Our copy of this spreadsheet
down in the description below, but you can freeze frame here
and look at all of the different, specs, line by line. are they PTZ? No, they are not PTZ,
although there have been images released
by ubiquity of an upcoming ultra PTZ. Well, I haven't seen
anything about it
yet. Stay tuned. I'm sure they're going to be one
in the future. minimal focal distance. I went ahead on that comparison chart. This has been a question I get a lot
a minimal focus, focal distance. I think people want to put them in locations
where they're really close to an object. I went ahead and tested for all of them. They are down in the Excel spreadsheet
below. so feel free to go back to that
and look down at the very bottom. can the cable
come out of the side of the mou
nt? I took a little bit of video
here. I'll overlay it. Yes you can. On the base of the mount, on the turret
there is a, a little gap
that you can pull out the little piece and make the cable run down,
against whatever you're mounting to. So that's convenient. There is not the same thing on the,
dome, people are asking about the turret IP rating. You can go ahead and look
at the spreadsheet again and see, the IP rating of all the cameras that we tested,
the dimensions of the dongle connector. I
will put those over the screen
right now. And that was the extent of your questions. I really do want to thank you for asking those questions.
I will let you also know that these cameras
are going up permanently in my office. So if you have a question now or in the future,
if you're watching this in the future, Please leave those questions
down in the comments. I will get to
you and I will answer any questions that you have
that I can, that I can easily test. all right, so let's wrap this up and
,
and give you my conclusions. I think a lot of people were thinking that this might be some sort
of revolutionary, camera. And it truly isn't, at this
best price point for this ultra series. I think they're trying to go
for the mass market, and I think they really hit the nail
right on the head. I think the the turret is a wonderful,
versatile mounting system. I think it's going to look good indoors.
I think it's going to look good outdoors. I think the size of it is is nice. you can see in the
comparison
to, to the Hikvision cameras that I have there, it's much smaller. It's going to be much more discreet. I think the hundred and $29
price point is right, where people kind of want to be for these things. I think the quality of the image, both day
and night is, is completely adequate. I think the air on it works well. I do like the exposed sensor
over the dome. but for the dome, you can see
I put them right next to the G5 flex. and I think that the dome of my G5
flex is on one of the
mounts. I think the G5, Ultra Dome
looks a little, a little cleaner. you know, it's
got that just kind of that black interior where you don't really see,
which way the camera's looking. although the G5 flex
is a wonderful camera, and it's still a kind of a workhorse
in our system. So at 129, you get you get those three options, which I think
kind of cover a lot of ground there. And at 179, the domes, G5
and the G4 dome, are still good cameras. And so what I replace either,
G5 dome or G4 dome wi
th either with, with either of these cameras are probably not,
I think that those cameras the sensor honestly, pixel peeping
to get any differences in those images. If I put them up on the screen,
I don't think you would notice the difference
if I said, hey, I'm gonna give you $100 if you can pick out which ones, which I think you would struggle
to be able to find a difference. I think what they're doing here
is they're giving you 4 or 5 different options in this same sensor,
kind of quality zo
ne, at relative prices. And you get to pick your poison,
based off of your use case. And I think that
that really is a great thing. It's just giving you more options, to,
to use obviously this is a newer camera, so it's going to be supported longer. You know, obviously
we have a G4, the length of time they're going to support
that product is shorter. So Obviously I would go for the G5
ultra lineup just because it's the newest,
latest, greatest. But if I needed the G5 dome somewhere,
I wouldn't b
e averse to buying that Orji, G5 flex if I just wanted, a ton
of flexibility for the mounting options. You said who are these cameras for? I think the ultra turrets
are going to be a real, real big hit. I think you can put them inside.
You can put them outside. you know, the way I look at this system,
if I wanted I facial recognition, I would probably get an AI camera
somewhere where I had people
coming in an entrance and exit. But if I was going to put
five other cameras around the office, I wo
uld put either these down
for these turrets. I think the turret, has a little bit
better quality image. I think the dome looks
a little bit more discreet. I think the mounting system
for the turret is a little nicer than the mounting system for the dome,
but it's a margin call, and I think these are both very, very nice, options for you. and with that bombshell,
I'm going to go ahead and wrap this up. If you have any questions
put them down below. If you want me to test anything
please put that
down below as well. please like and subscribe. We do these kind of videos weekly. Check us out. Next week we'll have the outdoors with the turret
and, all the bullets for outside. And, we'll see you guys in the next video. So here we are in the day and you can see that
we have all the cameras up here. The top two are the ultra and the turret. We've got the G5 flex over here. And then I've got the G4 dome,
the G5 dome, the G5 bullet and the I bullet. first thing that jumped out to me
is how wide
the G5 turret is. it really is getting from side to side
here, just from a really,
really wide field of view. a couple things to look out here
is outside of this window, you can see the the wind's blowing and there's a little
bit of, of chop on the, on the pond there. and you'll see
as I go through the different ones, you know, obviously a lot of people ask
about the cast on the dome and you can see a little bit of that kind of haze there,
but I'm seeing through to the, the water and it looks re
ally nice,
you know, pretty comparable image there. I will say that it is a little wider
on the, turret than it is on the bullet. you know, and when I say a little wider,
it's it's actually quite a bit wider. They're not exactly on the same axis,
but I'm getting way over here into the corner
and way over here, by the TVs. You know,
they're twisted a little bit here, but I can tell you
that this is actually quite wide. but you look at both of them in comparison
to the G5 flex and, you know, it's
there's quite a bit
more on this right hand side here. but the other glaring observation to me is
these are all three $129 cameras, is that they're very similar. Like, you know, for most people, I think
your form factor and your mounting options are probably going to be more of a factor
on which one of these you choose. If I'm just choosing on image quality
To my eye and I'm going to get in here
and pixel peep on this. I think that the ultra turret
is probably the best image. And we'll go down h
ere to the eye chart
and we'll see. You know we're at line six here. And that's something DF Aussie P you know and this is obviously going
to get compressed and stuff on YouTube. So I'm not quite sure
that's a fair comparison but same here. Edify something P so it's that same line,
you know, about the same distance there. let me let it, compress
itself a little bit there and look better, but, and then if I go into the flex, same thing ETF, CCP, FEC, you know,
the flex is also a little bit close
r on axis there, but I think they're
all probably pretty similar. But the G5 ultra turret to me
looks a little bit sharper. Like if I look in this keyboard here and I go over to the flex
and I look at the keyboard. So the little less detail in that keyboard
there on the flex, it's a margin call. I really think, honestly, you're going to make this decision
based off of what your particular needs are, especially if you're just doing
daytime imaging just like this. I can go into the G4 dome. You'll
see. The G4
dome to me is a little bit milk year. It's not as quite as crisp of an image as the G5 Dome Ultra,
and the G5 dome here as well. Looks a little crisper,
But you will notice on both the G4 buffer and the G5 dome,
the field of view is a little bit narrower,
just kind of like the G5 Dome Ultra. so that being said, I think all three of
those are still good options. If you were running G4 dome,
I would not get rid of this G4 dome for the G5 five Dome Ultra. I don't think it's that big of
a deal. The same reason I have not updated my G4
domes. The G5 domes. I just don't know that there's
enough difference in them to justify it. And lastly, I have the G5 bullet and the eye bullet. and you can see right off the bat
with the I bullet, I'm getting detections. It's noticing everybody's a human. I think obviously this is probably
the nicest camera by a long shot here. And it's also triple the price. you know, if I'm looking at the G5
bullet versus the G5 turret, which I think is going
to be a pretty good
competition outdoors, I don't think there's enough in it to make me buy
the G5 bullet over the G5 turret indoors. I get all this width. If you look at the at the lake over there,
I'm getting the same detail in the, G5 bullet, but the bullet is so zoomed in that I'm missing
all this extra information on the sides. I'm interested to see how these three compare outside,
but inside I really think the G5 turret, if you were going to look at those two, is probably the winner over
any of the bullets. and honestly, the way I'm looking at it
during the daytime, I think the G5 turret is probably
the winner here as well. the same price as the flex.
And what we'll do is we'll
wait for it to be dark, and we'll compare
all these cameras at night. All right. Through the magic of YouTube. It is now pitch black outside. It's 8:00 at night, and we're going to dive right in
and take a look at these cameras at night. Just quickly, I will mention again. It never really gets pitch
black in my office. There's a lot of phantom power
lights all around, and there's a couple of, like, emergency
exit lights that don't ever go off. but I think it's pretty typical
of most office spac
e areas. I will tell you that if you were to try
and walk out there right now, if there was something on the floor,
you would trip over it, not see it. It is that dark to the eye. Obviously, these cameras
are pretty sensitive to light, and, you'll see more in these images
than you will really in real life. But let's jump in real quick. So I've got the same, seven cameras up,
and I'm going to leave them completely. I've got air turned off
on all of the cameras right now, just to give you kind of
a baseline
of what things look like. there is behind underneath these cameras,
there is a glass window. And in that room it's our reception area. There is a light
that never goes off in there. So you are seeing like on the eye chart,
there is some light coming from that room. This is also our,
our meeting room over here. And there is a light in there
that never goes off as well. And over here and the corner that is
actually me filming this in my office. the stuff coming through the windows
on th
e, on the, on the lake is just lights on the lake. And, you'll see it's
really dark out there, but the cameras do pick up quite a bit of,
light from the lake. So this is the the the dome ultra. and, you know, this is a decent image. I'm not really. You know, I'm not blown away
by this image. I'm not,
you know, underwhelmed by this image. It's it's it's rendering everything
pretty well. The one thing about domes. And you will see, you know,
and these LEDs that are on, Sean's desk here, there is
a little bit of a
of a flare off of the of the dome cover. You'll notice that on all the domes that
they, they tend to disperse the light. look over here at this DVC on the door. This is something I'll come back to again
and again. This is rendered pretty well,
and I think that's pretty pretty visible. but you know, they're all going to render
that a little bit differently. I will go over to the G5 Turret
Ultra same thing. Unfortunately, the,
the cable for the switch is up there, but you can se
e the DPC pretty well. You can see out here that you can start
to see some of the lights there, maybe a little crisper,
these LED lights. Again, this doesn't have the cover on it.
You can see act
ually the lights here,
because it's a little bit lower down in the mount. You can see the lights on the other
side of the pond, which look quite nice. I think this is a pretty decent
image as well. But, you know, these three cameras
throughout this whole test seem very, very similar to me. And I almost feel like the G5 Ultra's are just kind of a continuation, maybe a little different mount system
of a very similar to a G5 flex. And I think I'll keep coming back
to that again and again as we kind
of go through the rest of this review. If I go in to the dome, the G4, this is where you really start
to see the differences. Now, I think this is a pretty usable
I'll go to the G5 dome a little darker,
but the noise is gone.
And the G5
bullet doing pretty nicely there. And we'll go to the eye bullet,
which obviously it's the most expensive of the cameras here. and it's it's doing a nice job. I can actually see the, the the checkerboard of the, of the carpet
here, which is a little difficult to do. It's, you know, this is still a grainy,
you know, image as well. because there's not much light here. There is the light coming from my room. This is a very dim light over here, and there's just a little tiny
bit of light coming thr
ough the room. And you can see on how far away these
lights are on the other side of the lake. This is a long way that's lighting up that area
that makes it kind of look like it's lit. so that's it. With the iris off, I'm going to go ahead
and turn on the air emitters in the G5 turret. And I'm going to go to auto on that
and just let it do its thing. And this is the G5 turret just by itself. And you know, none of the other I.R. emitters are on, on any of the cameras. They're all and obviously in
De mode. And I've made sure that I turned off all the air
emitters in the other rooms as well. So there's nothing that's spilling over. this to me is a really nice image,
and I think this is probably something that most everybody
that is looking at this camera is probably saying,
hey, I don't like the domes because they cast a little bit of a,
of a, of a haze on the IR emitter. This looks really good to me. And so, you know, I was looking for
to see how far or what the IR emitter strength on th
is
is compared to the previous generation of domes, and it doesn't have
a listing on the website yet. I'll have a all of the details of these
in a blog article that I post below. but I'm assuming this is casting this
this wall over here is probably 30ft, maybe 40ft, 30ft away from this camera. And it's doing a nice job of,
of lighting up that wall. So, it is at least ten meters, 30ft
to that wall. And,
doing a really nice job of casting that. So I would be pretty happy
with the strength. Look,
the the the quality. This image is completely fine to me. If somebody was coming in here
to steal something, I could see every bit of them
in all the detail.
Th
is is actually, you know, decent. Again, I would use this.
I wouldn't have a problem with this. But if you compare this
and I'll go ahead and turn them both on. Obviously both IR emitters
are going to be emitting here, but just so that you can see them side by side
again, I'll put this one on as well. And you can see that there's just so much more clarity in the turret,
than the dome. And, you know, that's this is really a pretty good apples
to apples comparison here. you know, it wouldn't be st
range to,
to have two IR emitters in the same room. you know, typically in this room, I've got
four cameras, one in each four corners. And so there's IR just all over the room. So two, two air
emitters and, next to each other probably is not going to overdo this,
you know, at any appreciable level. But, you know, this is a really nice image
compared to this image. So, you know, your mileage
may vary there, but, I truly think that that is a
that's a game changer for the turret and, definitely mak
es it a, a good addition
in my book to, ubiquitous arsenal. I'm going to go ahead
and, I'll turn off the Dome Ultra emitter, and I will compare it, the flux to the.
I really feel like there's just different,
except for the AI bullet.
And
I'll give it just a marginal
victory to the turret. And we'll go ahead, turn that guy off and we will turn on the G5 dome. This is the classic G5 dome. And compare it to turret. And so that one will go off this one too. Come on in my G5 dome. You know people complain about the dome. My G5 dome has always done a real nice job of having
not having that cast or that haze on it. And I think this was a really good
rendition. You know, if you pixel it is a little hazier than the
than the turret witho
ut anything on it. So I still think in this, in this,
you know, comparison, I would pick the turret over the dome, both thumbs and the G5 dome is $50 more, so I don't know that
I would choose this one over this one. I think the G5 turret is definitely the
clear winner for me in this comparison. I'll leave the outside comparisons
for for the G5 bullet and the AI bullet at night for the follow up video
that I compare all these guys outside. But as far as inside at night, I think the clear winner f
or me here in
this comparison is the G5 turret. I think it is
what people have been asking for, you know, just a better form factor. Same image sensor, same price,
better form factor for nighttime viewing. So if I had somewhere where I am
trying to surveil at night indoors, I think the clear winner for me is the G5
